Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. [Bug 534211] Re: Cannot umount /proc after using update-binfmts in a chroot
If, before calling `umount "$ROOT/proc"`, I run: $ chroot "$ROOT" invoke-rc.d binfmt-support stop then umount works cleanly. BUT I'm losing "cli" and "wine" from /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc/ on the *real* fs tree, so I then have to run $ invoke-rc.d binfmt-support start on the real tree to get them back... so I don't think that qualifies as an acceptable solution. Would it be possible to completely divert update-binfmts in the chroot (and replace it with `true`), and still have everything working properly? I.e. is the update-binfmts call in wine1.2.postinst (and in the java postinst etc) required, or is putting the "cli", "jar", "wine" etc files in /usr/share/binfmts enough? -- Cannot umount /proc after using update-binfmts in a chroot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/534211 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I was also having the same problem in fluxbox (see bug #531339 for screenshot). In the last days, anyways, with the updates, the behavior has changed, but is not entirely fixed. I can report the following situation: With AC adapter: * Start g-p-m. No problems/warnings on console during the entire lifetime of g-p-m * The icon displays OK in the systray. * When switching to battery, the icon goes and come back about 3 times, to finally dissapear * When switching back to AC, the icon comes and go about 3 times, to finally stay With battery: * Start g-p-m. Got a warning (the only one during the lifetime of g-p-m): (gnome-power-manager:6329): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: value "-nan" of type `gdouble' is invalid or out of range for property `percentage' of type `gdouble' * The icon displays OK in the systray. * Same behavior as explained before with AC adapter, but now icon stays while on battery, and hides when on AC. [Bug 534211] [NEW] Cannot umount /proc after using update-binfmts in a chroot

[Bug 456902] Re: [i845g] Karmic stops responding a few minutes after log in
Just to clarify: I've had text console switching misbehaviour both times I've tried driver version 2:2.7.0-jaunty1. It's not a complete X freeze: the keyboard stays responsive, I can see the monitor turning its backlight off and on as I attempt to switch screens, and the monitor's OSD reports 1024x768 as it should. But the only way I've found to restore a non-black text or GUI screen is to reboot - restarting gdm doesn't do it. Do you think this is related to the freeze we're chasing? Public bug reported: Binary package hint: speech-dispatcher Release: Ubuntu 9.10 Version: python-speechd 0.6.7+git20090914~unofficial-0ubuntu4 When searching for modules in python's help system, it stops and requests user input when it reaches the modules provided by the python- speechd package. Steps to reproduce: 1. Launch a python shell 2. In the python shell, run: help() 3. At the help prompt, search for any module. e.g.: modules foo You'll get output like the following: help> modules foo Here is a list of matching modules. Enter any module name to get more help. Speech Dispatcher configuration tool Do you want to setup a completely new configuration? [yes] : > The expected behavior would be to get a list of matching modules, then be returned to the "help> " prompt The culprit is /usr/share/pyshared/speechd_config/config.py with the following lines at the end of the file: if __name__ == "__main__": sys.exit(main()) else: main() main() should only be executed if __name__ == "__main__", so removing the else-clause should fix the problem, though I don't know if any parts of speechd expects that module to behave that way. ** Affects: speech-dispatcher (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- module (config.py) in python-speechd breaks python's help system https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/534190 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This bug still exists on a fully updated Ubuntu Karmic with Rhythmbox 0.12.7. Strangly, I didn't have this problem when I had just installed it. It started happening later that day while I was playing around with CoverGloobus. At first it would load all covers the way it should. Then later that same day it would only display covers from albums that have the cover as a separate .jpg file in the same folder (covers from ID3 tags were not displayed). And now (a few days later) it won't show any covers at all (although at times it does). DarthTibault's method also didn't change anything for me.
