[Bug 572878] Re: Lucid LTS Live CD installer hangs after keyboard selection (Step 3)
Finally I found a (the?) solution to the problem: The disk partitioner had some problems with the partitioning of one of my HDDs. When unplugging /dev/sdb and /dev/sdc the installer (10.04 and 10.10) would run nicely. After creating a new partition table (backup first!) and then re-creating the partitions I ran the installer again and successfully completed the installation without any complications. Don't know where this came from as to my knowledge I only used *nix tools to partition the drives. Hope this helps. -- Lucid LTS Live CD installer hangs after keyboard selection (Step 3) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/572878 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 660299] Re: Missing dependency
@platypuss72: I'd be happy to help. If you have added my PPA then you should be getting the patched version without having to apply the patch yourself. You can check that by running "aptitude show gpodder" (or find it somewhere in your favorite graphical package manager). If the Version field says 2.6-1ubuntu0gspr1, you have my patched version. In that case I must have missed some icon somewhere, and it would be nice if you could run gpodder from a terminal and show the output here. Hopefully I can then extend my patch. If the Version field does not end with "gspr1", then you don't have the correct version, and we should take the rest over private e-mail (see my Launchpad profile) so at not to annoy the others. -- Missing dependency https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/660299 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Was able to reproduce most of it, and I know where the problem lies. [Bug 654429] Re: evulution leaks memory
I have installed tracker-dbg and made a valgrind run of evolution. Strangely, evolution does not always eat up all available memory. During this run, it kept at around 4GB Virtual and 16% Real (making it 1.3GB of real RAM on my 8GB machine.) Don't know if this has something to do with valgrind. Although, I have noticed before that time between start of Evolution and unresponsiveness of the system (due to lack of free RAM) greatly vary. Seems to be dependent on the number of new messages, or the last time Evolution opened up a Mailbox. Nevertheless, 1.3GB RAM usage just for 2 POP Accounts and 3 IMAP Accounts as well as ~10 CalDAV Calendars far too much. ** Attachment added: "Valgrind Log with tracker-dbg installed" https://bugs.launchpad.net/evolution/+bug/654429/+attachment/1715348/+files/valgrind.tar.gz -- evulution leaks memory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/654429 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I have a sony vaio C1Z that I installed ubuntu 10.10 on. I'm using the 32 bit ubuntu 10.10 standard desktop edition. The CPU temperature starts out at about 40 C and slowly creeps its way up to 70 C. After 72 C the PC shuts down, I assume some safety system on the motherboard is kicking in. On the Windows XP partition the fans become louder as the CPU temperature rises. The fans do not change speed at any point when ubuntu is running so I suspect this is the cause. + --- + AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23. + AplayDevices: + List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices + card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC262 Analog [ALC262 Analog] +Subdevices: 1/1 +Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 + Architecture: i386 + ArecordDevices: + List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices + card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC262 Analog [ALC262 Analog] +Subdevices: 1/1 +Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USERPID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC0: stuart 1390 F pulseaudio + CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory + Card0.Amixer.info: + Card hw:0 'Intel'/'HDA Intel at 0xd230 irq 46' +Mixer name : 'Realtek ALC262' +Components : 'HDA:10ec0262,104d1500,00100100 HDA:14f12c06,104d1700,0010' +Controls : 18 +Simple ctrls : 11 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=9192da4b-f4ed-429b-b9b5-cfba5065c45d + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release i386 (20101007) + MachineType: Sony Corporation VGN-C1Z_B + NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia + Package: linux (not installed) + PccardctlIdent: + Socket 0: +no product info available + PccardctlStatus: + Socket 0: +no card + ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35-22-generic root=UUID=ddc897c0-70d5-4ab7-add8-052c6e771e5e ro quiet splash + ProcEnviron: + PATH=(custom, user) + LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.35-generic 2.6.35.4 + Regression: Yes + RelatedPackageVersions: linux-firmware 1.38 + Reproducible: Yes + Tags: maverick kernel-uncat regression-release needs-upstream-testing + Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic i686 + UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare + dmi.bios.date: 09/16/2006 + dmi.bios.vendor: Phoenix Technologies LTD + dmi.bios.version: R0030J4 + dmi.board.asset.tag: N/A + dmi.board.name: VAIO + dmi.board.vendor: Sony Corporation + dmi.board.version: N/A + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: N/A + dmi.chassis.type: 10 + dmi.chassis.vendor: Sony Corporation + dmi.chassis.version: N/A + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnPhoenixTechnologiesLTD:bvrR0030J4:bd09/16/2006:svnSonyCorporation:pnVGN-C1Z_B:pvrC3LN4F1X:rvnSonyCorporation:rnVAIO:rvrN/A:cvnSonyCorporation:ct10:cvrN/A: + dmi.product.name: VGN-C1Z_B + dmi.product.version: C3LN4F1X + dmi.sys.vendor: Sony Corporation ** Attachment added: "AcpiTables.txt" https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/667641/+attachment/1715325/+files/AcpiTables.txt -- sony vaio CPU overheats https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/667641 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Everyone, I think my issue with OpenOffice.org crashing has been solved. I've been running the program for the last week, non-stop without any crashes. [Bug 668184] [NEW] Flickr publishing resolutions too limited
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: shotwell I find the resolution options for publishing to flickr too limiting. Current choices: - Medium 500 x 375 - Large 1024 x 768 - Original Size Many of my contacts have monitors 1650 or 1920 pixels wide and view the slideshows full screen, so it seems like a shame not to be able to offer a higher resolution than 1024 x 768 without uploading the full image (8 MB+ on recent SLRs). [Bug 661327] Re: User interface stutters / laggy when mouse NOT moving
Actually the tsched=0 option didn't fix it %100 for me, but it doesn't happen around every hour anymore. It's more like after 6 or so hours so it's not really a major issue. I'm guessing how problematic it is, might be different depending on the power of the system. According to: http://www.pulseaudio.org/wiki/Modules "tsched: Use system-timer based model (aka glitch-free). Defaults to 1 (enabled). If your hardware does not return accurate timing information (e.g. Creative sound cards) you can try to set tsched=0 to enable the interupt based timing which was used in 0.9.10 and before." Not sure why Xorg would be effected. Possibly they are using the same hardware timer since it's onboard and whatever pulse is doing breaks it occasionally? Otherwise maybe the CPU is being raped by Pulse Audio dealing with an out of control timer or a bug in the scheduling code, and Xorg is slowing down as a result. It doesn't report %100 of my CPU being used but it does seem to cause some kind of processor storm with heaps of ~%70 processor bursts across all cores (maybe they are %100 bursts but for a time period shorter than whatever the CPU usage sample time is). -- User interface stutters / laggy when mouse NOT moving https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/661327 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 564459] Re: USB devices not detected when hotplugged
I had this issue also. In my case, there was a glitch at some point during a fresh installation. Even though the root drive on my laptop /dev/sdaX was where / and swap were set up, the fstab file listed the / partition as mounted on /dev/sdb1. i have no idea how the system managed to boot with this incorrect configuration. the fix for me was to use "sudo blkid" to get the UUID of the / partition and then used that to correct the fstab file to mount the correct partition (/dev/sda1) to /. i discovered this when trying to mount a flash drive (which was detected) using gnome's Disk Utility from the System|Administration menu. I had an error when trying to mount the flash drive partition from there that said there was a helper failure claiming /dev/sda1 was already mounted at /. -- USB devices not detected when hotplugged https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/564459 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 660655] Re: time command doesnt recognize it's own arguments
ok... I think I figured out why it's doing this, and I'm not sure whether or not to treat this as a bug anymore. Calling 'time' explicitly (i.e. /usr/bin/time [args]) does actually work properly. For example, calling /usr/bin/time --version yields: GNU time 1.7 Apparently 'bash' has a built-in command called 'time' that serves a similar purpose, and I didn't see it my first read-through, but the man-page actually mentions this caveat: --- Users of the bash shell need to use an explicit path in order to run the external time command and not the shell builtin variant. On system where time is installed in /usr/bin, the first example would become /usr/bin/time wc /etc/hosts --- I still feel this is is an issue, but unless we could disable/override the bash builtin, i don't see how. -- time command doesnt recognize it's own arguments https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/660655 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
