[Bug 610924] Re: "Duplicate sources.list entry" every apt-get update

2010-09-06 Thread Torsten Spindler
Is the duplicate entry stored in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/? I doubt apt-
get update should remove any lines from there. But I agree that the
warning message is misleading.

[Bug 632197] [NEW] lm-sensors limits and calculations aren't retained after waking from sleep

2010-09-06 Thread Samuel Tai
Public bug reported:

I'm running 10.04 x64, with btrfs / and ext2 /boot. All packages are
current from Synaptic.

I have a custom sensors.conf file in /etc/sensors.d, with set x_min and
set x_max values that are read when init starts /etc/init.d/lm-sensors
via sensors -s. The motherboard in question is an Asus M3N78-EM, with an
Athlon X2 4850e, 4 GB of RAM, onboard GeForce 8300 IGP, and no add-on
PCI cards. The custom sensors.d file is for the it8712-isa-0290 chip,
from the it87 kernel module, and replicates the limits from the
asus_atk0110 kernel module. (I use the it87 module because it has fan
PWM control, and the asus_atk0110 doesn't.) To allow it87 to load, I've
passed acpi_enforce_resources=lax on my kernel boot line.

After a normal boot, running "sensors" from a shell window shows the
limits in question, with the appropriate calculations for the +5V and
+12V lines.

The it87 module survives sleeping and waking, but running "sensors" from
a shell window after waking shows the default limits and all
calculations are gone. Running "sudo sensors -s" manually restores
these. To prevent this behavior, I had to drop a script in
/etc/pm/sleep.d to run "sensors -s" on thaw.

[Bug 632186] [NEW] dual-layer optical drive causes a "image is too large" error even when I have chosen the appropriate ISO

2010-09-06 Thread Sandeep
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: usb-creator

I have a dual layer optical drive with a DVD in it.
I had a blank 4-GB Sandisk Cruzer.
When I fire up usb creator, I see that it chooses the optical drive as the
source by default. I browse to a Ubuntu ISO (which I have used successfully)
and select it.

I still get an error that "image is too large".

I then unmounted/ejected the optical drive. Started up usb creator again
- this time, I have no problems creating a startup disk successfully.

[Bug 528567] Re: Ubuntu One Music Store plugin

2010-09-06 Thread Kasoroth
I like Thibault's suggestion of putting the plugin's main interface in a
new tab. Perhaps the best interface solution would be a generic "Music
Stores" tab on the panel that would have a list of (possibly) multiple
different music stores. Individual music store plugins like this one
could add an entry to this list, which would open a new tab with the
music store interface. This would be consistent with the behavior of
the other tabs, for example, selecting the "Playlists" tab shows a list
of available playlists in the panel, and double clicking on one will
open it in a new tab.

[Bug 632182] [NEW] package man-db 2.5.7-4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-09-06 Thread Erik B. Andersen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: man-db

I started the maverick daily image and started the (new) installer. I did tell
it to update the new system, but I am not sure if that is relevant. Then the
apport icon appeared and said the package failed to upgrade.

[Bug 239722] Re: xorg fails to correctly detect Satellite pro 4600 and 6000 screen resolution

2010-09-06 Thread tcsp
Update.

I bodily dragged the Ubuntu 6.06 /etc/X11/xorg.conf file across and all
is well with the screen.

This implies something else has changed as /etc/X11/xorg.conf file
editing made no difference to 9.04 et al

Still, all seems ok now. GREAT!

However!!! My cpu fan seems to not work now! (1st seen in 9.04) So I
don't know if it is safe to use the laptop!

Obviously this topic is not concerned with fans but I suspect others
with display problems may have this to deal with too!

Regards

2010-09-06 Thread Robert Dyer
Ok remove that file. If you have added gedit to your dock (pinned it,
dragged a launcher to it, etc) you will probably have to remove that
from your dock and re-add it (after deleting this file).

[Bug 632169] [NEW] [Realtek ALC662 rev1] Recording problem -- microphone no long works after some time

2010-09-06 Thread Erik B. Andersen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

After some time after starting my computer, my microphone doesn't work. If I
restart the computer, the microphone works again until enough time has passed
(probably in the 15 minute range, but I've never tried to keep track). I can
also make the microphone start working again by running sudo killall
pulseaudio, which does the same thing as a restart.
(Normally, I would expect the microphone to consistently work.)

hi John,

here are your #33 requests:

my system:
home made desktop: p5wdh+q9550+8500gt+4go ddr2+2pata+1sata
os: maverick i386 with latest main server updates (35-20-generic-pae)

nvidia-current 256.53-0ubuntu2

note: compiz completly removed/purged

how it boot:

start as it might, gdm ask for password, i enable numlock as my password
is built with num+letters, write the password and validate (enter): at
that time gdm fail and it ask again for password, but numlock is again
disabled (strange), i enabled numlock again and validate my password,
now its working.

what is logged:

i've booted with plymouth:debug on the boot line.
/var/run/gdm/ : cant read it, the icon folder is greyed with an x, own by
root:gdm (i've my user added to gdm group)

[Bug 632158] [NEW] Mailto error when updated

2010-09-06 Thread Lucas Simon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

When thunderbird is updated the command in configuration editor needs to
change to the new updated version for the mailto command. I had to
manually go in to the Configuration editor to "/desktop/gnome/url-
handlers/mailto" and change it from
"/usr/lib/thunderbird-3.0.5/thunderbird "%s" to
"/usr/lib/thunderbird-3.0.6/thunderbird "%s" so that the mailto command
would work for me. I the future when thunderbird updates again I will
probably have to do this process again.

[Bug 471871] Re: [Dell Computer Corporation Inspiron 600m] suspend/resume failure

2010-09-06 Thread Wirawan Purwanto
Following Gerrit's suggestion (#23) caused me to have suspend failure.
Upon examining the /var/log/pm-suspend.log, I found the following error:

/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/99video suspend suspend:kernel.acpi_video_flags = 0
--quirk-no-fb passed, but system is using a framebuffer.
Aborting.
Returned exit code 1.
Tue Sep 7 00:43:56 EDT 2010: Inhibit found, will not perform suspend
Tue Sep 7 00:43:56 EDT 2010: Running hooks for resume

What's going on here? I installed 10.04.1 on Dell D600 (Latitude) which is
supposed to be the business version of 600m (this computer has a 600m shell
btw). the video card is:

Hi Reinhard,

Thank you for your comment.
I'll try to install the new version mplayer.
You know I just find mplayer in the software center( I'm not sure its
name, the language is chinese)
I installed it. Then, it gave me the error message.
Now, I think I can do it well.

[Bug 522538] Re: gwibber-service crashed with error in connect()

2010-09-06 Thread Stuart Bishop
Gwibber in Lucid is pretty much unusable due to this bug. A work around
is to install the Gwibber packages from Maverick, which is working just
fine here. The Maverick packages do not use desktop-couch. Keeping the
Maverick packages up to date is an exercise for the reader as I don't
think the stable 2.31 releases exist in a PPA.

[Bug 548713] Re: Please upgrade flightgear to 2.0

2010-09-06 Thread Nicola Ferralis
It looks like there is no action on the Debian bug... I doubt it will
make in on time for Maverick.

[Bug 477430] Re: grub 2 error: out of disk. failed to boot default entries. press any key to continue...

2010-09-06 Thread Bananabob
More information about this bug.

If I boot from the 10.04.01 LTS Live CD and "restart" the system
10.04.01 will boot from the hard drive, but it issues a message "error:
out of disk." just before it continues the boot sequence.

If I "cold boot" directly from the hard drive I get as far as the
"error: out of disk." message and the boot sequence stops with the "grub
rescue" message.

Obviously there is no way I am going to boot the Live CD and do a
"restart" every time I want to boot my system so I am staying on 8.04
LTS until I can get a clean boot from 10.04.

I have attached the grub.cfg from the hard drive of my 10.04 install.
The fact that it boot from a "restart" and the fact that I checked with
a "sudo blkid" means that there is no problem with the UUID.
