[Bug 479672] Re: BBC iplayer fails to display movie when visual effects is turned on

2010-03-15 Thread Draycen DeCator
Thank you for the extra information. With Flash installed from the
official Ubuntu repositories, are you able to play videos on sites such
as YouTube? The problem you are experiencing with the "lever" may be a
bug that is known to exist on 64-bit systems using the official Flash
package from the repositories (bug 410407). If that does seem to be the
problem when you are using the supported Flash package, then the third
workaround on the report for bug 410407 should resolve the issue for
you.

[Bug 503935] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 DEFAULT=saved, Last boot = Windows, Grub comes up defaulting to Ubuntu

2010-03-15 Thread David Clayton
I have a similar bug in 10.04 alpha.

I have "GRUB_DEFAULT=saved" set, run update-grub and can see that my
grub.cfg file has been generated to use the default entry, but my
grub.env file always contains this:

-
# GRUB Environment Block
saved_entry=
# (the rest of these deleted)
-

My system never saves the booted OS entry and therefore always boots the
top menu item.

If I change the GRUB_DEFAULT= to a number it will boot that entry
correctly.

[Bug 539307] [NEW] Fading Windows does not unfade visual bell sometimes

2010-03-15 Thread Kees Cook
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

When a visual bell happens and triggers a fade/unfade event, sometimes
the unfade never happens, leaving the window that triggered the bell
faded. Most often happens for me with firefox, if I perform an in-page
search for a word that doesn't exist (at which point firefox rings the
bell, and Fading Windows attempts a fade/unfade flash). Perhaps related
to bug 529656 ?

[Bug 350603] Re: cannot use search or url bar after update

2010-03-15 Thread David Tombs
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this
bug as a bug in firefox.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 401202] Re: Resolver ignores ndots option

2010-03-15 Thread Martin Stepanek
Tried and got the same result on the recent Karmic and Lucid kernels as well.
My notebook unfortunately does not boot with a standard mainstream kernel, so I
can not verify it.
Just to verify we understand each other, please look at the attached file. The
home domain stemar.cz has been deliberately modified for this test in order to
return a positive response for any request. As you can see, the dig returns
NXDOMAIN for a.nonexistingdomain.com. The host command however continues with
searching for a.nonexistingdomain.com.stemar.cz which is then successful. It
should not be correct as a.nonexistingdomain.com contains more that ndots
option dots. Unfortunately, the same way as the host command does any other
apps (Firefox, Thunderbird, ping, etc.). From this I believe the problem is in
the kernel resolver procedure.

GophrenOli:

Okay, Reading the documentation for rss-glx, there is a
README.xscreensaver file with the following information in it:

EITHER
Run /usr/bin/rss-glx_install, which will look at your existing
~/.xscreensaver and add any missing entries. You probably want to back that
file up as the script is only lightly tested :)

[Bug 350461] Re: nonstopping starting window in live cd in vmware server 2.0

2010-03-15 Thread David Tombs
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs
effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

After installing the driver for my Broadcom wireless card via hardware-
drivers, I connected to my router and surfed the internet while testing
other things (FF, Empathy, etc)

I noticed that the wireless icon in indicatior area ALWAYS displays a
grey wireless representation with a red exclamation mark.

This makes it look as though there is some error or problem though when
I hover over the icon I get the message that I'm connected and have
internet connectivity.

I disabled the wireless card and nothing changed... until I tried
connecting, then I get the spinner, until Network-Manager decides it's
not going to be able to connect, and the icon changes back to the Wi-Fi
with Exclamation mark.

So, I right click and re-connect after turning the wireless card back on
and I get a good connection and internet apps work, but the icon still
gives me the glaring red exclamation mark

[Bug 357264] Re: In Jaunty 9.04 using theme New Wave will block IBM Lotus Notes 8.5 from starting

2010-03-15 Thread MankyGitt
@jf
The fix has come via the repositories for ubuntu. I don't know for sure what
package change resolved the issue, but I can confirm that the same install of
Lotus Notes that didn't work with New Wave theme before, now works flawlessly.

I suspect the issue was a Java/Eclipse compatibility issue with the
theme.

I recommend that this bug can be closed.

2010-03-15 Thread Brian Murray
Looking at the attachments in this bug report, I noticed that "main.log"
was flagged as a patch. A patch contains changes to an Ubuntu package
that will resolve a bug, since this was not one I've unchecked the patch
flag for it. In the future keep in mind the definition of a patch. You
can learn more about what qualifies as a patch at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Patches. Thanks!

[Bug 539237] Re: window list buttons have bad colors

2010-03-15 Thread Davide Lasagna
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 536844 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/536844

I'm sorry if i will not be very clear here but i'm not that good at
english, my bad.

I don't think this is a duplicate bug of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/536844 because it refers to other states
of the window list buttons. I think that the background color of the
selected buttons (the button of the window which has focus) does not fit
well with the text color; to put it simply, it lacks contrast. This
problem also affects the background and foreground colors of the buttons
when you hover the cursor over them. Text is white, background is a
light brown: they just don't work well together [at least with my
monitor configuration and eyes ;) ].

This bug affect in particular the ambiance theme. Radiance is ok with
this problem.

Cheers

Davide

[Bug 539292] [NEW] highlighted brackets are printed with highlight

2010-03-15 Thread Simon Dierl
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

When enabling matching bracket highlighting, the highlighted bracket
(the one that matches the marked bracket) is printed in highlighted
colours. This requires syntax highlighting to be active in the print
settings. Since the bracket highlighting does not convey any useful
information without a cursor present, it should not be present in the
print.

The error can be seen in the print preview, too.

PDF print for attached (the '>'
was highlighted in the editor).

Reproduced with gedit 2.28.0 (pkg version 2.28.0-0ubuntu2) on Ubuntu
9.10.

[Bug 217762] Re: Xubuntu the printing and default printer are too ease to mistake for each other

2010-03-15 Thread Charlie Kravetz
This looks fixed in Xubuntu 9.10. I have Applications -> Settings ->
Default Printer and I have Applications -> System -> Printing . Default
Printer is self-explanatory, and Printing is used to set up the printer.

I am closing it because the bug has been fixed in the latest stable
version of Xubuntu, 9.10. It won't be fixed in previous versions of
Xubuntu because the package doesn't fit the requirements for
backporting. See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports for

[Bug 533578] Re: Port security patches for Polipo from Lucid to Karmic and below

2010-03-15 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thanks for submitting the debdiff. There are some issues with it that
need to be fixed before it can get uploaded:

- The changelog and the release number need to be properly formatted as per
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/UpdatePreparation#Update%20the%20packaging
- The patches need to be tagged, as per the procedure here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/PatchTaggingGuidelines

I am unsubscribing the ubuntu-security-sponsors team now. Please submit
a corrected debdiff, subscribe ubuntu-security-sponsors and set the
status of this bug back to "NEW".
