[Bug 258935] Re: program freezes when changing the volume with multimedia keys.. also once it loses the audio control it is horrible at reclaiming it
I'm suddenly having major issues with this bug. Rhythmbox is completely unusable with this. It freezes for about 30 seconds at a time when I use my volume controls, and about half of my open windows freeze with it. I just logged out, logged in, tested with rhythmbox being the only thing running, and it still does this. I'm on Ubuntu 9.10, amd64, with rhythmbox 0.12.5 (and its dbg packages). I've attached the resulting file after I ran "rhythmbox -d 2>&1 | tee rhythmbox-freeze.txt" (and removed the thousands of lines where it decided to list every single one of my songs). At the top of the file, I noted the four times that rhythmbox stopped responding (it's pretty much every time the log skips more than 10 seconds). The line [0xa01040] [window_focus_cb] rb-mmkeys-plugin.c:142: window got focus, re-grabbing media keys is always the last thing that shows up on the terminal when rhythmbox freezes. The line appears every time I press a media key (including the volume key), but doesn't always cause rhythmbox to freeze. ** Attachment added: "Rhythmbox's debug logging" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/36988240/rhythmbox-freeze.txt -- program freezes when changing the volume with multimedia keys.. also once it loses the audio control it is horrible at reclaiming it https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/258935 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 497221] Re: No sound in HP Pavilion dv6z laptop with ubuntu 9.10
After a lot of trials I have somewhat solved the sound problem although not perfect. This is exactly what I did so far. I made a full installation (dual booting with windows 7) with dedicated ext4, swap partitions. No sound yet. I removed alsa using synaptic package manager. I added keramic backport to the sources & updated. I installed 'linux-backports-modules-alsa-2.6.31-17-generic' using synaptic package manager. Restated the system & after some tweaking in the sound settings I got sound ! Mike is working fine too. There are still issues with the sound like the laptop speaksers remain on when I connect the headphones. I'm managing right now using the gnome alsa mixer to manually reduce the laptop speaker sound while using headphones. I hope this bug will get fixed for the next release of Ubuntu. [Bug 493130] Re: Quickly prevents creating a project with a "-" in the name
Ok... I have pulled the latest quickly branch (lp:quickly) into my branch. I then tested this my locally merging the trunk and my changes, and it seems to function ok. [Bug 459716] Re: encrypted modes don't work on ndiswrapper wireless adapters
It is affecting me (I have a DLink DWL-G650M with a AR5513 chipset) after upgrading to Karmic. [Bug 498558] Re: Erlang packages missing debug information
Thank you for the bug report, and for going to the work of tracking down what was happening. Erlang debug info was deliberately stripped out in order to make the erlang runtime smaller so it could fit on the CD, as we shipped CouchDB on the CD in Ubuntu 9.10. I have not figured out whether it is possible to ship erlang debug info in a separate parallel package like we do for C programs. So the other solution I had come up with but not gotten around to setting up until tonight was to make a PPA with a rebuilt erlang package that included the debug info. This way we still have a small erlang that fits on the CD by default, but Erlang developers that want to use dialyzer and the debugger can easily get alternate erlang packages that include debug info. I believe this bug should be closed as wontfix. I am aware that Sergei has changed the debian packages to build with debug info included by default, this is a reasonable choice for debian but not for Ubuntu. Sergei has kindly left the patch in place and just commented out because Ubuntu still needs the smaller erlang runtime, so we can still easily merge from debian to ubuntu. I've now created a PPA including a rebuilt erlang with debug info here: https://edge.launchpad.net/~erlang-dev/+archive/ppa The patch from stock ubuntu 9.10 is a trivial one-liner, commenting out a line in the quilt series file. http://launchpadlibrarian.net/36985331/erlang_1:13.b.1-dfsg-2ubuntu1_1:13.b.1-dfsg-2ubuntu2~karmic1.diff.gz To add this ppa to you Ubuntu 9.10 machine, type: sudo add-apt-respository ppa:erlang-dev/ppa If it would be useful to people developing erlang programs, we could set up a parallel PPA that had even newer versions of Erlang in it with debug info turned on there also, so that it's easy to get the very latest erlang release to develop against. ** Changed in: erlang (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix -- Erlang packages missing debug information https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/498558 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 498007] Re: open office crashes when switching with firefox
alterity: The debug procedure needs to be applied to the specific application that is failing. soffice.bin is just the introduction screen but launches the actual application. What application is open when the crash is occurring? Can you also tell me if there is a crash report being generated when Openoffice is crashing? (For example.. Does a screen appear asking you to report the bug with a couple of buttons on it?) The reason I ask is because I still cannot push this bug upstream unless I can reproduce the bug on a vanilla debian system using the DEB files from Sun.
