Upstream hasn't had a stable release in over 2 yrs and this has been
removed from Debian.  I filed Bug #712927 to remove this from Ubuntu as
well.  There is a development release that's pretty recent, but the
prerelease before that was almost 2.5 yrs prior.  Someone would need to
step forward to take care of this package (updates and bug fixes) in
Ubuntu (or Debian again) for it to remain.

Hi Serge,

Yes I confirm it did fail. I am using the "Virtual Machine Manager" and
when I enable the network it gives me the message I posted earlier.

When I sun it at the command line, (after updating my libvirt deb today
from your ppa) I get:

In both cases, it does not look like just a warning to me, as the network does 
not start.

On August 12 last year the problem with suspend/resume still existed in the LTS 
as reported earlier. I was forced to leave the LTS(!) and I am now working with 
Maverick and testing Natty. The issue is not present in those releases. I have 
not used Lucid since then.

While not precisely the same crash, deb #596155 and fdo #28882 bugs are
all faulting on the same bit of code.  create_bits_picture() attempts to
instantiate an image via a call to pixman_image_create_bits(), however
that call can fail under a variety of circumstances and return a NULL
image pointer.  This is then passed unchecked to
pixman_image_set_has_client_clip() where it is dereferenced and
generates a seg fault as a result.

Bug 711799 exposed this behaviour of mount. It does a number of stupid things:
1. It does not notice that the file system is exclusively open
2. It does not notice that the file system is marked unclean

Furthermore, mount shows it lack of intelligence by trying to mount it,
1. despite of the facts above
2. not timing out when it doesn't succeed
3. ignoring all signals trying to make mount exit gracefully

At least it seems, that mount checks solely if the file system is in
/proc/mounts, and if it isn't, it goes through irrespective of anything
else; if need be hanging itself.

(I filed the bug on amd64, though the behaviour was noticed on 32-bit.
It remains to be seen if the source code is identical.)

- not installed on the (live CD) system
- not installable (no candidates) on the system

I had the same bug with the logout dialog also... Could someone provide
a .xsession-errors from a session that didn't restart/shutdown correctly
(if you relogged in after, it will be in .xsession-errors.old instead)?
If you can see some errors such as "error 104 (connection reset)", I
think Xorg is crashing on shutdown (this bug only appeared with the
recent X upload).

Make that better to "if Ubuntu is using e2fsprogs 1.41.12, Ubuntu really
should upgrade...". And since it is a bug affecting all 10.10 (at
least), it needs to enter the official upgrade path, urgently. What I
used was the installer-CD, but the system in question was pretty much
updated (actually, crashed during the regular 'apt-get upgrade' from
which it could never recover on its own). The current version offered by
the repositories is 1.41.12-1ubuntu2, and I have no clue which actual
release this reflects. (Does it make sense to file a RFE to make the
upstream version visible in apt-get?)
