[Bug 685485] Re: Click on App icon start wrong App

Clicking on an existing applications should raise it (not reopen a new
instance).

Consequently, I think your issue is rather a mismatch of raising the
right window, can you get a reproduceable use case so that we can debug
the issue, please?

[Bug 495768] Re: System crashes at high CPU load Shuttle Barebone SN78SH7 with GeForce 8200 onboard graphic

2010-12-06 Thread Russell Wing
Did you buy another Shuttle SN78SH7- therefore confirming that it was
the hardware? Or did you buy a different type of machine- and therefore
it could still be software based? I am suspicious of the integrated
NVidia 8200 drivers, and wonder whether to test with another video card
installed.

[Bug 685777] [NEW] Freezes after 15 or 20 seconds of use

2010-12-06 Thread Lonnie
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mousetrap

Mousetrap is a great idea.

After using MouseTrap for about 15 or 20 seconds, the video display
always freezes, and where ever my head was at that time, mousetrap
fights my other mouse to keep the cursor where that last frozen frame
had instructed it to.

I able to run other video capture programs like cheese without having
the video freeze, so perhaps this a bug in mousetrap.

[Bug 685714] Re: desktop has no icons

2010-12-06 Thread Fabio Marconi
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

Whatever the issue had been, I think it's been resolved.

 Bug description:
  Binary package hint: cairo-dock

I'm using Xfce on Ubuntu 9.04.

I have added folders in Cairo-dock, using the drag and drop method. When I
click on a folder, a subdock shows all files in that folder. When I open a
folder inside that folder, I expect it to open Thunar, since I'm in Xfce,
 but instead it opens Nautilus.

I don't want to remove Nautilus since I also use Gnome, and I can't find a
way to configure Cairo-dock to open folders with Thunar.

[Bug 685783] [NEW] Search folder for Unread mail displays read mail as well after application launch

2010-12-06 Thread Per Lejontand
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I have a search folder that displays unread mail. It is configured to
Include threads NONE. Find items: IF ALL CONDITIONS ARE MET. STATUS IS
NOT READ. And in a few specific folders (some imap, some local).

When I Launch Evo the contents of this folder contains some unread mail,
but also a lot of read mail, some dating back years. I have looked, but
have found no apparent pattern regarding mails included into this view.

Sometimes unread mail show up as the last email in the view and reading
it causes a new one to take its place. I.e. all unread mail is not shown
from start, and reading one will cause another to take its place.

This conditions goes away after some time, some sort of refresh is
required for it to do so (new mail arriving does not fix it). But I seem
to be able to force it correct by searching for something bogus in the
unread mail view and then switch off the search filter again.

[Bug 685129] Re: Adding Non Official application to unity do not work

2010-12-06 Thread Didier Roche
The application should ship a desktop file in XDG_DATA_DIRS/{applications} as
the xdg spec requires. I assume you didn't change your path to set /opt in it,
and so, the .destkop file isn't recognized.
You will notice that it's the same in gnome menus, you have to add it manually
there.

There is a possibility to add custom launcher using gsettings (as we
needed that for importing favorites from netbook-launcher, gnome-panel
and the desktop), I'm not sure if a gui for adding custom launchers is
something wanted by design, let's ask :)

[Bug 683609] Re: icons in music source and music folder dropdown are different size

2010-12-06 Thread Jensen Somers
I attached a patch to the original Gnome bug report yesterday which uses
the Gtk.Icon.SizeLookup () function to determine the actual size of the
theme icons (see
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=175841action=edit),
because 16 is not a guaranteed size for all themes and all icon sets.
The folder list is a default Gtk folder browser control, so there's no
work to be done on that one.

But it was pointed out in the original bug report that the reason it's
so large and bold is most likely done to have it stand out a bit. If
that's the case I agree with Andreas that it should be converted into a
sidebar. That looks to be more consistent with other applications and
similar screens.

Unfortunately that requires more work than I have time for right now, so
feel free to take a look at that, but make sure you notify people via
the original Gnome bug report so the Banshee developers are aware that
someone is working on the issue.

2010-12-06 Thread Daniel Richard G.
Okay, an update:

I'm still running Maverick, with current packages from xorg-
edgers/radeon (mesa @ git20101130), and the 2.6.37-020637rc3-generic
mainline kernel. Many improvements:

* The drmRadeonCmdBuffer: -22 error is history, thanks to Alex
Deucher: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25544

* I'm not getting GPU lockups anymore!

* I still get the X server crash if I try to switch desktops while a GL
app is running in (Ubuntu) GNOME. I was ultimately somewhat able to get
a core dump, and send in bug #671293, but the use of PPA packages didn't
play well with the Apport tracing service.

* Still seeing the wonky text, but this only shows up in the (Ubuntu)
GNOME environment. My normal desktop is Xfce, and it's now running on
Maverick with all the latest stuff, and I don't see anything like it
there. Maybe it's a GNOME/Compiz thing?

[Bug 685790] [NEW] some program spewing Command Invalid command. to ~/.xsession-errors

2010-12-06 Thread Delan Azabani
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure what program is doing this, but it's quite alarming. Today,
after using my computer for an hour or so, a message box informed me
that the root filesystem had only 1.1GiB free space left. This is on a
60GB SSD that has everything except ~/Downloads, which is on a 1TB hard
drive. Using baobab to inspect the directories, I had found that my
~/.xsession-errors stdout had ballooned to a whopping 40.8GB. This can
obviously happen quickly with fast SSD write speeds. Taking a peek with
gedit showed most of it was the line

Command Invalid command.

repeated again and again. Promptly, my computer hung from the lack of
memory to open the file.

[Bug 685789] [NEW] Flash: One applet crashes pulls all of them down

2010-12-06 Thread Rallias Ubernerd
Public bug reported:

Whenever using Flash to run flash-based applets, if I manage to break
one applet, say by closing the tab it is in, all the instances of Flash
crash, no matter where in the world it is. It doesn't matter where in
the world the viewing computer is. If I have Youtube open on one
computer that is X-over-SSH tunneling to one machine in a firefox
instance, then if it crashes, it also pulls down an instance of say
Pandora on another computer running Chromium via X-over-SSH tunneling to
the same machine. It is the Shockwave Flash installation, because the
GNASH installation isn't picked up by Firefox.

Shockwave Flash Version: 10.1r102
Architecture: amd64
Ubuntu Version: 10.10 Desktop

How to repeat:
1. Open Pandora in an instance of Chromium
2. Minimize Chromium.
3. Open Youtube in Firefox
4. Cause Firefox to crash with favorite method (I like the infinitesimal right

[Bug 685672] Re: Problem with random number generator.

2010-12-06 Thread Robert Roth
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 335278] Re: increase mail storage capacity

2010-12-06 Thread Teej
This bug report is being closed since the problem has not been reported
upstream by you or linked to an upstream bug. I can only assume that
this problem wasn't prevalent enough to warrant another report to the
upstream tracker. If this *does* continue to be a problem, please report
it upstream to Mozilla where it can be fixed or looked at more easily.
Thank you for reporting this to us and please continue to do so and help
to make Ubuntu better.

[Bug 685801] [NEW] Serial console not working on Ubuntu 10.10

2010-12-06 Thread Gaurav Aggarwal
Public bug reported:

I am trying to setup a serial console between two ubuntu machines.
Basically, I am trying to follow the below mentioned article for the
same, but with no luck so far.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SerialConsoleHowto

I am pretty sure that my server side configurations are done properly
since I am getting the login prompt when using windows machine
(hyperterminal) as client to connect any of these machines. But, when I
am trying to connect to the same machine from another Ubuntu machine
(via minicom) as the client, I am not getting the login prompt on the
serial console.

Since setup is working fine with the windows (hyperterminal). On looking
further, I found that similar settings are working fine with the Cent
OS, so this rules out any minicom related setting issue also. So, I
guess, there is a bug in the Ubuntu distribution.

[Bug 685473] Re: Multiple screenshots in software description

2010-12-06 Thread Chauncellor
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: software-center

One unique screenshot isn't always sufficient to describe an
application. Make a little screenshots gallery could be a interesting
addition for several applications (games for instance).
+
+ This feature would be particularly useful with for-pay software as it is
+ usually more comforting to see multiple aspects of what it is you are
+ spending money on.

[Bug 685358] Re: Automatically remember running applications when logging out in Startup Applications doesn't deactivates unticking it

2010-12-06 Thread Fabio Marconi
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you
are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are
having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if
you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#When%20not%20to%20file%20a%20bug.
There is also a vibrant support community available at

[Bug 685804] [NEW] ncplogin crashing with error failed:ncplogin: Inappropriate ioctl for device attempt to open mount point
