[Bug 539300] Re: [Lucid] Network Manager Applet Wi-Fi icon always shows red exclamation mark
I'm seeing something similar using latest Lucid packages on a Dell Mini 10v with Broadcom wireless. However, the icon is only greyed-out with a red exclamation mark on my home network; at work the icon is as expected. In both cases I have a fully working network connection and the Connection Information window shows sensible information. So, it seems to be affected by the network I'm connecting to: home is a Belkin router and a 192.168.0.x net, work is a Netgear router and a 192.168.1.x net. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error caused by a corrupted archive. [Bug 532633] Re: [light-theme] please revert the order of the window controls back to menu:minimize, maximize, close
Mark, I appreciate you commenting on this issue. Might I suggest that if you do want to relocate the controls to the left hand side consider at least leaving the close button on the right for this LTS release - for consistency (pretty much all tabs, multiple document interfaces etc. have the close on the right and it's quite late in the cycle to try patching everything from Ooo to Firefox to Nautilus etc.) This is also what Ivanka suggested, and I came up with the same solution when I tried to work out where I'd put the buttons ( http://kazade.livejournal.com/4695.html ). After using it a while it's quite a nice solution, it also looks consistent between windows with all buttons and dialog/toolbox windows that only have a close button. Next release you could then move the close button across to the left if that is what is required, but it's worth noting that if the buttons are on the left they will be directly under the hoverable Activities button in gnome-shell. As we don't completely know what Gnome 3 is going to bring I think making this change in an LTS, which you may need to revert, might not be the best idea. -- [light-theme] please revert the order of the window controls back to menu:minimize, maximize, close https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532633 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 490632] Re: Ubuntu misinterprets available battery charge on laptop and shuts down in 2 minutes even with 98% charge remaining!
I have this same problem, but I know it's my battery that is to blame, since it reported wrong battery status even with Windows. The problem is that Ubuntu nicely presumes the battery is working like it should, and keeps shutting down even when the battery is full. It gets quiet annoying after a while. Why there is no option to do nothing? This remind me of all the horrible Windows memories, how the operating system presumes I'm too stupid and get confused if I have too many options. -- Ubuntu misinterprets available battery charge on laptop and shuts down in 2 minutes even with 98% charge remaining! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/490632 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 532633] Re: [light-theme] please revert the order of the window controls back to menu:minimize, maximize, close
2c I decided to stick with the buttons on the left after the change, to see how it worked out for me. I'm still getting used to it but having the maximise to far left, I find useful, it's the easiest to locate and the button I use most. I've noticed that I don't (or haven't so far) closed any windows by mistake - conversely it's harder to close windows when I want to. Again, I'm still in the mode of learning the new position and though I no longer go over to the right with my pointer, the button order is still something I have to look at. From an aesthetic point of view, I find the menu and control clumping to the left to be slightly too busy and have found the space on the right being blank to emphasise this. There appears to be a plan for this though so maybe it'll even out the look. Overall the Ambience and Radiance themes are really very nice. Radiance seems particularly well done in comparison to a number of other dark themes I've used. The palette in Ambience seems to work well. People don't like change, I guess. It'll be interesting to see the reaction to Gnome Shell. -- [light-theme] please revert the order of the window controls back to menu:minimize, maximize, close https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532633 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@Sebastien. It Seems to the same bug. This one was raised first though so technically it's a duplicate of this one ;) I am concerned by the lack of official response to any of these bugs by the Gnome team. This change does not really affect me, the only thing I find wrong with this decision is that ubuntu users where not told about any of the changes which would happen, and had to find it out themselves from the alpha release :( On 16 March 2010 09:52, meborc meb...@gmail.com wrote: Mark - how about you moving the exiting new stuff you are going to implement to the left side, and leaving buttons to the right? :) or is the menu going to be the obstacle then? Why is the right upper corner so important? I guess it has something to do with the indication pop-ups. But LOWER right corner is also a nice place to put stuff, so you could leave the buttons on the right side and implement the new stuff in the lower right corner. [Bug 532756] Re: [GeForce 6100 GO] Image and Xv corruption
Sorry, this do not make sense to me, corruption is random, sometime happen sometime no ... Anyway disabling acceleration is not an option if someone want to use pc for something else than have nice picture on monitor: every time I scroll I have to wait 2 second for monitor to refresh ... for some reason application (or gtk or other library) use heavy algorithm for scrolling that make things more slowly than a 15 year old pc. The only option for scrolling in firefox (continuous) is disabled. I reenabled accel, I randomly get no corrupted screen, tough I set NoXVideo true but it is not used. There is an option to disable nouveau for some chipset and use nv? thus option for who want to test nouveau on go 6100 is to use edges archives -- [GeForce 6100 GO] Image and Xv corruption https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532756 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 532633] Re: [light-theme] please revert the order of the window controls back to menu:minimize, maximize, close
Mark your answer makes no sense at all. IF you decide to add something new on the right side in 10.10, then switch the buttons in 10.10, and people will get use to that much quicker, 'cause they will see WHY you did that. If the change is in 10.04, it will just look like a nonsense decision, but it actually IS nonsense. Do you really think people can better get used to something that isn't there and makes their life harder, than actually seeing why the change is there? I don't need 6 months to get used to something useful, nobody does. If the change has a sense, you get used in a day. But it 10.04 it has no sense, at all. -- [light-theme] please revert the order of the window controls back to menu:minimize, maximize, close https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532633 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 539477] [NEW] Fn+F8 key combination doesn't work on Dell E5500
Public bug reported: The Fn+F8 key combination on my Dell E5500 does not work in Lucid (this key combination should be able to switch video modes). Debugging with xev, it seems that the key combination is mapped to the letter p at the X layer. Debugging further down the stack shows that the scancode from Fn+F8 also matches that of the p key. This combination worked properly in Karmic. Using showkey -k, the keycodes are as follows: [p] = 25 [Fn]+[F8] = 25 (although I also see keycode 125 as I press F8, and I see 125 release as I let go of the Fn key) Using showkey -s, the scancodes are as follows: [p] = 0x19 0x99 [Fn]+[F8] = 0x19 0x99 (although I also see 0xE0 0x5B as I press F8, and I see 0xE0 0xDB as I release Fn) ProblemType: Bug AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21.
