[Bug 311869] Re: Add driver for Sentelic Touch pad
@ Hans, I found out I had sentelic by using the "xinput list" command I found at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticsTouchpad It says that I have a FSPPS /2 Sentelic FingerSensingPad with id=12 (slave pointer 2) Above that, it says: Virtual Core Pointer id=2 (master pointer 3) also: Virtual Core XTEST pointer id=4 (slave pointer 2) I'm not sure what those means, or if that's meaningful info.. Below that it lists my usb-mouse The Live-usb is new, no updates. In fact, I've made new live-usbs several times: the Netbook edition, Linux Mint 9, and then the Lucid i386 once again. The same problem exists. In fact, if anything, it's getting worse nowEven my usb-mouse is malfunctioning right now...it's left clicking persistently...I'm reporting all this from another computer, because the netbook is a pain to work with right now... I appreciate all that you have done to help. The netbook is not mine...My friend will need it soon...if nothing turns up, I'll have to try a Windows 7 install. She was actually happy with Ubuntu too before this incident, because her previous Xp was virus ridden. -- Add driver for Sentelic Touch pad https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311869 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 589377] Re: when changing the background colors of the theme Ambiance, the window buttons change side (into the right) automatically
Thank you BG for reporting this bug. I have been trying to reproduce your bug, but I am missing some information. Could you precisely list down the steps you did to reproduce the bug? This is what I did to try to reproduce your bug: 1. In the Control Panel, click on System->Preferences->Apperance (it opens Apperance Preference window). 2. From the Theme tab, select Ambiance 3. At the bottom, click on Customize (it opens Customize Theme window) 4. From the Colours tab, click on the colour button of Windows and Background and set the color name to something very dark: #231D11. 5. Select OK to apply the new colour. 6. Open firefox. Expected value: the windows minimize, maximize and close button should be on the left. This is what I get so far. Please provide more details so that I can reproduce the bug. -- when changing the background colors of the theme Ambiance, the window buttons change side (into the right) automatically https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/589377 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 589547] [NEW] Screen jumps to maximum brightness on Asus K52F
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: acpi Whenever I dim the screen of my Asus K52F laptop, it stays at my desired level for just a few minutes, then jumps at the maximum value and stays there. I am using Ubuntu Lucid with both the stock kernel (2.6.32-22) and the latest from the Ubuntu Kernel PPA (2.6.34-rc7). The problem is present with both. [Bug 589548] [NEW] Ubuntu Lucid Spontaneously Freezes or Logs out
Public bug reported: First, I am not sure if Gnome is really the problem. However, because Ubuntu's byzantine bug reporting system does not give one the option of reporting a bug without first declaring which package is at fault, I had to pick at something. I chose Gnome because it was the most general package I could think of. The problem is that Ubuntu/Gnome routintely and spontaneously freezes or logs me out. The frequency is something around once per hour, or once per two hours. It seems to be more frequent on battery power, but there is a certain amount of randomness to the time between the problem occuring, so it is hard to be sure. When spontaneously logging me out, the screen will suddenly go black, and then return to the log in screen after about 30 seconds to a minute. When freezing, the mouse will still be able to move, but I can not get any response by clicking on anything on screen. Trying to shut down X by pressing [ctrl]+[alt]+[backspace] also does not work. When the laptop freezes this way, the only way to get back to operation is to force a shut down by holding the power switch on the laptop. I have not been able to deduce any cause. For example, the last three times it crashed, this is what I was doing: * Moving an event in Google Calendar within FireFox. * Opening Gedit * Midway through a system update using the Update Manager I can not see a commonality in the actions before the problem occurs, so I assume it is something general about graphics or system operation that is always in effect, and that the problem is essentially random. I have a Panasonic CF-Y2 "Let's Note" laptop computer. The video chipset is known to be problematic: VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device However, I do not get the black screen on boot that others report, so I can not be sure that this is the source of the problem. In any case, with regards to my video settings, I do not have an /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, and I use the intel driver at http://ppa.launchpad.net/glasen/intel-driver/ubuntu I looked in /ver/log to see which files had been updated prior to the last crash, and I didn't see much, but I thought these might be relevant. [Bug 589543] [NEW] Cacti php errors after upgrade from Hardy to Lucid
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cacti I had a hardy/804 cacti running and just upgraded to Lucid, which upgraded PHP 5.3.2 and Cacti to 0.8.7e. dpkg -l |grep cacti ii cacti 0.8.7e-2 Frontend to rrdtool for monitoring systems and servic ii cacti-spine 0.8.7e-2build1 Multi-Threading poller for cacti When visiting the cacti url after the lucid upgrade, the GUI propose a DB upgrade which went well. I understood to ignore the deprecated PHP warnings one should add to /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_DEPRECATED or to /usr/share/cacti/site/include/config.php error_reporting(~E_DEPRECATED); I tried both and restarted Apache, but it stubbornly continues to show them. The error "Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /usr/share/cacti/site/lib/html_validate.php:38) in /usr/share/cacti/site/graph_view.php on line 78" refers to source lines that refernce regular expression, thus related to the new PHP too. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. hi devs, good to know that you are working on that request; i agree that bug #189881 is a better request than this one, even if some details are different, the spirit is the same: instead of a full history where each command is logged everytime, for the ease of users to recall past commands: dont make duplicates, and if possible sort them by frequencies: the most used on top of history. -- bash history without duplicates https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/415217 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 548415] Re: Shutdown timer no longer appears
I agree with Hellion and lavinog. I actually found the timer thoughtful design. It was one the features that I liked the most since switching from windows. It would be great if users could themselves decide whether to countdown or not. Please leave us the option to tweak this feature. I don't think we ask for a 'fully modal OS'. The shutdown dialog has a particular status as it defines the future of the system as a whole and should not be generalized. Having a different recognizable dialog makes thus sense (for me)... with a countdown. :) -- Shutdown timer no longer appears https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/548415 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 458655] Re: Facebook app my Aquarium -
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.04). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 458655, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. ** Changed in: firefox-3.5 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- Facebook app my Aquarium - https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458655 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 311869] Re: Add driver for Sentelic Touch pad
hi steven, the problem also existing on the live-usb is a bit strange, did you allow the live-usb drive to update? (a live-usb is not read-only like a CD, in fact it's more like a normal installation on an external drive. changes made to it during a session stay after reboot.) i think you should try to make a new live-usb and see if the touchpad is working fine from there (and how the serio1 and 0 folders look). also try if you can use the scroll function (hold your finger in the upper- and lower-right corner), it should be enabled by default in lucid. to me your story sounds like the touchpad was recognized and working with a clean install/live-usb, and broke down after updates (or changes to your configuration). one last question: how did you find out that you're "blessed" with a sentelic touchpad? -- Add driver for Sentelic Touch pad https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311869 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 397230] Re: ignoredupes in HISTCONTROL does not work anymore
FWIW, I don't really consider this bug fixed. The question is where the bug is, whether it's wishlist, regression or whatnot. I currently don't see a way to avoid $ history | cut -b 8-|sort|uniq -c|sort -n|tail -n 3 19 ping www.google.de 25 bg 26 sudo gnome-ppp As long as that is the case, something is not right IMO. I was just about to open a separate ticket for that (because arguably, this particular issue is indeed fixed, albeit it doesn't really help much). That's when I stumbled across bug 189881. -- ignoredupes in HISTCONTROL does not work anymore https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/397230 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
