[Bug 453260] Re: Can not connect using WEP ASCII keys

2010-03-07 Thread paddy
where's the fix , where's the release.

I have a totally upto date kubuntu and it is still unable to accept an
ascii WEP needed by my router.

Am I supposed to wait for the next major release of kubuntu or is this
still not fixed?

[Bug 400711] Re: [Polish Translation] "Stron a Główna" on right panel should be "Katalog Domowy"

2010-03-07 Thread Omer Akram
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the
current Ubuntu development version, this would help us a lot. If you can
test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could
upload updated logs by running apport-collect 400711, and any other logs
that are relevant for this particular issue.

[Bug 534211] Re: Cannot umount /proc after using update-binfmts in a chroot

2010-03-07 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
If, before calling `umount "$ROOT/proc"`, I run:
$ chroot "$ROOT" invoke-rc.d binfmt-support stop
then umount works cleanly.

BUT I'm losing "cli" and "wine" from /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc/ on the *real* fs
tree, so I then have to run
$ invoke-rc.d binfmt-support start
on the real tree to get them back... so I don't think that qualifies as an
acceptable solution.

Would it be possible to completely divert update-binfmts in the chroot (and
replace it with `true`), and still have everything working properly?
I.e. is the update-binfmts call in wine1.2.postinst (and in the java postinst
etc) required, or is putting the "cli", "jar", "wine" etc files in
/usr/share/binfmts enough?

[Bug 534217] [NEW] x200s hung with oops in Xorg (drm .33)

2010-03-07 Thread Luka Renko
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

HW: ThinkPad X200s with GM45
SW: Kubuntu Lucid, up-to-date + drm .33 kernel (from apw's ppa)

I was running freshly booted system (for cca 30 minutes), with Kontact and
Chromium browser. I was just moving my mouse over Chromium browser, when the
mouse pointer froze and I could not do anything else (switch VT,
Ctrl-Alt-Del/Bksp) but power-off.
Note: I have installed drm .33 to help debug another hang (bug 533144) - not
sure if these two are releated.

In the /var/log/messages I got the following oops:

[Bug 529052] Re: battery applet comes and goes in notification area

2010-03-07 Thread rtobar
I was also having the same problem in fluxbox (see bug #531339 for
screenshot). In the last days, anyways, with the updates, the behavior
has changed, but is not entirely fixed. I can report the following
situation:

With AC adapter:
 * Start g-p-m. No problems/warnings on console during the entire lifetime of
g-p-m
 * The icon displays OK in the systray.
 * When switching to battery, the icon goes and come back about 3 times, to
finally dissapear
 * When switching back to AC, the icon comes and go about 3 times, to finally
stay

With battery:
 * Start g-p-m. Got a warning (the only one during the lifetime of g-p-m):
(gnome-power-manager:6329): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: value "-nan" of type
`gdouble' is invalid or out of range for property `percentage' of type `gdouble'
 * The icon displays OK in the systray.
 * Same behavior as explained before with AC adapter, but now icon stays while
on battery, and hides when on AC.

Hope this helps.

Rodrigo

[Bug 532309] Re: Light-themes: panel-background isn't scaling

I tink the only possible "real" solution is to take out the background

there is no good funktionality for panel backgrounds and maybe this is a
chance to improve this. I was working on some dark themes a time ago and

What "control"? This bug doesn't mention any controls. The bug is - subwoofer
stops working every time playback ends. No controls at all.

No, I'm not understand. Without PulseAudio with pure ALSA everything works just
great, subwoofer works everytime, with no need to reset any settings in ALSA.

What exactly wrong in hardware or driver in your opinion? Why with ALSA
everything works great?

[Bug 534211] [NEW] Cannot umount /proc after using update-binfmts in a chroot

2010-03-07 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: binfmt-support

As part of LTSP fat client installations, the following instructions are
performed (cut down version):

$ chroot "$ROOT" mount -t proc proc /proc
$ chroot "$ROOT" update-binfmts --import wine
$ umount "$ROOT/proc"

At this point we get:
$ umount: /opt/ltsp/i386/proc: device is busy.
$ (In some cases useful info about processes that use
$ the device is found by lsof(8) or fuser(1))
...and we're forced to resort to `umount -l` to work around this problem.

Is the any way to call update-binfmts in a chroot (e.g. to install wine)
without having to resort to `umount -l`?

[Bug 456902] Re: [i845g] Karmic stops responding a few minutes after log in

2010-03-07 Thread Flabdablet
Just to clarify: I've had text console switching misbehaviour both times
I've tried driver version 2:2.7.0-jaunty1. It's not a complete X freeze:
the keyboard stays responsive, I can see the monitor turning its
backlight off and on as I attempt to switch screens, and the monitor's
OSD reports 1024x768 as it should. But the only way I've found to
restore a non-black text or GUI screen is to reboot - restarting gdm
doesn't do it.

Do you think this is related to the freeze we're chasing? Even if not,
given that this misbehaviour is so quickly and reliably triggered, is it
worth bisecting for in its own right?

[Bug 532309] Re: Light-themes: panel-background isn't scaling

2010-03-07 Thread xrayA4T
Is it possible to use a gradient rather than a bitmap as the panel
background to achieve an effect that scales? Buttons with gradients
scale fine as to the highlight backgrounds in menus.

If GTK only supports tiled backgrounds could it be extended to support
scaling in one direction?

If all else fails is it possible to make the bitmap say 100 px high so
that it does not tile in vertical?

Can confirm the same issue on my EeePC 701 4G with Ubuntu Netbook Remix

Also, when running: cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info I notice that "Last

[Bug 477031] Re: usb-storage not reconizing LG cu920 after 9.10 upgrade

I've found a workaround for this bug. Comment out in

ATTRS{idVendor}=="05c6", ATTRS{idProduct}=="1000", RUN+="modem-modeswitch -v

Then it works with option_zero_cd=2, eject and one minute reconnect, just as in

[Bug 525807] Re: Impress - Slideshow not full screen

2010-03-07 Thread Travis Watkins
OOo is not setting _NET_WM_STATE_FULLSCREEN so compiz is refusing to
allow it to resize to cover the panel, as it is supposed to. Metacity
appears to have a hack for this as when entering presentation mode it
says "Window manager warning: Treating resize request of legacy
application 0x44045cc (OpenOffice) as a fullscreen request".

We have disabled this workaround in compiz as it causes other problems
(with totem, for example). I'd rather not turn this back on, it should
be easy enough to drag OpenOffice.org out of the 1990s in this regard.
Well, easy for someone who has a computer that can compile it in less
than 8 hours.

[Bug 534189] [NEW] No upstream project for mountall

2010-03-07 Thread Robert Ancell
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mountall

I've been trying to find an upstream location for mountall/repository
but it doesn't appear to have one.

If it's currently stored in bzr somewhere could you set up:
https://launchpad.net/mountall
And link lp:mountall to the repository?

[Bug 534190] [NEW] module (config.py) in python-speechd breaks python's help system

2010-03-07 Thread Geir Hauge
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: speech-dispatcher

Release: Ubuntu 9.10
Version: python-speechd 0.6.7+git20090914~unofficial-0ubuntu4

When searching for modules in python's help system, it stops and
requests user input when it reaches the modules provided by the python-
speechd package.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Launch a python shell
2. In the python shell, run: help()
3. At the help prompt, search for any module. e.g.: modules foo
You'll get output like the following:

help> modules foo

Here is a list of matching modules. Enter any module name to get more
help.

Speech Dispatcher configuration tool
Do you want to setup a completely new configuration? [yes] :
>

The expected behavior would be to get a list of matching modules, then
be returned to the "help> " prompt

The culprit is /usr/share/pyshared/speechd_config/config.py with the
following lines at the end of the file:

if __name__ == "__main__":
sys.exit(main())
else:
main()

main() should only be executed if __name__ == "__main__", so removing
the else-clause should fix the problem, though I don't know if any parts
of speechd expects that module to behave that way.

** Affects: speech-dispatcher (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 229197] Re: rhythmbox notifications don't show album cover

2010-03-07 Thread Serrano Pereira
This bug still exists on a fully updated Ubuntu Karmic with Rhythmbox
0.12.7. Strangly, I didn't have this problem when I had just installed
it. It started happening later that day while I was playing around with
CoverGloobus. At first it would load all covers the way it should. Then
later that same day it would only display covers from albums that have
the cover as a separate .jpg file in the same folder (covers from ID3
tags were not displayed). And now (a few days later) it won't show any
covers at all (although at times it does). DarthTibault's method also
didn't change anything for me.

I added a screenshot with the bug in action.

AnyDATA ADU-510A, the same problem. On 8.10 it was fine, on 9.04 it was
automatically disconnecting and reconnecting after about a minute, but working
