[Bug 718127] Re: CVE-2010-2951 and CVE-2010-3072 still exists in Lucid and CVE-2010-2951 still exists in maverick

2011-02-15 Thread Amos Jeffries
2010-2951 is not relevant to the Lucid package (3.0 series) which does
not attempt DNS over IPv6.

2010-3072 correct patch for Lucid package version as referenced by the
upstream advisory can be found at http://www.squid-
cache.org/Versions/v3/3.0/changesets/squid-3.0-9189.patch

Also,
Please consider 3.1.10 package (now in Natty) for back-porting as a whole to
Maverick. There are a great deal of related stability fixes over 3.1.6 which
the user base require to prevent indirect problems even if the direct attack
vulnerability is fixed.

[Bug 719569] Re: follow_x_forwarded_for unrecognized option

2011-02-15 Thread Amos Jeffries
The upstream bug is closed against 3.1 (Target Milestone), since the
directive does not exist in 3.0 but was added in 3.1. The 3.0 packaging
attempting to use the configure option has no affect.

The package reference in the changelog is for Debian bug number and
shows that when Debian upgraded their package to 3.1 series the bug was
closed.

Ubuntu Lucid which ships with a 3.0 series package has this problem.
Maverick and later which ship with 3.1 series accept the directive.

[Bug 719835] Crash report cannot be processed

2011-02-15 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate an useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

libegl1-mesa-dbg: installed version 7.10-1ubuntu2, latest version: 7.10-1ubuntu3
libgl1-mesa-glx-dbg: installed version 7.10-1ubuntu2, latest version:
7.10-1ubuntu3
libc6-dbg: installed version 2.12.1-0ubuntu15, latest version: 2.12.1-0ubuntu16

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Bug 719838] [NEW] evince crashes while display LaTeX 'microtype' package documentation

2011-02-15 Thread Nathaniel Smith
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

To reproduce:

1) Download the documentation for the LaTeX package 'microtype':
http://mirrors.med.harvard.edu/ctan/macros/latex/contrib/microtype/microtype.pdf
  (also attached)

2) Open it in evince

3) Scroll to page 4

Result: evince segfaults.

Okular and xpdf both display it fine, though there's some 'clever' code
on that page that appears to be displaying different things depending on
whether the viewer claims PDF 1.5 support. So their ability to display
the document may just reflect their being more pessimistic about their
own abilities. But it is a real document, that I'd really like to read,
and that has legitimate reason to be using these funny features, so it
would be nice if evince would stop segfaulting.

Yes, please do if you have them around. This one doesn't give us much
to go on; the error codes in the gpu dump are all 0x. For the
most part all the error messages in dmesg are generic "the gpu locked
up" type stuff; the one bit that stands out as unusual is:

[ 5486.401830] [drm:init_ring_common] *ERROR* render ring initialization
  failed ctl head tail start

however even that looks a bit generic.

You said you recently upgraded to natty, was that the same day you
experienced this error? Was there any chance you had upgraded but not
yet rebooted?

Also, in the days since your report have you seen any other freezes?

[Bug 529794] Re: network-manager 0.8 fails to connect on boot with Huawei E172 3G USB modem

2011-02-15 Thread Martin Pitt
Phil, it was already requested twice to attach the information from
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingNetworkManager. There is really nothing
that a developer can do about this bug without debugging information.
Developers don't have all the hardware in the world, and it works fine
for other devices.

[Bug 711225] Re: subprocess.Popen() crashed with TypeError in _cleanup(): an integer is required

2011-02-15 Thread Martin Pitt
Ah, so you can reproduce it? This is a complete mystery to me, so can
you download attached file into /tmp/, and then run these commands in a
Terminal (please copy & paste to keep them exactly like that:)

  sudo killall jockey-backend

  sudo PYTHONPATH=/tmp/ /usr/share/jockey/jockey-backend --debug 2>&1 |
tee /tmp/log

Then start Jockey from the menu as usual, and repeat the steps that lead
to the crash. At some point, the jockey-backend program in the terminal
should then crash with the TypeError. Once that happens, please attach
/tmp/log here.

Thanks!

[Bug 716739] Re: [i965gm] GPU lockup cd4b7311

2011-02-15 Thread Bryce Harrington
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

This happened on a system I recently upgraded to Natty, the first time I
tried to play a DVD movie with VLC. I never even saw VLC open. My
monitor went into power save mode, but I was able to login via ssh from
another computer and reboot it. After rebooting, I was able to play the
same movie without a problem (so far).

There were three crash reports left behind:

  3.1M xserver-xorg-video-intel.2011-02-10_22:11:58.243858.crash
  2.7M xserver-xorg-video-intel.2011-02-10_22:12:01.910476.crash
  4.3M xserver-xorg-video-intel.2011-02-10_22:12:04.543832.crash

I am reporting only the first of the three here. Let me know if the
  others would be of use.

Martin, I suppose my own testing doesn't count, but... this evening I
put lucid-proposed on my wife's laptop (the only one in the household
not already upgraded to natty *grin*) and verified it added the "Indian
with Rupee" keyboard layout.

[Bug 719833] [NEW] ssh upstart job fails to actually bring up ssh

2011-02-15 Thread Kees Cook
Public bug reported:

When I reboot my router, ssh does not start.

Feb 15 22:51:32 router init: ssh main process (897) terminated with status 255
Feb 15 22:51:32 router init: ssh main process ended, respawning
Feb 15 22:51:32 router init: ssh main process (915) terminated with status 255
Feb 15 22:51:32 router init: ssh respawning too fast, stopped

I do not bind to 0.0.0.0, so I must have networking up fully before ssh
can start. Because "filesystem" happens before "networking" has
started, the job fails. We might want to consider changing the upstart
job to:

start on filesystem and started networking

We won't roll back the nvidia driver in the final release. Alberto, is
there something we use to do about these regressions, like report them
upstream? There's not much we can do about them anyway.

Please unassign yourself again after your answer. Thanks!

[Bug 719831] [NEW] Strange artifacts related to the xorg's intel driver

2011-02-15 Thread chreko
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Here the details:

1.) Some areas in the GUIs of my wine applications appear as black
areas. This bug has been reported here
(https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30157) and here
(http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24430) and appear to be related
to Xorg's Intel driver (2.12).

2.) The pull-down menus of the main panel or any window's menu fail to
appear after a first click. It usually needs a second click to show up.

I have a notebook with integrated Intel core GPU and a discrete ATI
Radeon GPU (HD 5600 series). The two issues mentioned above only
occurred while using the integrated Intel core GPU.

That would mean that you wouldn't have a chance, ever, to try the
upstream installer.

You can remove jockey just as well. But anyway, I don't mind much
moving it there, it'd just fit a bit better in nvidia-common, and if
people uninstall stuff, then they should know what they are doing..
:-)

Thanks, Martin

You need to cat all gdm log files at once, and then pick them apart
yourself (or just store them in one key).

I have to think about how to run multiple programs and store their
individual outputs in one go. I have an idea, but it will take some
more effort to implement. I hope I can get to that in the next week,
though.

[Bug 719826] [NEW] pc will not boot after update to linux 2.6.38

2011-02-15 Thread Joe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I am running Ubuntu 10.10, linux 2.6.37-12 and tonight(2/15/2011) I
updated via Update Manager. This update contained the packages to
introduce a new linux image 2.6.38. Upon completing the update, I was
asked to restart to complete the installation. I restarted. I received a
message "mountall: disconnected from Plymouth" and was presented a login
prompt. I rebooted, and the same problem occurred. I went to a backup of
my syste, from 2/4/2011, restored my system, and then redi all the
updates. When I rebooted, the same problem occurred. I restored from
backup again, but did not include the seven software packages related to
the new kernel. The update was successful. I was able to boot since I
was still on 2.6.37-12. When I had the trouble booting into 2.6.38, I
tried re-installing all the plymouth packages to no avail. It would seem
that I am missing a package in this update.

Re: [Bug 673307] Re: libdbi / libdbd-sqlite3 returns incorrect values for several data types

2011-02-15 Thread SatPhil
I can confirm this fixes the bug.

I upgraded from libdbi0_0.8.3-0ubuntu1 to libdbi0_0.8.3-0ubuntu1.1 on Ubuntu
10.10 i386 and the "make check" script now returns the expected values (i.e.
non-zero doubles). Moreover, Gnucash 2.4.2 which now looks the error and
had been exiting with a pop-up error message now continues to run and
displays non-zero values for its numbers. Thanks to all for your assistance
in sorting this problem out.

[Bug 677739] Re: Can't login to MSN using non hotmail domain

2011-02-15 Thread requeth
I found someone on ubuntu forums that has a workaround for this issue,
it worked for me. I removed telepathy-butterfly via synaptic, reloaded
empathy, and removed and re-added my MSN account. Issue resolved. I'm
not sure what telepathy-butterfly does, but I only use empathy for basic
chatting and that's working fine for me.
