[Bug 617885] Re: gparted crash at start: glibmm-ERROR **
Michael, thanks for the explanation. Re Comment #59 I am using that .deb under Maverick, based on your info in Comment #53 stating that Natty was equivalent to Maverick at that time. The .deb installed and worked flawlessly. Perhaps this info may also be useful to you, Seth. In any case, thanks again for the patch. WRT GParted Live CD: the .zip version works fine when booted from a USB stick. However the .ISO version reports some errors while booting from CD, on several different PCs. The MD5 matches and the CD is error-free (zero c2 errors), so I felt more confident using the USB version. Planning to report this to the GParted project when I can assemble a complete bug report. Just mentioning it here re Comment #62. Just to be technically correct Saybayon uses alsa-firmware instead of alsa-drivers. Ubuntu packages are not used in Sabayon. This problem is across all distributions of Linux. The correct Conexant drivers are in some of the folders. Alsa mixer picks these up and opens more channels but not all of them. The modem is also being driven by nVidia mcp67 and there seems to be some not tolerant reactions to minor faults in the bios dsts files. I'm hoping the updates take care of some of the faults. I speculate that the folks at nVidia don't allow typographical sloppiness in their in house code unlike the bios windows coders. There is not a failure point that causes a bug report window to pop up. I am hoping that by working the problem from source I can fix both of my distros. I always use two distros and a Data partition to keep my projects going. I have more updates to do. I run a sound editing studio in Sarasota, Fl and I am really pleased with the opportunities that Ubuntu gives me to advance my career. Stress and hard work make for great music. -- No HDMI Sound with Jaunty 9.04, Kernel 2.6.30, ALSA 1.0.20, Conexant CX20561 & nvidia MCP65 HD Audio (Geforce 8400M GS) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/389494 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 658521] Re: In Live session or installation HD not recognized
@Dave you're right, the motherboard (Asus P6X58D-E) has 2 controllers, the "Intel Matrix Storage Technology" that supports raid for sata-2 drives, (in the logs i've uploaded just a dvd drive is on those 6 ports) and a Marvell® 9128 PCIe SATA 6Gb/s controller (that has connected the 2 sata-6 western digital drives in raid-0. The BIOS has 3 options for raid in the main page (i think affects only the sata-2 drives because they're near the list of sata-2 drives, the only reference of sata-6 drives are in the boot order option) IDE, RAID and AHCI. Windows boots in all 3 modes, and ubuntu don't see drives in any mode. [Bug 665796] Re: Intel Core i7, nVidia proprietary - Timer interrupt freezes, system becomes sluggish
Same happening to me, I7 930. Happens a few minutes after I launch a video, regardless of whether I have it still open or already closed it. May last up to 5 minutes. The only thing I notice is that /var/log/messages get a psmouse.c message whenever the CPU starts spiking: Nov 22 02:58:31 ansalon kernel: [235256.800265] psmouse.c: Wheel Mouse at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 1 bytes away. However, I am guessing it is not a symptom but a consequence of the CPU spike issue. [Bug 479489] Re: disable Super+MiddleClick by default
In some cases the zoom "feature" is not reversible: if you have a non- scroll-wheel mouse, or a laptop with three mouse buttons, you can zoom in but you can't zoom out without a) realising what you've just done, and 2) finding and attaching a scroll-wheel mouse. For example, if you're using a thinkpad which has 3 mouse buttons beneath the space bar, sans external mouse, and press Super+MiddleClick, you're screwed. The -nv driver does not support this configuration and in fact was deprecated in favor of the -nouveau driver in 10.10. You would need to use the -nvidia driver. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
