[Bug 591610] [NEW] memory leak
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kvm I installed a minimal ubuntu 10.04 system on an 8GB Core i7 (quad core) motherboard with a couple of TB seagate disks in RAID1. I stated 4 KVM VMs (created with ubuntu-vm-builder), two using virtio, two not and left spew(1) running in --read-and-write mode overnight as a stress test. The problem is that -Djava.security.policy is being set twice, firstly in /etc/init.d/tomcat6 to $CATALINA_BASE/work/catalina.policy (correct), secondly in /usr/share/tomcat6/bin/catalina.sh to $CATALINA_BASE/conf/catalina.policy (an invalid path). Unfortunately the second takes precedence, and so no policy file is actually used. To fix this, I suggest patching catalina.sh to change 'conf/catalina.policy' references to 'work/catalina.policy'. It would also be good to remove the explicit setting of -Djava.security.manager and -Djava.security.policy from the init.d script, since it is done anyway in the init script. [Bug 591875] [NEW] mysql_install_db run without --user in postinst
Public bug reported: release: 9.10 version: 5.1.37-1ubuntu5.4 When doing an upgrade of a mysql-server with binlogs enabled running mysql_install_db without --user=mysql will result in new binlogs created with root as owner thus resulting in failed upgrade and mysqld not starting. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: qemu-kvm this probably isn't a bug - I'm probably doing this to myself - my Lucid upgrade from Hardy broke my working qemu setup, running a win98 image. This is referred to in bug # 521994. To get the qemu working again, I removed (with aptitude) package qemu and package bochsbios from the lucid install, went back to the hardy archives, got those packages, and installed them. That way, I have a working qemu install. So, when updates came down the pipe per above, I tried to unselect all that I thought might break my working qemu setup, but I think I missed bochsbios; not sure. But, that's why I got the error above. The good news is, I was able to fix by # aptitude remove qemu-kvm, then The following packages will be REMOVED: bochsbios{u} qemu-kvm seabios{u} vgabios{u} And actually, I went back and installed package qemu with all of it's dependencies, but unfortunately, the lucid qemu install still misbehaves per bug # 521994. [Bug 585685] Re: Logout after switch user causes black screen and disables keyboard and mouse
I would say that this brings Nvidia 96 driver to the top of the list as the likely culprit. I do not have to do any user switching at all. Just a logout from the intitial session (kde or fluxbox), passing control back to KDM will cause the issue. Xorg.log does not contain any indication of what the issue is (at least at normal debugging levels). To clarify the Xorg shutdown step I did it through top using SIGKILL 9, Default SIGTERM 15 would not take it out. I assume that sudo kill -9 pid would work equally well. I have another 10.04 system running the Nvidia 195.36.24 drivers and there are no issues. -- Logout after switch user causes black screen and disables keyboard and mouse https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/585685 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 552681] Re: Mouse cursor trapped with right-click in menu, lose input control
I don't think this is a grace issue only. This is an X server issue. Unfortunaly there hasn't been a new release from Ubuntu yet. I have put a few notes on my blog on how I fixed this. Gladly rebuilding the X server from source is pretty straight forward these days in ubuntu If you are interested in the fix, please see: http://twboutnothing.blogspot.com/2010/06/details-for-ubuntu-1004-xorg-server-176.html -- Mouse cursor trapped with right-click in menu, lose input control https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/552681 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 585685] Re: Logout after switch user causes black screen and disables keyboard and mouse
Well, I just went to shut that system down and the bug is back. Currently running the Nouveau driver. This time there is no high CPU use. I did not have to kill Xorg but I did sudo /etc/init.d/kdm restart to get my screen back. So it is some issue with the logout transition. I can help test more tomorrow if needed. [Bug 360460] Re: Alternate install fails requesting same disc
I too am encountering this problem for ubuntu-10.04-server-amd64.iso.
