Public bug reported: Binary package hint: plasma-widget-networkmanagement I have a netbook Acer 1830T with wired Ethernet driver atl1c and wireless brcm80211 (BCM 43225) Drivers and firmware are loaded well (as seen in dmesg) and interfaces eth0 and wlan0 are visible in ifconfig -a I log into KDE with locale uk_UA.UTF-8 I left-click on Plasma item for network management, and 2-column menu (or plasmoid) appears. Initially it has [ ] 'enable wireless' turned off (down on the left), and the button '+ More' down on the right. When I try to enable wireless by mouse click, check mark appears there but goes back off after short time. Also, '+ More' button disappears. On next clicks in 'enable wireless', button '+ More' appears for a short time, then goes back away, together with check mark. Please advise what should I check on my system to know more details. [Bug 689519] [NEW] window placement is wrong for apps with fullscreen option
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity Any app that has a fullscreen option is currently handled poorly in unity 3.2.6 Rather than trying to describe - a simple example Open a video in totem and center totem on screen. Go to fullscreen and then back to window mode. Totem will be returned to far upper left corner with top 20% or so 'missing' instead of returning to orig screen position. While not that likely in use, if the process is repeated several times then totem will disappear altogether from the screen - maybe 4 cycles All apps having a fullscreen option show this, all are returned to top left corner, the amount of 'offset' does vary. [Bug 675862] Re: Top panel isn't multimonitor aware
Spanning across both monitors actually works great for me and I wouldn't want to see my second monitor lose this panel. If its going to be moved to one by default, could there be a preference to span both/all as well? Ideally, it seems to me that the panel should take on the task of displaying menu systems for each monitor for a consistent feel across both if it is enabled to span across more than just the primary monitor. This would also allow for consistency among maximized windows in secondary monitors. Otherwise, windows in a secondary monitor would just behave differently than those in the primary window when maximized without a panel above them since they won't merge with a top panel in the same way. [Bug 688816] Re: Don't create windows over the panel
setting the struts is not the proper solution here. There is nothing in terms of freedesktop wm spec that covers something like the intellihide case. Struts effect both maximized windows and placement. We wish only to restrain initial placement. We should be proposing something along the lines of "soft struts". [Bug 591365] Re: Squid3.0 provides no option for re-enabling a cache peer
I don't think it's a missing feature in the Ubuntu package. If you would like the "connect-fail-limit=" option to become available in the Ubuntu Squid package, you will just need to wait for the Squid 3.2 release (for the moment, still in beta). That said, there might a bug, which is that squid doesn't see when a cache peer marked as DOWN becomes available again. Because that's what it's supposed to do, and in my experience, did correctly everytime I used it (ubuntu and non-ubuntu systems. But I didn't try with ubuntu 10.04 package). [Bug 689505] [NEW] Banshe crashes on startup with 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: banshee When I try to start Banshee the window appears for a split second and then vanishes, leaving the following terminal output: $ banshee --sync [Info 21:03:40.546] Running Banshee 1.8.0: [Ubuntu 10.10 (linux-gnu, x86_64) @ 2010-11-26 14:10:54 UTC] [Info 21:03:42.174] Updating web proxy from GConf [Info 21:03:42.252] All services are started 1.336868 The program 'Banshee' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'. (Details: serial 1578 error_code 8 request_code 2 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) I tried using kdbg to get the backtrace mentioned and gave up due to complications with Mono. Why ? Let's try to run it manually. r...@rakia:/etc/cron.daily# su proxy -s /bin/sh -c /usr/share/wwwoffle/search/htdig/wwwoffle-htdig-incr /usr/share/wwwoffle/search/htdig/wwwoffle-htdig-incr: 19: cannot create /var/log/wwwoffle-htdig.log: Permission denied It can write its log, it doesn't have permission to write/create the file. Ok, let's fix it : r...@rakia:/etc/cron.daily# touch /var/log/wwwoffle-htdig.log r...@rakia:/etc/cron.daily# chown proxy /var/log/wwwoffle-htdig.log r...@rakia:/etc/cron.daily# su proxy -s /bin/sh -c /usr/share/wwwoffle/search/htdig/wwwoffle-htdig-incr Oh, it's perfectly running now. The ubuntu package script should also create an empty log file with the correct permission. ** Affects: wwwoffle (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/689500 Title: wwwoffle + ht://dig : cronjob doesn't have permissions to write its log -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 506829] Re: "in progress" activities not working in hamster applet on AMD64
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. I tried to reproduce this error but I couldn't, in progress activities work ok for me. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test a current, supported, Ubuntu version. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport- collect 506829, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. ** Changed in: hamster-applet (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/506829 Title: "in progress" activities not working in hamster applet on AMD64 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
