I solved it by doing a clean (relatively anyway) install, so it was an
upgrade issue either with cruft on my box or some small incompat.
anyway, solved, but not through detective work

obviously it's your call Chris, yet i want to emphasise i filed this bug
not out of some caprice to left aligned titles (we all know Dust), but
simply due to the fact that it's going to be the Official Theme for an
upcoming LTS version. nevertheless should we consider all the hard work
that was done to make this theme look as good as it does.

thanks again

[Bug 446146] Re: Several Huawei USB dongle don't work with kernel 2.6.31-12.40 (2.6.31.1 update related)

2010-03-13 Thread Roman Bolshakov
@Martin Wildam: Here is need explained answer, so let me describe my
short story. I bought my first 3g modem in the last December. Network
Manager detected it without any problems. Then I used it often for a
couple of week.

It started to work anyhow after some time. Sometimes it was detected
after reboot, sometimes on specific usb port. The modem even was not
always detectable.

Then I didn't use it more than a month. I checked it recently, now the
modem is detected from any USB port.

[Bug 533748] Re: cover sometimes doesn't work

2010-03-13 Thread Yunkwan
just did a little bit update to describe it more precisely.

Sorry for that. I made a mistake by typing "somtimes" as "something".

** Summary changed:

- cover something doesn't work
+ cover sometimes doesn't work

** Summary changed:

- cover sometimes doesn't work
+ rhythmbox cover display sometimes doesn't work

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: rhythmbox

  OS: lucid i386 latest

I'm happy that rhythmbox can finally read the cover that embed in my
itune musics(so there's no jpg or png files in the music folder). If I
double click the next song or I click the "next" button to switch to
another song, the lower-left of side panel will correctly show the
cover. If I let the song finish and jump to another song, then the cover
will not be shown. This happens even in the same album. So, the covers
will only be shown went I manually choose a song.

+ == more precisely
==
+ album cover will only be shown when you manually switch to a song or click
next.
+
+ album cover can't not be shown when rhythmbox automatically jump to the
+ next song.
+
+ audio file format: m4a, iTune plus ACC, the cover file is not in the
+ folder. the cover is saved in the audio file tag.

Not at all wishing to be a whining user, but I already collected all this
information for one release - see bug 469685 - and it has not been used as
far as I can tell, so I don't have much incentive to go through the same
process, with an alpha version, in response to an automated message! Can I
do this from the live CD or would I need to really install lucid on my hard

Hi Ivo,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal).  It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 430984

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.

I'm using official FF nightly builds and nvidia's binary driver on 9600GT, jit

LP is very sluggish to render and scroll for about one month.

There are many FF scroll-speed related bugs, but most infamous is lags due to
CSS :fixed positioning.
Does LP use :fixed css?

[Bug 338328] Re: Acer Aspire 5920G - some Fn keys not working

2010-03-13 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
I tried with the daily Lucid live cd, and I'm able to see the brightness
window - so there must be something wrong in my hard disk installation -
I've first installed Lucid in alpha 1 and I've been upgrading since
(I've tried with a new user so it must be a system setting).

So the only problem that remains is the 5 levels of brightness instead of 10
when I blacklist the video module.
I'm willing to provide any information needed, but it's really not important
anymore, so feel free to close this bug report at any time. :)

apport-collect -p linux 425217

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

[Bug 428297] Re: suspend/resume failure [non-free: wl]

2010-03-13 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi bromlyeyi,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal).  It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 428297

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 507007] Re: make dahdi a suggests or recommends

2010-03-13 Thread Matthias Urlichs
On second thought, MeetMe needs /dev/dahdi/dummy or it simply won't
work.

So a note in the README (or even the package description) and a
Recommends: for the dahdi driver are the minimum requirement.

Conflicting goals, but then if you set up Asterisk as a SIP-only PBX on
a resource-limited small machine, ideally without routing the actual
audio through it, you're unlikely to host conference calls …

[Bug 538642] [NEW] svscan restart problems

2010-03-13 Thread jwm
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: daemontools

The way daemontools starts up, at present, is:

* init or upstart runs svscanboot
* svscanboot runs some clean up, then calls svscan, piped into readproctitle

If svscanboot dies, init will restart it as expected, though it will tend to
leave an svscan instance sitting around. The svc -dx call
at the start of the boot script leaves that disconnected; the new svscan
process starts up fresh subprocesses.

However, if the initial svscan process dies, it's not restarted again.

The problem seems to be that the svscanboot script is still waiting on
the readproctitle child process. That should exit, according to
http://cr.yp.to/daemontools/readproctitle.html when it reaches the end
of the input, but even though the svscan process that was connected to
it's stdin has exited, this doesn't happen.

Any idea how we can fix this?

ObVersions:

Ubuntu 9.10
daemontools 1:0.76-3ubuntu2
daemontools-run 1:0.76-3ubuntu2

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal).  It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 423081

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-

[Bug 420955] Re: Network Device not found by systemtest

2010-03-13 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi firebird,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal).  It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 420955

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.
