Hi there, I used the latest RHEL6 Beta with libvirt-0.8.1-13.el6.x86_64 and the latest CentOS 5.5 with libvirt-0.6.3-33.el5_5.1. I tried Ubuntu 8.04 and 10.04 and both show about 50% of the performance that RHEL and CentOS do. This is a serious problem. No company, that wants to virtualize applications that need the performance, would choose kvm on Ubuntu as platform this way. If Ubuntu wants to be an enterprise ready distribution, they have to compete with RHEL, Xen, ESXi and things like that. The WLAN is not defined in /etc/network/interfaces these days. It was defined via network-manager and available for all users. I believe HAL manages it. I had the same problem upgrading slapd on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. Using a workaround (commenting out SLAPD_CONF in /etc/default/slapd and running `aptitude -f install`) I was able to make dpkg happy. Generally it's IMHO a bad idea to do too much magic in the postinst script of the slapd package - at least if it breaks so easily. libvirt code is probably calling gettext() (or _(), or similar) on an empty string. Hi, This upgrade was performed automatically via update manager. I had previously installed eucalyptus via apt-get on the command line. I'm not sure how I ended up with eucalyptus-nc being installed without eucalyptus-common being present. [Bug 616064] [NEW] Broken networking in kvm guests
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: qemu-kvm Some TCP operations receive unexpected reset (RST) packets when executed on the guest. I can see these RST packets via Wireshark but can't explain their source. This breaks certain (most) networking on the guest. I uncovered this when some 'git clone' operations failed with Broken Pipe in the guests. I've been able to reproduce the same failures using scp and 'svn checkout'. The failure occurs 80-90% of the time and 'svn checkout' seems to be the quickest to fail. The same operations on the host are always successful. My setup is a Lucid amd64 host with two guests (Lucid and Hardy, both i386, using kvm). Networking seems to mostly work. I can maintain persistent ssh connections to the guest and some networking operations from the guest (ie. ping) never fail. However, the git-clone/scp/svn- checkout operations fail almost all the time. I've tried this with both virtio and e1000 drivers with no difference. This may be similar to some of the behavior reported in bug 584048 but not the final patch referenced in comment 27. I see that people are asking around on IRC for somebody else to deal with this. Could you please be patient instead until I get back from holiday next week? Getting out of sync with Debian here would be very painful, and Daniel Baumann and I already have plans to put together a new bootloader-common package containing a debconf question so that you can select which (or none) of multiple installed boot loaders owns the MBR. I'm leaning towards this rather than having to more or less double the number of binary packages generated by grub2, but if that turns out not to be good enough to fix eucalyptus' problem then I would like to spend some time thinking about it and have the chance to make a change in consultation with other folks in Debian, since sooner or later d-i is going to need something similar and therefore this needs a considered change that solves the whole problem. Given the linked script, there should be no reason why you can't abandon your current approach and instead depend on grub-rescue-pc, take the pregenerated rescue floppy image that's already there, and use mtools to insert your loader.img and replacement configuration file. the correct version... I wonder if you previously installed eucalyptus,
then partially uninstalled.
This might be the reason for the error:

Meaning '/etc/eucalyptus' does not exist -- like it was forcefully
removed ('rm -rf /etc/eucalyptus'-type of action).
Can you please reinstall -common:

I had a similar issue. Used Update Manager to upgrade a BioLinux6 installation (Ubuntu 10.04 based). Also hung on Installing new version of config file /etc/init/mysql.conf ... /var/log/daemon.log revealed mysql respawning every 30 seconds as above. This had been going on for over an hour before I noticed. I killed the 'start mysql' process, and the upgrade continued. Installed a few more updates, Update Manager now claims that system is up to date. I've also confirmed that the version of openldap in lucid-proposed,
