I'm using Ubuntu 8.10, but having the same problem on an external 22
monitor running at 1680x1...@60hz. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have
the proper apport. When I try to run apport-collect, I get command not
found. When I run apport-cli, I get No pending crash reports. I've
run synaptic to make sure I have the latest of everything related to
apport, but it still does nothing for me. I'm so frustrated because I
have to boot into Windoze to watch my movies. I was hoping to be
finished with Micro$oft years ago, but I keep getting sucked back into
the black hole.

2010-01-22 Thread TAFKARS
Hi Jean-Baptiste

I do not have that file in the tmp directory, but i do have these:

fmtutil.NyubSGK3
fmtutil.yiHZGKkM

Are they any good for you?

Incidentally, just ran update manager again and the following error
appeared:

E: luatex: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error
exit status 1

Thanks for the swift response

[Bug 510616] Re: Translation of kdelibs: untranslatable % placeholder

Hi Sveinn,

Thanks for reporting this bug.

Could you please provide a link to the string so it is easier for those
triaging it to identify it? Thanks!

I'm moving the bug to Launchpad Translations, since it seems to affect
the tool to do Ubuntu Translations, not the translations of the distro
themselves.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and trying to help make
Ubuntu better. However, it seems that you are not using a software
package provided by the official Ubuntu repositories (murrine). Because
of this the Ubuntu project can not support or fix your particular bug.
Please report this bug to the provider of the software package. Thanks!

[Bug 511001] Re: [i855GM] Lucid Freeze shortly after X startup on Intel i855

2010-01-22 Thread Geir Ove Myhr
Thank you for filing a 855GM freeze bug report with Lucid. I have missed
that. We have several for Karmic(bug 378147, bug 423663, bug 447892, bug
477256, bug 477972, bug 484412, and bug 496187), but have missed Lucid
testing. I would like to gather some logs and additional information
from you and then we can send it upstream. Hopefully, a bug report with
more recent software will receive more attention upstream.

It would be nice if you could install Lucid on a partition, since that
will allow you to test different kernels. The other tests should be
doable with a USB stick.

Test 1: Install the packages from the xorg-edgers PPA [1]. There are
instructions for how to do it with a USB-stick. Get a batchbuffer dump
according to the instructions on [2] (use the DebugFlushCaches option
described there). In order to do all this you will probably need boot
the USB in safe mode, then choose netroot (have ethernet network, not
wireless), install openssh-server so that you can ssh in, make the
xorg.conf with DebugFlushCaches option, install xorg-egers using the
script, and then finally start gdm with `start gdm`. Then make org
freeze and you can get the batchbuffer dump. While you are logged in you
can also do a `apport-collect 511001` in order to upload log files to
this bug report.

If installing xorg-edgers above stops the freezing, we will try and
identify the fix and get it into Lucid.

Test 2 (requires install): In addition to xorg-edgers, try the two
mainline kernels [3,4] 2.6.33-rc4 and the newest one in the drm-intel-
next folder. Report if this freezes or not. It is possible that another
batchbuffer dump is useful for these cases.

Test 3 (requires install): Test the kernels with 599 and 600 from [5]
and if they boot with Lucid, check if 600 freezes and 599 does not.

[Bug 276094] Re: gedit uses %100 CPU when opening a file in /var/lib/dpkg/info/

2010-01-22 Thread riban
I just had a very similar problem. gedit was consuming 100% CPU usage
every time I started it. I tried removing the config file with no
improvement. I then found this bug report and investigated the side pane
file browser. This was pointing at a point in the dvb source tree. When
I changed this to point elsewhere, the cpu usage reduced to 10% or less.
I did not try a reboot before finding the work-around described here.

I am using Ubuntu 9.10. Kernel 2.6.31-17-generic. gedit 2.28.0 on a
Samsung NC10 netbook (Intel Atom N270) with 1GB RAM.

[Bug 511113] [NEW] -delay option puts a delay onto recorded audio track

2010-01-22 Thread wayfarer_boy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: recordmydesktop

Description:Ubuntu 9.10
Release:9.10
Installed: 0.3.8.1-0ubuntu1
Candidate: 0.3.8.1-0ubuntu1

When using the -delay option in recordmydesktop, eg.:

recordmydesktop --width 1024 --height 640 --device pulse --fps 25
--channels 1 --delay 5 --overwrite -o outfile.ogv

the recorded audio is out of sync with the video, playing a few seconds
behind. Using the following command, the audio and video are in sync:

sleep 5; recordmydesktop --width 1024 --height 640 --device pulse --fps
25 --channels 1 --freq 44100 --overwrite -o

I thought it might be to do with the window manager I was using, but it
occurs in both compiz and metacity.

think, this problem occurs whenever there is no leisure physical memory.

[Bug 510907] Re: Inhibit suspending (flag 0x4) not working over DBus

2010-01-22 Thread Severin Heiniger
After having a look at gnome-power-manager's source code, I also noticed
that gpm_manager_is_inhibit_valid is a stub. Implementing it also
requires gpm-session.c to be changed, because the term inhibited is
limited to the concept of session timeouts there. I tried to implement
it but unfortunately, it didn't work.

I guess this bug should be forwarded upstream, unless this has already
happened.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-kde

if openoffice.org-kde is installed on the system, openoffice.org crashes
in loadComponentFromURL() when operated through UNO.

to reproduce:
1. make sure openoffice.org-kde is installed
2. compile SimpleBootstrap_cpp.cxx from openoffice sdk examples
3. run the resulting application

debugging output:

[Bug 511117] [NEW] one extra dolphin window for each session restart

2010-01-22 Thread Per Ångström
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase

It seems that every time I log out of KDE and log in again, I get an
additional Dolphin window.

How to reproduce:
1) In KDE, make sure you have at least one Dolphin window open.
2) Log out.
3) Log back in to KDE.

Expected result: You should have the same number of Dolphin windows as when you
logged out.
Actual result: The number of Dolphin windows has increased by one.

If you repeat these steps, you will end up with a lot of Dolphin

[Bug 412647] Re: Firefox is not able to play mp4 video tags

2010-01-22 Thread Chris Double
Referring to comment 290, the original video code for Firefox was
actually Ogg support via the low level Ogg libraries. GStreamer support
was implemented later (by me - I'm the original author of the GStreamer
Firefox patch). We then moved back using other, higher level Ogg
libraries (liboggplay, etc).

The original GStreamer patched played fine on desktop and the N810 but
has suffered a lot of bitrot - and was incomplete in regards to HTML 5
spec changes and various pieces of integration with Firefox (using
Firefox's network stack, etc). The current version of the patch is being
actively worked on by the new patch author and I'm sure he'll have it up
to speed in due course.

[Bug 393481] Re: [IBM 2374SG7] suspend/resume failure

2010-01-22 Thread ^_Pepe_^
This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest Karmic 9.10 release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If the issue remains, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal) while running Karmic. It
will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this
report.

apport-collect -p linux 393481

Thanks in advance
