[Bug 584243] Re: IPv4 addresses come sorted before IPv6 ones if you ask libc in teredo environment.
It's the same issue with 6to4 tunnel as well. I was wondering why my applications don't use ipv6 and I also found that getaddinfo() is returning ipv4 addresses before ipv6. So my 6to4 tunnel is useless because applications don't use ipv6 unless I explicitly instruct them to do so (eg. use ssh -6 or hostnames like www.ipv6.sixxs.net). If I added a native ipv6 address (for test purposes) getaddrinfo() started returning ipv6 address before ipv4. Last year (when I still used debian unstable) this wasn't the case, all applications were using ipv6 even though I had 6to4 tunnel. Is this a ubuntu specific modification or a new feature in glibc? I don't really understand the reasoning here. Native ipv6 connections can be unreliable just like 6to4 tunnels are, it just depends how good the network administrators are. For example, my 6to4 anycast address goes to a gateway provided by Funet (Finnish University and Research Network) and is of very good quality. I don't recall having any problems with the tunnel or the gateway during all those years I have been using them (which must be over five years), all the ipv6 problems have been elsewhere in the ipv6 network. In my opinion, if a user has gone all the trouble of creating an ipv6 tunnel, be it 6to4 or teredo, libc should honour that and prefer ipv6. -- IPv4 addresses come sorted before IPv6 ones if you ask libc in teredo environment. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/584243 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 577114] Re: Wireless and Bluetooth switch does not work correctly on lenovo ideapad s10-3
Thank you for the bios fix idea. I like the superglue on the wireless switch! I am going to use that one! The workaround I used to reactivate the wireless permanently was to reimage the hard drive back to the original Windows 7 installation. I was then able to reactivate the wireless using the Windows 7 troubleshooting wizard along with the Fn-F5 key combination. Once the wireless was active, I reinstalled Ubuntu and everything is working fine. I agree that the condition will happen again under the right conditions. On 8/14/10 in #ubuntu a number of us supported xissburg for something like 15 hours as this bug was preventing booting. Finally xissburg solved it by using a Windows7 recovery CD, but we left it before xissburg had been able to reestablish the 2nd entry in the bootloader for Win XP or their wubi ubuntu install. At one point in the troubleshooting this was xissburg'sd partition info: http://imagebin.org/109698 . Trying to access the link, which contains an important Screenshot. Forum keeps telling me to log in. I am logged in. Try to log in again, tells me my username is wrong !!! Try to recover password which I am sure is correct - written down @ time of creation & Confirming Acct Try to list my email acct - flez...@yahoo.com.au and it tells me the random question answer is wrong - ad nauseum ! The first letter of the alphabet was " a "when I went to school - or " A " - tried both, but WRONG ??? Also, when I went to school " 1+4=" equalled 5. WRONG AGAIN I am told. Tried once more - asked what colour "orange" is? Fair dinkum you blokes it could be any number of things - like a secondary colour, or a form of red. I tried "red & yellow" but NOT good enough. For two weeks I have been trying to hook up one lousy USB wireless broadband modem to my new Ubuntu 10.0.4 installn Tried three different approaches via forums, and cannot get it to work. Now, I cannot access this screenshot. What gives ??? [Bug 350936] Re: Should shut down domains on system shutdown
So does this mean that KVM is not properly supported on Ubuntu 10.04 Server LTS? The ability to automatically shutdown VMs when someone logs into a production host server and types /sbin/shutdown does not exist on a server operating sytstem flagged LTS that is supposed to be for production? This can't be. There must be something that is being overlooked here. I tried creating a simple traditional sys5 init script to test this out after the script I wrote failed to shutdown the guests on reboot or shutdown but works manually from the command line. [code] !/bin/bash ### BEGIN INIT INFO # Provides: virsh test # Required-Start: # Required-Stop: # Default-Start: # Default-Stop: 0 1 6 # Short-Description: Gracefull shutdown of all KVM guests. # Description: Shutdown KVM guests on host shutdown ### END INIT INFO /usr/bin/virsh list >>/var/log/kvmguest.log 2>&1 [/code] this works when i run it manually. I created a link from /etc/init.d/testscript to /etc/rc6.d/K5testscript. reboot server. and I get this message in the log error: unable to connect to '/var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock': Connection refused error: failed to connect to the hypervisor So ofcourse the guests are not shutdown gracefully on host shutdown. [Bug 618076] [NEW] GPU crash while playing doom 3
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel At a certain point in the doom 3 video game the screen freezes for about 5 seconds and then alternately flashes between black and some text which can't be read because the flashing cycles so quickly. I am using the native Linux version of Doom 3. This crash happens almost half way through the game and is consistent. I have a checkpoint just before where the crash happens so I can recreate it easily. The last time it crashed I was running apport and was able to get into a terminal with CTRL-ALT-1. I saved the output from dmesg, Xorg.0.log and i915_error_state. I'll attach these files to this error report. If there is any other information required please let me know as I can readily reproduce this bug. [Bug 365083] Re: Aumix appears in the xubuntu 9.04 menu, but I think this menu item should be hidden
This appears to still be Xubuntu Lucid, though I'm not sure if it appears in Maveric. I've attached a patch which hides it from the menu by default. Note, this patch also moves the software center toward the bottom of the menu. It's just a suggestion, but I think it makes more sense to have it toward the bottom of the menu, otherwise users have to scroll over it every time they want to launch regular apps. ** Patch added: "Update to Xubuntu default settings" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xubuntu-default-settings/+bug/365083/+attachment/1491084/+files/xubuntu-default-settings.patch -- Aumix appears in the xubuntu 9.04 menu, but I think this menu item should be hidden https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/365083 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Sorry, I didn't get it. What sense in posting a bug, which is replied more then a year after it was reported and the only answer is "use new version". [Bug 618052] [NEW] Audio corruption reading AAC stream
Public bug reported: I'm on Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS (64bit) My libfaad2 is v 2.7-4. This stream is from my local radio station: http://stream.wort- fm.org:8000/high-aacp This stream plays properly on a mac on VLC; but on Lucid it has the a popping and warbling glitch that happens every second or so. Playing with mplayer, totem, gst-launch, mpd, vlc (which all seem to use libfaad2) all have the same problem. (I'm guessing that VLC on OSX uses system-native AAC decoding?) I ruled out the network transport layer and audio configuration problems by using command-line tools like wget. I'm attaching "out.aac" that contains a good squeek sound for example. Note that faad can't do anything with this file, but the clients that use libfaad can decode it. I installed ffmpeg, and converted the stream into a wav file, which plays flawlessly. "mplayer out.aac" --> "ffmpeg -i out.aac ffmpeg.wav" "mplayer ffmpeg.wav" --> There's another bug #575798 against FAAD2 that may be related. I noticed that the clicks and pops happen less when the audio is simple (like when someone is talking rather than music playing)... perhaps this is a clue. ** Affects: faad2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Audio corruption reading AAC stream https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/618052 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
