[Bug 629024] Re: Clarify which kernel is updated in Grub
I agree that simply removing the old kernels from the list is the ideal solution. However, if that is not implemented, continuing to have a long list of multiple kernels on the grub menu is very confusing to casual users. Is it possible to implement something like Alexander Lancey mentioned above? Is it possible to list just the OS(s) in the grub menu, and offer a sub-menu option for multiple Ubuntu kernels? [Bug 529217] Re: Lucid Alpha 3 not installable!!!!!
It seems, that this error doesn't longer exist in the current version. But I don't wonder, since the report was filed almost two versions ago... Quality insurace must prioritize, if there are too many bug reports and it is not enough time to review and fix it. But what about the 100% CPU usage during setup since Karmic or even before? I just installed Kubuntu Maverrick these days on another AMD dualcore CPU based Notebook and switching from one step to the next took up to several minutes again. Same on an Intel quadcore CPU based desktop PC some weeks ago. Maybe, that only affects the Kubuntu installer, but that makes it almost unusable and I am considering switching from Kubuntu to another distribution, only because of that... Re: [Bug 530277] Re: 0cf2:6250 ENE Technology, Inc. card reader not supported
Hi. Thanks 4 u help. Only I got a question: u tell me about a patch, right? The patch that you tell me about it is keucr? Thanks 2010/11/19 Daniel Kingsley 530...@bugs.launchpad.net I sympathise with Walter and Hamish (being an Ubuntu novice). Fortunately my brother in law isn't and was able to talk me through the process. What I did (with his help) was: 1. Downloaded the patch. You can use the GUI to extract it. I left the extracted folder sitting in the download directory, so the path was /home/daniel/Downloads/keucr in my case (check where your browser has put it). Then open a terminal and type: 2. sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic [note: this seemed to be unnecessary as they were already there] 3. sudo apt-get install build-essential 4. Then changed directory to the path where the folder is (in my case) cd ~/Downloads/keucr [the capital letter is needed] [The tilda seems to be shorthand for /home/yourusername] 5. Then typed the following three instructions (you'll probably need to enter your password after the second one). make -C /usr/src/linux-headers-`uname -r` M=`pwd` modules sudo make -C /usr/src/linux-headers-`uname -r` M=`pwd` modules_install sudo depmod -a ___ That was it! I had to restart my machine (perhaps more than once). I thought it had had no effect and had almost given up. I then restarted my machine with the card in. Again, no effect (at least I thought) as the computer did not respond to me inserting the card , but on checking with the Disk Utility the card was visible! I was able to pull photos off the SD card. Having unmounted the card using the Disk Utility, I reinserted the card and this time the system responded with a GUI window noting that I'd inserted an SD card and asking which programme I'd like to view it with. Hope this helps the other newbies like me. -- 0cf2:6250 ENE Technology, Inc. card reader not supported https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/530277 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. [Bug 677210] Re: [MAVERICK] Thinkpad Edge 11 sound does not play though external headphones.
Well I do not think it is properly fixed. At least because the new kernel 2.6.37-6.15 does not work at all. I cannot boot, it does not get loaded, it ends up in the busybox after a too long waiting period. My system is a fully updated Natty 64-bit, Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P, AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition, XFX GTX285. All other kernels including all older 2.6.37 kernels do work OK. [Bug 678062] [NEW] rt2860sta driver fails to properly scan. connects ok as if network was hidden
Public bug reported: after the latest updates this seems to happen very frequently. right after 10.10 launched it occurred randomly and not so frequent (and turning the wifi off and on, usually resolved it. not the case any more) steps: 1. be near a visible ssid X 2. scan for ssids expected: if shows ssid X what happens: it does not list ssid X (be it on network manager or iwlist) some SSIDs will show, others will not. if you ignore that and tell to connect to it as a 'hidden' network, it connects. after it's connected, scanning will show all near ssids. moving the notebook around does not change anything. it's not a reception issue. i'm collecting more data on the access points nearby and will try to extract a pattern for which ones it detect and which it does not. Re: [Bug 530277] Re: 0cf2:6250 ENE Technology, Inc. card reader not supported
Yes. See Konstantin's link above. D On 21 November 2010 18:54, joselaurian 530...@bugs.launchpad.net wrote: Hi.
