[Bug 594613] Re: 10.04: /etc/x11/xorg.conf deleted after reboot
Hi Mario, I spent yesterday another two hours tracking the error. It looks like the issue is not related to a missing /etc/X11/xorg.conf but related to the NVIDIA driver issues to detect the screen resolution. According to: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia#Low%20Screen%20Resolutions I have defined a modeline for 1920x1200 and set the Display to use this resolution only. Since then I had no more issues with X resolution. [Bug 527458] Re: please include status messages/tooltips
Ubuntu is already overweight and bloated. I'll beit, not as much as Winblows but it is. The reason I stick to Ubuntu is because it "just works". Though, now, It does not "just work" a lot of the times and this tool tip thing has just about done me in on switching back to Winblows. I have been using Ubuntu for about 3 years now and love it most of the time. It's times like these that I hate it... You people take a simple thing and turn it into something complicated! Why can't you just have an option to let the USER decide how THEY want to be notified? P.S. I am tired of playing the guessing game with the battery applet! [Bug 594942] [NEW] R-base - greek letters in plots dissapear

[Bug 583122] Re: firefox occasionally highlights contents of form fields while typing thereby overwriting previously entered keystrokes
This happens occasionally to me. Most common with gmail subject line in a new email, and the google search bar at the top right. It's a little reminiscent of a "bug" on a banking website I used to use. I would load it up, the entry bar would become visible, I'd type most of the number during which time the rest of the page would load and suddenly clear the typing I'd done. In gmail, when I'm writing a subject line and this starts, I basically have to alternate between a letter of the subject line and the right arrow (which moves the cursor to the end and de-selects the highlighted text). I have this on two separate lap tops, both of which had 9.10, and were then upgraded to 10.04 (about a week before the release in both cases). The problem only started with 10.04, as far as I can tell. -- firefox occasionally highlights contents of form fields while typing thereby overwriting previously entered keystrokes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/583122 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 538346] Re: Display manager in Ubuntu 9.10 not working with dual displays properly
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Hi, I have recently moved to Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic) and am running Kernal Linux 2.6.31-19-generic-pae and gnome 2.28.1. I have a dual monitor running off Geforce 8600 GT video card. The device driver on xorg.conf have been set to the genetic "nv" drivers w/ display setting used to allow the primary monitor to bleed into the second screen rather than using the propriety "nvidia" drivers w/ twinspan option on (this caused conflicts with various java programs I am using). The problem is that when booting the system I find that although visually the screens look OK, when I try and drag a window into the second screen 90% of the window will go but 10% will not -- it is as if I hit a wall. If I use "configure the display settings" to mirror the screens (and apply), then untick mirror screens(and apply), the screens are OK again -- i.e. the windows can be dragged back and forth OK. Any help would be appreciated. [Bug 559946] Re: cpio reports unknown error message when archiving big files
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and help to improve Ubuntu. The English error message that corresponds is "field width not sufficient for storing file size"; the German translation is Ubuntu- specific, no translation appears to be present upstream. The error occurs because the size of the file you're trying to save exceeds the field width available for storing this information. Since this is a problem of the defined cpio archive format, not of the cpio software, I'm afraid there's nothing we can do to correct this. [Bug 465309] Re: regular expression ^ by itself does not work in Find & Replace of Basic code
** Summary changed: - regular expression ^ by itself does not work + regular expression ^ by itself does not work in Find & Replace of Basic code ** Description changed: Binary package hint: openoffice.org In Find&Replace, a regular expression of "^" (without the quotes) never - matches anything. It should match the front of every line. + matches anything in the Basic macro editor (it reportedly does work in + document text). "^" should match the front of every line. For example, if you want to comment out a block of code in the Basic macro editor, it should be possible to Find ^ in a selection and replace it with "rem " and have "rem " inserted at the front of all the selected lines. But ^ alone does not work, and never matches any lines. The use of of ^ alone to match the start of lines (and, similarly $ for end-of-lines) has been a fundamental feature of regular expressions in computer systems since they were first widely used in 1970s Unix. OO should not deviate.
