[Bug 521492] Re: Dual Monitor wallpaper is not scaling across both monitors, same background is repeated on both monitors instead
I think the "span" option is pretty pointless. unless you have the exact resolution wallpaper as both of your screen you have. Or else you will just have a random image in the middle of two monitors. forget about the ideal solution, which is be able to set wallpaper in any variant. But at least for me. Span should be "Span and Stretch" to fit across both of the monitor. I mean a silly work around is use GIMP to resize the wallpaper you want to put into the exact total screen solutions. Just like the patch trying to do. but I have no idea how to patch at the moment. If I understand this correctly, this is the same issue as upstream bug #594153 "setting alarms on meetings owned by others is prevented". There is patch attached to that bug. AFAIK the upstream will not update 2.28, they moved to 2.30. It could be the problem. If you want to test on a fresh Firefox profile, this will let us know whether or not the problem is due to any add-ons or settings. You do not need to delete your old profile to test, just use the profile manager to create a new profile. [Bug 577700] [NEW] Unable to add more than 2 WLANs "normally"
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager-kde I have joined two wireless networks without problems and saved their profiles. Now I want to join a third one, but everytime I click on the SSID, the "add network connection" windows opens but instead of showing SSID and other data of the network I want to join it shows the data of one of the already existing profiles (mostly the last one entered). If I change now the displayed values to the one matching the current wireless network and click "ok", the already existing entry which data was displayed is overwritten. The menu entry "Connect to other wlan" (or similar) shows the same behavior. To have more than two profiles I had to open the management list of networks and add one manually. Sorry that I can not provide the original names of the windows, I use a german version so I guess it may not be very helpful. The bug appears with the "original" 10.04 as well as with kde 4.4.3 packages installes from the kubuntu-ppa. [Bug 562843] Re: [Lucid] [drm:rs400_gart_adjust_size] *ERROR* Forcing to 32M GART size (because of ASIC bug ?)
Further information. My Dell 131L has 1GB RAM, and I was able to successfully use the "radeon.modeset=0" fix in grub.cfg. Specifically: - go to /boot/grub/grub.cfg - make a copy of this file somewhere safe in case you mess up your edit! - find the line with your preferred kernel, it probably has the word "quiet" in the options - add "radeon.modeset=0" to the list of options (I added mine right after "quiet") - save your grub.cfg That's it. When you boot next, the Radeon will not try to change to a higher resolution mode. Thus your terminal (if you are doing this on "Lucid Server") will have big fat characters instead of nice clean smaller ones. Oh well. As a bonus, I added "splash" to my list of kernel options to prove to myself I was using a machine with this update during boot (I am working on several machines at once). For some weird reason, of 3 Dell 131L laptops of exactly the same spec and BIOS and with this exact same software installation, only one of them fails every time to boot. Nevertheless, I put this fix in all of them. -- [Lucid] [drm:rs400_gart_adjust_size] *ERROR* Forcing to 32M GART size (because of ASIC bug ?) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/562843 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 577693] [NEW] squid restart fails
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: squid Any method of restarting squid fails to restart it. Such as: u...@scrap:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/squid restart [sudo] password for user: Rather than invoking init scripts through /etc/init.d, use the service(8) utility, e.g. service squid restart Since the script you are attempting to invoke has been converted to an Upstart job, you may also use the restart(8) utility, e.g. restart squid restart: Job failed to restart = u...@scrap:~$ sudo service squid restart [sudo] password for user: restart: Job failed to restart === u...@scrap:~$ sudo restart squid restart: Job failed to restart == After a while, a "start" using any of these methods works fine. I'm assuming the root problem is that squid takes considerable time to shut down; in the previous init system, "/etc/init.d/squid stop" would not return until squid had exited. The new behavior of returning immediately is quite desirable in the effort to speed suspend and shutdown times, but I think "restart" is still just implemented by "stop" immediately followed by a "start". If the current "stop" behavior is retained, I would guess "restart", instead of being "stop" then "start", will have to have a check for pid exit placed into it. squid shutdowns are on the order of 10s of seconds so if this involves polling I would check every second at the most.
