[Bug 689325] Re: Empty screen with wallpaper&cursor without Unity interface and any Gnome panels

Seems with all the indicator applications that you can't upgrade that
probably your system isn't aligned for the rebuild.

Please ensure you have latest unity, latest libnux and latest gnome-

[Bug 689529] [NEW] Unable to enable wireless, "More" button disappears (Kubuntu natty)

2010-12-12 Thread Wladimir Mutel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: plasma-widget-networkmanagement

I have a netbook Acer 1830T with wired Ethernet driver atl1c and wireless
brcm80211 (BCM 43225)
Drivers and firmware are loaded well (as seen in dmesg) and interfaces eth0 and
wlan0 are visible in ifconfig -a
I log into KDE with locale uk_UA.UTF-8
I left-click on Plasma item for network management, and 2-column menu (or
plasmoid) appears.
Initially it has [ ] 'enable wireless' turned off (down on the left), and the
button '+ More' down on the right.
When I try to enable wireless by mouse click, check mark appears there but goes
back off after short time.
Also, '+ More' button disappears. On next clicks in 'enable wireless', button
'+ More' appears for a short time, then goes back away, together with check
mark.

Please advise what should I check on my system to know more details. Or when
this strange behaviour will be fixed .
Thank you.

[Bug 289023] Re: Wheel emulation doesn't work after suspend/resume

2010-12-12 Thread Helge
This bug is still present in Lucid.
Reloading the psmouse module doesn't fix the scrolling problem.
I have created the manual configuration file referred to by enoksrd #7 (and
restarted X), which works, but that doesn't justify the fact that settings made
in gpointing-device-settings sometimes stop working after suspend/resume.

I don't know how gponting-device-settings does it's magic, but
apparently it isn't working 100% of the time.

Humanity packaging dint change during the update, it might be the problem with
the downloaded package.
There seem to be quite a few bugs like this when download doesnt go right,
maybe update manager needs to add checksum before it fails to install.
If the md5sum doesnt match it should try to re-download the package.

start-stop-daemon --start --quiet --nicelevel $run_nice --chuid Debian-exim

[Bug 689230] Re: Transmission crashes, impossible to kill

2010-12-12 Thread Elias Alberto
I'm not sure how relevant this info is, but the torrent I'm trying to
download has 4 files, from which the largest one is a 4.4gb mkv file. I
have had downloads from 13mb to 630mb being downloaded without problem,
but haven't tried anything bigger yet. The only tracker available is
tracker.openbittorrent.com:80, from which I have already downloaded
stuff without problem. I have been able to pause this torrent as soon as
I start the program, and then added another torrent, which connected and
downloaded normally. I'd say it may be something with the filesize or
with that specific .torrent file.

[Bug 613438] Re: pgp-signing fails with "wrong password" warning without ever prompting for a password

2010-12-12 Thread Kai Blin
I've switched email clients months ago, so I'm not really affected by
this anymore. I'm certainly not interested enough to risk a well-running
10.04 LTS system just to see if a mail client I don't use is still
broken. Feel free to close this bug if bugs that only exist on 10.04 are
not desired in this bug tracker anymore.

[Bug 689519] [NEW] window placement is wrong for apps with fullscreen option

2010-12-12 Thread Doug McMahon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

Any app that has a fullscreen option is currently handled poorly in
unity 3.2.6

Rather than trying to describe - a simple example
Open a video in totem and center totem on screen. Go to fullscreen and then
back to window mode.
Totem will be returned to far upper left corner with top 20% or so 'missing'
instead of returning to orig screen position.

While not that likely in use, if the process is repeated several times then
totem will disappear altogether from the screen - maybe 4 cycles
All apps having a fullscreen option show this, all are returned to top left
corner, the amount of 'offset' does vary.

[Bug 675862] Re: Top panel isn't multimonitor aware

2010-12-12 Thread kyleabaker
Spanning across both monitors actually works great for me and I wouldn't
want to see my second monitor lose this panel. If its going to be moved
to one by default, could there be a preference to span both/all as well?

Ideally, it seems to me that the panel should take on the task of
displaying menu systems for each monitor for a consistent feel across
both if it is enabled to span across more than just the primary monitor.
This would also allow for consistency among maximized windows in
secondary monitors. Otherwise, windows in a secondary monitor would just
behave differently than those in the primary window when maximized
without a panel above them since they won't merge with a top panel in
the same way.

[Bug 688816] Re: Don't create windows over the panel

2010-12-12 Thread Jason Smith
setting the struts is not the proper solution here. There is nothing in
terms of freedesktop wm spec that covers something like the intellihide
case. Struts effect both maximized windows and placement. We wish only
to restrain initial placement. We should be proposing something along
the lines of "soft struts". The launcher would set a soft strut that
would encourage initial window placement outside of the strut, but not
be a strict enforcement as in the panel case.

[Bug 689511] [NEW] indicator applet messages plugin/nautilus bug

2010-12-12 Thread dennyg...@gmail.com
Public bug reported:

Since i don't need and don't use most of the indicator applet, i decided
to remove the chat and mail plugins from the indicator applet. upon
reboot i am prompted to enter a password. if i comply, i get a desktop
that isn't mine, i think it's root's desktop.

If i do not comply, i get no desktop at all.

I have absolutely no use for evolution, gwibber or empathy, so i don't
need them or the indicator applet plugins that go along with them.

Please help me with this.

(P.S. I did make a concerted effort to find this bug, but i could not,
if it is a copy of a posted bug, please point me in the right

[Bug 591365] Re: Squid3.0 provides no option for re-enabling a cache peer

2010-12-12 Thread Maxime Ritter
I don't think it's a missing feature in the Ubuntu package. If you would
like the "connect-fail-limit=" option to become available in the Ubuntu
Squid package, you will just need to wait for the Squid 3.2 release (for
the moment, still in beta).

That said, there might a bug, which is that squid doesn't see when a
cache peer marked as DOWN becomes available again. Because that's what
it's supposed to do, and in my experience, did correctly everytime I
used it (ubuntu and non-ubuntu systems. But I didn't try with ubuntu
10.04 package). No need for an additionnal option.

Have you tried "/etc/init.d/squid3 restart" ? This should be working. If
not, check that the cache peer is really working.

[Bug 689505] [NEW] Banshe crashes on startup with 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'

2010-12-12 Thread David Grossberg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: banshee

When I try to start Banshee the window appears for a split second and
then vanishes, leaving the following terminal output:

$ banshee --sync
[Info 21:03:40.546] Running Banshee 1.8.0: [Ubuntu 10.10 (linux-gnu, x86_64) @
2010-11-26 14:10:54 UTC]
[Info 21:03:42.174] Updating web proxy from GConf
[Info 21:03:42.252] All services are started 1.336868
The program 'Banshee' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 1578 error_code 8 request_code 2 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

I tried using kdbg to get the backtrace mentioned and gave up due to
complications with Mono.

ProblemType: Bug

Package: banshee 1.8.0-2ubuntu1~maverick2

[Bug 689500] [NEW] wwwoffle + ht://dig : cronjob doesn't have permissions to write its log

2010-12-12 Thread Maxime Ritter
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wwwoffle

On Ubuntu 10.10 : I tried to install both wwwoffle and ht://dig. Nearly
perfect integration of both packages... except... the cronjob never
worked. Why ? Let's try to run it manually.

r...@rakia:/etc/cron.daily# su proxy -s /bin/sh -c
/usr/share/wwwoffle/search/htdig/wwwoffle-htdig-incr
/usr/share/wwwoffle/search/htdig/wwwoffle-htdig-incr: 19: cannot create
/var/log/wwwoffle-htdig.log: Permission denied

It can write its log, it doesn't have permission to write/create the
file. Ok, let's fix it :

r...@rakia:/etc/cron.daily# touch /var/log/wwwoffle-htdig.log
r...@rakia:/etc/cron.daily# chown proxy /var/log/wwwoffle-htdig.log

r...@rakia:/etc/cron.daily# su proxy -s /bin/sh -c
/usr/share/wwwoffle/search/htdig/wwwoffle-htdig-incr

Oh, it's perfectly running now. The ubuntu package script should also
create an empty log file with the correct permission.

[Bug 506829] Re: "in progress" activities not working in hamster applet on AMD64

2010-12-12 Thread Leo Arias
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.

I tried to reproduce this error but I couldn't, in progress activities
work ok for me. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time
you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of
the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test a current,
supported, Ubuntu version. If you can test it, and it is still an issue,
we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-
collect 506829, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular
issue.

Known issue, it is because the unity plugin does not disconnect some
signals and these cause sigc to freak out when the unity plugin gets
re-inited.

[Bug 496989] Re: Changing date interval in save report dialog does not affect report

2010-12-12 Thread Leo Arias
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.

I tried to reproduce this error but I couldn't. I made a report starting
on october and ending on november. There have been many changes in
Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have
been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could
test a current, supported, Ubuntu version. If you can test it, and it is
still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by
running apport-collect 496989, and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.
