[Bug 283531] Re: Only part of the window is displayed in cheese after saving photos or video
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? [Bug 572012] Re: package blcr-dkms 0.8.2-10 failed to install/upgrade: blcr kernel module failed to build
You may be right; the description of the package linux-image-2.6.32.22-generic (x86_64) which I have installed states that this package "also includes the corresponding System.map file", yet there is not such file on my computer (and the above described bug also affects me). So the issue might in fact be with the linux-image-2.6.32-22-generic package (2.6.32-22.35, x86/x86_64). BTW: This bug seems to be duplicated - there is a whole family of bugs 534175, 502261, 586875 , 572012, 583755, 590092 concerning probably the same issue. -- package blcr-dkms 0.8.2-10 failed to install/upgrade: blcr kernel module failed to build https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/572012 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

+1 to Dixon, thank you for the quick-fix. I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1501 with ATI Xpress 1150. What a nightmare, didn't even know what to search for with this one, "Ubuntu 10.04 boot videocard crash colored lines" finally got me to this thread. I couldn't even get the boot options up before the crash, tried the usual "esc", "ctrl+alt+F1", etc, didn't know you had to hold down Shift now. Hope we can get a proper fix pushed out soon; yes, one of us can hunt down this thread and figure out what changes to make, but someone new to the amazing world of Ubuntu probably wouldn't and we don't want their first experience to be like this. -- [Lucid] [drm:rs400_gart_adjust_size] *ERROR* Forcing to 32M GART size (because of ASIC bug ?) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/562843 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 497219] Re: Playing audio cd - Rhythmbox seems to jump tracks - occassional put-put sound.
Hello Kamus: Thank you for your inquiry. Recently I deleted 9.04 and made a "clean installation" of Lucid 10.04 ( I'm trying to become familiar with Lucid, and to get Totem to play DVD's) . My PC and hardware are unchanged . When playing an audio CD ( using Rhythmbox) the sound "skips / jumps" occasionally. I also have a "clean install" of 8.04 on a separate removable HDD. What is interesting is that when I play the same CD (via Rhythmbox) using 8.04, the sound is OK and does not "skip" or distort ! I hope this is the info you wanted. [Bug 517925] Re: The help files won't print
Hello Mitch and Charlie, Thanks for your work on this. However, now I've just installed Lucid and am very frustrated to see that this issue is still not fixed -- at least on my installation. In fact, it's worse, as neither the workaround above nor the print preview work. Can you replicate this in Lucid? However, something really irregular happened -- I was able to print one help page, but then the print function stopped working after that first page. My workaround is to cut and paste into another text editor, but that's a pain because I lose the formatting (i.e., the table indentations). Incidentally, is there a reason why the help files aren't on HTML, so that they can be printed from any HTML browser? Or is this a GNOME issue that you have no control over? Thanks so much for your help. I'm still very new to Ubuntu and am reading (and printing) the help files to learn how to use it better. So, it seems that actually, even if I don't run "killall gnome-panel", the white bar tends to eventually go away. [Bug 590634] [NEW] please use tinyproxy specific user and group
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: Binary package hint: tinyproxy Tinyproxy's default configuration is to user nobody:nogroup. This is a bad idea if other applications are configured to use nobody or nogroup -- I've filed bugs for other applications about this, so I'm sure it happens -- because unrelated applications can signal each other or use up each other's disk quotas or read shared memory segments. Further, the user 'nobody' exists so NFS servers and other networked file systems have a user they can use for their filesystem tests -- if there are files owned by the user 'nobody', this can grant unexpected access to users via a technique intended to squash all special privileges. ** Affects: tinyproxy (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Visibility changed to: Public -- please use tinyproxy specific user and group https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/590634 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I kept a partition with lucid hoping this would get fixed but just wiped it and installed maverick Alpha 1 + all updated (through tonight) bringing it to kernel 2.6.34-5. Sadly I still can't connect with either of the WPA2 wireless access points I commonly use. Does anyone know what (if anything) is different WRT the RT2860 driver in maverick vs. the backports? [Bug 590611] [NEW] gnome-settings-daemon crashes on login
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon Sometimes, when logging in (maybe 1 out of 3 or 1 out of 2 times), the gnome-settings-daemon crashes (nothing is visible when doing "ps -A | grep gnome-settings"). The system falls back to the original GTK+ theme instead of my Ubuntu Studio theme. I am using the NVIDIA drivers 195.36.07.04 (which are experimental, not supported by Ubuntu, I need OpenGL 3.3 support). The theme goes back to normal when I launch "gnome-settings-daemon" or when I try to change the appearance of the desktop. [Bug 590599] [NEW] Webpage opens in wrong spot in Amazon
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox On opening a link to a book on www.amazon.com (such as "http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0425235238/ref=s9_newr_gw_ir04?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-4&pf_rd_r=10Z98DRBG3S623SDGXT4&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470939031&pf_rd_i=507846"; for example) the page opens to the section titled "Tags Customers Associate with This Product" which apparently is a part of the page that is loaded last. In the same token this page itself (to fill out the bug report) opened in the are below this box towards the end. It's like Firefox doesn't know how to open pages before. I know this did not occur with the latest Firefox from Ubuntu 9.04 (which is what I was using until last week). if you want to reproduce go to the page listed above, right-click one of the books listed under "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" and open in new tab. You will see it does not open at the top of the page as expected.
