[Bug 655932] Re: Chromium crashes on identi.ca

I seem to have this issue with websites that make use of the Geolocation
feature in Chromium. The three websites I have seen this crash occur
with are identi.ca, Google Latitude and http://www.mozilla.com/en-
US/firefox/geolocation/.

Have you allowed Geolocation on identi.ca?

Please sync librapi2 0.15-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:

Now debian package has libsynce0-dev as a depend and it uses ubuntu

[Bug 183456] Re: Trying to load a sf2 file with asfxload returns "sfxload: no memory left"

2011-01-06 Thread Daniel Richard G.
Thomas, thank you for your clear description of the issue.

Given that the problem is memory beyond the 2GB barrier, something I
wanted to try was mmap()'s MAP_32BIT flag. You can sort-of do a malloc()
by making an anonymous mapping, and so I hacked up safe_malloc() and
safe_free() (in awelib/malloc.c) accordingly. My patch against the
awesfx-0.5.1a source (current Ubuntu version) is attached.

The addresses returned are consistently 0x4[0-9a-f]{7}, yet I continue
seeing the "no memory left" error. Do you think there is something in
this approach that may allow a solution that doesn't require kernel
modification, or are we still at the mercy of the kernel's memory
allocation policy?

All applications set a window property which contains pixel data about their
application icon, so that window managers and task switchers can display
that icon where it is appropriate.

Unfortunately it seems like g-s is using the desktop file to get the big icon
and not using _NET_WM_ICON (or updating their applications for big icons).

This behavior is non standards compliant.

I'm sorry, but I'm not a hacker, neither am I knowledgeable about X and
GTK. Could you please explain what that means for and end user?

Also, I run GNOME Shell that is packaged for Maverick, and the icons in
its task switcher are of similar size to that of Compiz task switcher
icons, and yet they don't have this problem. Please see enclosed

BTW can't this _NET_WM_ICON property be set in Ubuntu? Would that mean

2011-01-06 Thread fejes
Saw the same thing this evening. when apt-gets spat out errors about
linux-generic being only half configured. Ended up running:

sudo dpkg -C
sudo dpkg --configure linux-image-2.6.37-12-generic
sudo dpkg --configure linux-image-generic
sudo dpkg --configure linux-generic

but saw the same error during the configure of linux-
image-2.6.37-12-generic.

so the versions page has a note about why we are running the older

[Bug 541492] Re: MASTER: [i845] GPU lockup (apport-crash) (Should KMS be blacklisted?)

2011-01-06 Thread Brian Rogers
I've made a kernel with the latest fix available in this PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~brian-rogers/+archive/graphics-fixes-testing

If it gets good feedback, I'll copy it to my regular graphics-fixes PPA.

This kernel is based on Natty's 2.6.37 kernel, has the changes in drm-
intel-next applied, and the patch at
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27187#c291 is added. I've
produced builds for Lucid, Maverick, and Natty. It has a cache coherency
checker, so you'll see periodic messages in dmesg reporting on the
number of flushes and whether any problems are detected.

>From Daniel Vetter's patch description:

Feedback about the patch can be sent directly to the upstream bug report at
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27187

If you have issues relating to installing/booting this kernel, report
them here.

[Bug 697306] Re: Update manager displays incorrect last update information

2011-01-06 Thread RedSingularity
I know. I want to see if the commands update the proper file that will
display on the update-manager. The update-manager reads the "last
update" dates from a totally different file on the system. To be exact,
update-manager checks for the last update time via the file:

/var/lib/apt/periodic/update-success-stamp

2011-01-06 Thread Jeroen T. Vermeulen
Oh well. I just deleted all the Ubuntu One tokens (which were all for
my other machine) and restarted the U1 prefs. This time it gave me a
Connect option! Very briefly it said it was synchronizing, and then it
went back to Disconnected without the option to connect.

I'll attach logs.

[Bug 696361] Re: Ubuntu sso fails with 'An HTTP non-2xx response code was received'

2011-01-06 Thread Jeroen T. Vermeulen
There was only one entry in the machines list; I have no idea how to see
whether it's "unused" or not or which machine it is, so I just deleted
it.

The tokens list has about a dozen tokens from my other machine, all for
the same date (I guess those were login attempts I tried from there
after upgrading to Maverick) plus 5 tokens for Canonical's Mumble
service, which so far I've only used from the machine I'm currently on.
How do I verify that they are up to date, and which ones should I
delete?

[Bug 437907] Re: Update-notifier-common not purged

2011-01-06 Thread Kees Cook
Additionally, since the conffiles are really scripts, they need to be
able to run when the package is removed but not purged (i.e. they should
check for the scripts they're trying to run). Better yet, scripts should
not be conffiles.

2011-01-06 Thread RedSingularity
It seems like the system has been through a few "bad" updates therefore
the file may have bad information. It would have been great if the
original user had filed a report after the first bad update. Don't
worry about attaching the information in this case. And since you have
cleared the problem up I will close this bug. Thanks again for taking
the time to report and please feel free to do so again in the future.

[Bug 445141] Re: Podcasts don't download if the files are all the same filename.

2011-01-06 Thread Alexei Colin
@Luca: I'm no authority on this but your situation looks strange. The
filename you are seeing is constructed as a result of the patch that was
submitted to fix the bug. However, for you podcast it shouldn't fall
back to the "escaped uri" filename because gvfs-info reports that
stardard::edit-name is set, which means edit-name should be taken as the
filename (since copy-name is not set). I would look at the debug output
when downloading any of those podcasts: run "rhythmbox -d".

Sidenote re my comment #19: it seems people do care about filenames. But
handling podcasts with episodes with identical copy-name's (and/or edit-
name's) still needs to be resolved. Perhaps a new bug needs to be
submitted?

[Bug 653480] Re: broken dependencies

2011-01-06 Thread Leo Jackson
IMHO,

The reason for this broken dependences. Is that oauth is under 2
different version numbers. One calls it python-oauth 1.0.1 and another
calls it python-oauth 1.0a. In control it calls for 1.0.1 this can be
built if we use what natty calls 1.0 in control file. And just change to
the branch I add to here. Try it out.

The options are:

1) Wait for the new spread stuff to land where we'll use bamf for hi-res icons
2) Make window->getIcon wrappable, create a plugin to use bamf to get
the hi-res icon
3) Ask GNOME nicely to make their _NET_WM_ICON a bit bigger :)

[Bug 695249] Re: ASUS G73JW fails to suspend or hibernate: "pm_op(): usb_dev_suspend+0x0/0x20 returns -2"

2011-01-06 Thread Stephen Warren
I've found the complete solution!

It's at http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1444822.html, in
John Dias's April 27th, 2010, 02:16 AM comment. Just in case that goes
away, and in the hope of bumping the information in Google's ranking
(that link is on something like page 6 of my Google search results),
I'll reproduce the information here:

===
The problem is about the ehci builtin controller and xhci module.

The better solutions is to disable all devices that uses ehci_hcd from
Kernel, and to unload module xhci, before suspend/hibernate. For the
last, you can use the nuage6's solution, but I prefer to use the
"config.d", as I describe in section 2. Another solution is to complete
disable usb support in BIOS, but I guess you don't need to do this.

1. Unbind ehci_hcd from kernel:

First, verify what devices you need to unload from kernel. Simple list
the directory "/sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/" and pick all devices id
that has names like ":00:1a.0". You may have more than one device
listed.

# ls /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/
:00:1a.0 bind new_id uevent
:00:1d.0 module remove_id unbind

I picked ":00:1a.0" and ":00:1d.0".

Because newer version of Ubuntu came with ehci_hcd builtin kernel, you
have to unbind all devices. For this, create a file "/etc/pm/sleep.d
/20_custom-ehci_hcd", with the following content:

#!/bin/sh
# File: "/etc/pm/sleep.d/20_custom-ehci_hcd".
case "${1}" in
hibernate|suspend)
# Unbind ehci_hcd for first device :XX:XX.X:
echo -n ":XX:XX.X" | tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/unbind
# Unbind ehci_hcd for second device :XX:XX.X:
echo -n ":XX:XX.X" | tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/unbind
;;
resume|thaw)
# Bind ehci_hcd for first device :XX:XX.X:
echo -n ":XX:XX.X" | tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/bind
# Bind ehci_hcd for second device :XX:XX.X:
echo -n ":XX:XX.X" | tee /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd/bind
;;
esac

Obs.: For this work for you, you have to substitue ":XX:XX.X" with
your settings.

2. Unload modelue xhci (usb3):

Create a file "/etc/pm/config.d/usb3-suspend-workaround", with the
following content:

#File: "/etc/pm/config.d/usb3-suspend-workaround".
SUSPEND_MODULES="xhci"
===

NOTE: In file usb3-suspend-workaround, I used "xhci_hcd" not "xhci",
since that seems to be the correct module name in Ubuntu Maverick
(10.10)

NOTE: When testing, use the Gnome suspend/hibernate menu options; don't
just run "sudo pm-suspend", since the latter appears not to run all the
suspend scripts given in the instructions above.

NOTE: ":XX:XX.X" are ":00:1a.0" and ":00:1d.0" on my HW
(Asus G73JW)

Question: Is it possible for Ubuntu to include those quirks in the
distribution somehow, based on the machine ID it's running on?

[Bug 283115] Re: gimp 2.6: toolbox windows can't be minimized

2011-01-06 Thread André Pirard
This bug is NOT a duplicate of bug #288461.
Bug #288461 says that GIMP images are below GIMP dialogs when GIMP is used.
Bug #283115 says that when GIMP is not in use, its dialogs clutter the screen
because they can't be minimized.
