[Bug 541511] Re: MASTER: [i855] GPU lockup (apport-crash)

2010-08-31 Thread Brian Rogers
I found a bug report for the invisible cursor issue. It's bug 614176
here and upstream here:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29413

When there's a fix, I'll put up a new kernel including it. I'll be
providing maverick kernels soon as well, so once the cursor bug is
fixed, maverick should become usable for you.

[Bug 627862] [NEW] USB Mouse freezes randomly but consistently

2010-08-31 Thread Glen Ramsay
Public bug reported:

Mouse (USB) freezes during X session at random intervals (between 1min
and 5 hours apart). Only known workaround is to reboot when it happens.

Mouse only freezes when being used, if the computer is unattended, no
freezing will occur.

It has occurred in Ubuntu 9.10 and now 10.04 (i believe 9.04 was OK).
Ive running the latest updates in the 10.04 build.

I can continue to use the system via the keyboard (USB). I have found
that if two mice are connected before one locks up, the second will
continue to work for a time, but is still susceptible to the above.

Once the mouse stops working, replugging into alternate USB ports or the
same does not fix it.

Ive scanned the following logs after the event and I find no useful info:
* /var/log/Xorg.0.log
* /var/log/messages
* /var/log/daemon.log

The kernel log does not have any info immediately after the event, but after
around two minutes, the following appears:

Sep 1 15:37:06 quantum kernel: [89521.010037] INFO: task khubd:44 blocked for

After the event, running 'lsusb' will block and not return anything
indefinitely.

Which has lead me to believe its a kernel related thing?

Im technically minded, so if you need anything else let me know.

Thanks for the trace but we need it with the symbols.
Could you please install chromium-browser-dbg and try to get a new trace ?

(installing libc6-dbg libglib2.0-0-dbg and libgtk2.0-0-dbg should
improve the trace too)

[Bug 619918] Re: Vino server (VNC/Remote desktop) does not respect alternative port setting

2010-08-31 Thread Anders Hasselqvist
There was two issues for me.

One, I did sudo gconf-editor This edits the wrong gconf files. You should
run this with the user that starts vino.
The second I used a port below 5000 which vino doesn't support. It supports
5000 < port < 5 if I remember correctly.

Thanks,
Anders

[Bug 627834] [NEW] Empathy won't make new Chat windows

2010-08-31 Thread Thomas Keene
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: telepathy-mission-control

I can't give reproduction steps, this is random.

After chatting a bit and closing chat windows, Empathy refuses to open a
new chat window no matter what. Apparently, mission-control crashes
when this happens.

Currently on the nightly build.

[Bug 426827] Re: krusader crashes on startup

2010-08-31 Thread Vladimir Rutsky
I have same problem as described in this bug report on Ubuntu 10.04
(krusader 1:2.0.0-1ubuntu3).

In my case problem was with value of "Left Active Tab" in krusaderrc at
"[Startup]" section - looks like it was greater than total number of
saved tabs at left panel.

Workaround for this bug is to open ~/.kde/share/config/krusaderrc, find
"Left Active Tab=XXX" (or "Right Active Tab=XXX") and replace it with
"Left Active Tab=0" ("Right Active Tab=0").

More stable option, I think, will be in removing whole "[Startup]"
section.

Attaching configuration on which bug can be reproduced with following callstack:
Application: Krusader (krusader), signal: Segmentation fault

[Bug 605042] Re: [armel] java fails to start with eglibc-2.12-0ubuntu4

2010-08-31 Thread Yao Qi
Can't reproduce this problem, here are steps,

1 Remove cvs-revert-flush-cache-textrels.diff from patch/series.
2 Rebuild eglibc
3 dpkg -i libc6_2.12.1-0ubuntu1_armel.deb
4 cp /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/lib/arm/server/libjvm.so .
5 Run ./testcase, no seg fault.
6.  strace -o 3.log java -version
.
mmap2(0x40499000, 8192, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE,
MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_FIXED|MAP_DENYWRITE, 3, 0x64) = 0x40499000
close(3)= 0
mprotect(0x40499000, 4096, PROT_READ)   = 0
mprotect(0x40172000, 2572288, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE) = 0
mprotect(0x40172000, 2572288, PROT_READ|PROT_EXEC) = 0
cacheflush(0x40172000, 0x403e6000, 0, 0x274000, 0x19448) = 0  // < [1]
mprotect(0x403ed000, 57344, PROT_READ)  = 0
open("/proc/self/auxv", O_RDONLY)   = 3
read(3,
"\20\0\0\0\3278\0\0\6\0\0\0\0\20\0\0\21\0\0\0d\0\0\0\3\0\0\0004\200\0\0"...,
256) = 144
.

It got seg fault on [1] in comment#1. In my case, cacheflush is
executed without seg faults.

Re: [Bug 623221] Re: hungarian language phoneme is broken and unusable

2010-08-31 Thread Attila Hammer
I do a package compilation with following way, first result is very good:
1. I run following command in /usr/src/espeak directory:
git clone git://git.debian.org/git/pkg-a11y/espeak.git
2. I navigate with espeak directory with following command:
cd espeak
3. Applyed Saumel Patch.
4. Run dpkg-buildpackage -b command.

Test results:
Espeak-data/phondata and espeak-data-local/phondata not producing binary
differences with target debian/usr/share/espeak-data/phondata file. When
I installed new packages, I not see any problem.

[Bug 627828] [NEW] nscd can't relocate __nss_services_lookup

2010-08-31 Thread Kent Tong
Public bug reported:

When trying to start nscd, it prints the following error:

r...@cladmr003:/lib# /etc/init.d/nscd start
 * Starting Name Service Cache Daemon nscd
/usr/sbin/nscd: relocation error: /usr/sbin/nscd: symbol __nss_services_lookup,

It is so because the __nss_services_lookup has been replaced by
__nss_services_lookup2 in libc-2.8.90.so.

The versions of nscd and libc are:

nscd   2.7-10ubuntu6

Hell, with time spent trying to figure out and make work, Properly this OS. I
am sure I could have done other things. That might have been better.

Though anyhow, I am pretty sure this bug, ( or what ever ) came from me trying
to install. ( from synaptic ) the, winefish, program.
Since for one, I have never had a problem as this before and thats the only
thing different. I have tried. ( On my 4 install of this Linux 10.4 )

Hope this helps, but then again. Oh well if it does'nt.

[Bug 627817] Re: firefox suspended whatever a download link clicked

2010-08-31 Thread Micah Gersten
Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Sometimes Firefox profiles can
become corrupt and/or extensions can conflict. Could you please try
this with a new profile and see if the problem still exists? You do not
need to delete your old profile to test. If this helps, you might want
to try to disable all your extensions and re-enable them one by one
until you find the problematic one.

You can start the profile manager with the following command:
firefox -ProfileManager

[Bug 447573] Re: Crash when mouse is over the window

2010-08-31 Thread Ludovico Cavedon
Thanks for taking the time to report the bug.

Does it happen consistently or only from time to time?
Would you be able to generate:
-a backtrace (running it with gdb, and using the "bt" command when it crashes)
-debug log (running "OWLOGGER_DEFAULT=debug qutecom" from a terminal)
-a core dump
please?

How to get a core dump:
Form the terminal:
-ulimit -c unlimited
-qutecom

When it crashes, it should generate "core" file, could you please
compress it (it will be pretty big) and make it available for download?
(Warning: it could contain private information, like the list of
contacts or the SIP password; I would not post the link here; if it is
ok with you, you could send it to me over private email).

[Bug 627822] [NEW] bcmwl driver not installed during install even when selected

2010-08-31 Thread Scott Kitterman
Public bug reported:

Using Kubuntu live 10.10 Beta candidate 20100901 with no internet
available

Selected the option to install restricted software

After install, no wifi available

jockey-text -a (which is what I understand is used) works in the live
session if run by hand.

After install, if I mount the USB based ISO and change the CDROM path to
/media/[USB_STICK_NAME then sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source
works.

[Bug 588203] Re: Please merge emacs23 23.2+1-4 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2010-08-31 Thread Michael Olson
I've uploaded a candidate to the ubuntu-elisp PPA (https://launchpad.net
/~ubuntu-elisp/+archive/ppa), and it should finish building shortly.
Change log follows:

emacs23 (23.2+1-4ubuntu1~ppa1) maverick; urgency=low

 * Resync with Debian. Remaining changes:
 * debian/control.in:
   - Change Maintainer to Ubuntu Core Developers, per Ubuntu policy.
   - Conflict and Replace emacs23-common-non-dfsg, since we provide
 all of its features.
   - Do not suggest emacs23-common-non-dfsg.
   - Replace use of Source-Version with source:Version.
   - Require autotools-dev (>= 20100122.1) in Build-Depends, since
 the version in Karmic will fail due to a missing Perl module.
 * debian/control: Regenerate.
 * debian/copyright.in:
   - Remove text about removed files.
 * debian/copyright: Regenerate.
 * debian/emacsVER-common.postinst:
   - Don't install info files to info/dir. This happens
 automatically now.
 * debian/emacsVER-common.prerm:
   - Don't remove info files from info/dir. This happens
 automatically now.
 * debian/patches:
   - handle-dfsg-split.diff: Remove.
   - ubuntu-restore-nondfsg-files.diff: New patch that reintroduces
 the non-DFSG files, with the exception of .elc files and info
 files, which use special characters and thus can't be easily
 represented in patch form. These will be regenerated at build
 time.
 * debian/rules:
   - Do not install replacements for non-DFSG files.
   - Install all info files, not just efaq.
   - Avoid uselessly building info files a 2nd time.

[Bug 625586] Re: ubiquity killed by OOM killer

2010-08-31 Thread Scott Kitterman
Please retest with the new ISO that has ubiquity 2.3.12 on it. It seems
to have resolved OOM problems I was having.

[Bug 533017] Re: Gwibber doesn't refresh streams (unsupported locale/language error not handled)

2010-08-31 Thread Mathieu Carbou
The issue is not resolved: Ubuntu Lucid, Gwibber 2.30.1

Twitter messages stopped updating. I've switched the language to only
have English US, also deleted couchdb files in .local, .config and
.cache and recreated all my accounts.

Nothing appears and nothing is refreshed.
