[Bug 725911] Re: Logitech wireless mouse recognition variable
Hi, Thanks for the detailed instructions. I think it's very unlikely that it's the mouse that's at fault. I never experienced this issue in Maverick but the very day I installed the alpha 1 version of Natty the recognition of the mouse became on and off. After a few weeks' using Alpha 1 my wife started getting shirty with me over all the bugs, so I re-installed Maverick. I had no problems at all for the three of four weeks that I was using Maverick again. Then I installed alpha 2 of Natty and after the very first reboot the mouse wasn't seen. What's strange is the erratic nature of the bug (assuming it is a bug of course). This morning, for example, the mouse was recognized on first boot (whereas usually a reboot is necessary when I first turn on the computer). I rebooted and it was still recognized. Then I shut down and booted from cold - the mouse wasn't recognized any more. I've run dmesg as you say, and I include it all here in case there's anything I've missed, but I don't find the Logitech wireless mouse. I find the PS/2 port and I find a USB mouse which presumably is the Labtec one that I have plugged in port in case the wireless one isn't recognized. When I've finished this post I'll keep rebooting the computer until the mouse is seen again and run dmesg again. Anyway, here's the dmesg output for this boot: [0.548046] system 00:01: [io 0x1400-0x147f] has been reserved [0.548048] system 00:01: [io 0x1480-0x14ff] has been reserved [0.548051] system 00:01: [io 0x1800-0x187f] has been reserved [0.548054] system 00:01: [io 0x1880-0x18ff] has been reserved [0.548056] system 00:01: [io 0x2000-0x207f] has been reserved [0.548062] system 00:01: [io 0x2080-0x20ff] has been reserved [0.548065] system 00:01: [mem 0xfec8-0xfecb] has been reserved [0.548068] system 00:01: [mem 0xfefe-0xfefe01ff] has been reserved [0.548071] system 00:01: [mem 0xfefe1000-0xfefe10ff] has been reserved [0.548075] system 00:01: Plug and Play ACPI device, IDs PNP0c02 (active) [0.548122] pnp 00:02: [io 0x0010-0x001f] [0.548124] pnp 00:02: [io 0x0022-0x003f] [0.548126] pnp 00:02: [io 0x0044-0x005f] [0.548128] pnp 00:02: [io 0x0062-0x0063] [0.548130] pnp 00:02: [io 0x0065-0x006f] [0.548132] pnp 00:02: [io 0x0074-0x007f] [0.548134] pnp 00:02: [io 0x0091-0x0093] [0.548136] pnp 00:02: [io 0x00a2-0x00bf] [0.548138] pnp 00:02: [io 0x00e0-0x00ef] [0.548140] pnp 00:02: [io 0x04d0-0x04d1] [0.548142] pnp 00:02: [io 0x0800-0x087f] [0.548144] pnp 00:02: [io 0x0290-0x0297] [0.548150] pnp 00:02: disabling [io 0x0010-0x001f] because it overlaps :00:01.0 BAR 2 [io 0x-0x00ff] [0.548153] pnp 00:02: disabling [io 0x0022-0x003f] because it overlaps :00:01.0 BAR 2 [io 0x-0x00ff] [0.548157] pnp 00:02: disabling [io 0x0044-0x005f] because it overlaps :00:01.0 BAR 2 [io 0x-0x00ff] [0.548161] pnp 00:02: disabling [io 0x0062-0x0063] because it overlaps :00:01.0 BAR 2 [io 0x-0x00ff] [0.548164] pnp 00:02: disabling [io 0x0065-0x006f] because it overlaps :00:01.0 BAR 2 [io 0x-0x00ff] [0.548168] pnp 00:02: disabling [io 0x0074-0x007f] because it overlaps :00:01.0 BAR 2 [io 0x-0x00ff] [0.548171] pnp 00:02: disabling [io 0x0091-0x0093] because it overlaps :00:01.0 BAR 2 [io 0x-0x00ff] [0.548175] pnp 00:02: disabling [io 0x00a2-0x00bf] because it overlaps :00:01.0 BAR 2 [io 0x-0x00ff] [0.548178] pnp 00:02: disabling [io 0x00e0-0x00ef] because it overlaps :00:01.0 BAR 2 [io 0x-0x00ff] [0.548231] system 00:02: [io 0x04d0-0x04d1] has been reserved [0.548234] system 00:02: [io 0x0800-0x087f] has been reserved [0.548237] system 00:02: [io 0x0290-0x0297] has been reserved [0.548240] system 00:02: Plug and Play ACPI device, IDs PNP0c02 (active) [0.548251] pnp 00:03: [dma 4] [0.548253] pnp 00:03: [io 0x-0x000f] [0.548255] pnp 00:03: [io 0x0080-0x0090] [0.548257] pnp 00:03: [io 0x0094-0x009f] [0.548259] pnp 00:03: [io 0x00c0-0x00df] [0.548288] pnp 00:03: Plug and Play ACPI device, IDs PNP0200 (active) [0.548339] pnp 00:04: [irq 0 disabled] [0.548356] pnp 00:04: [irq 8] [0.548358] pnp 00:04: [mem 0xfeff-0xfeff03ff] [0.548386] pnp 00:04: Plug and Play ACPI device, IDs PNP0103 (active) [0.548413] pnp 00:05: [io 0x0070-0x0073] [0.548440] pnp 00:05: Plug and Play ACPI device, IDs PNP0b00 (active) [0.548447] pnp 00:06: [io 0x0061] [0.548477] pnp 00:06: Plug and Play ACPI device, IDs PNP0800 (active) [0.548485] pnp 00:07: [io 0x00f0-0x00ff] [0.548493] pnp 00:07: [irq 13] [0.548520] pnp 00:07: Plug and Play ACPI device, IDs PNP0c04 (active) [0.548745] pnp 00:08: [io 0x0060] [0.548747] pnp 00:08: [io 0x0064] [0.548755] pnp 00:08: [irq 1] [0.548785] pnp 00:08: Plug and Play ACPI device, IDs PNP0303 PNP030b (active)

[Bug 711534] Re: euca-upload-bundle fails when connecting to Eucalyptus and a path in bucket is specified
The command specified in the bug report doesn't work with AWS S3 unless the user has actually created the bucket somehow. I just tested this. For instance, if you use the option "-b mybucket/abcd/efgh" S3 will correctly interpret this request (PUT to mybucket/abcd/efgh) as an empty put to the bucket "mybucket" with the keyname "abcd/efgh." Which is correct behavior. The user must have already have a bucket, "mybucket." Otherwise the key "abcd/efgh" cannot be created because the bucket does not exist. Before the key can be created, the bucket needs to be created with a PUT to "mybucket" "/"s are not allowed in the bucket name. The "/" is interpreted as part of the key. The bucket must exist for that key to be created. So the bug report is partly right and partly wrong. The real bug is that Walrus should be returning a 404 and not a 400 when someone tries to access "mybucket/abcd/efgh" if the bucket does not exist. The command will not work on S3 or against Walrus if the bucket (the part of the string before the first "/") was never created, but the right error to send back is a 404 (no such bucket) and not a 400 (bad request). This is fixed in revno 1257 in lp:eucalyptus. If this were a support forum I'd agree, but the usage pattern for a bug tracker is different, and actually general practice is to keep bug reports as fine grained as possible. Especially with hardware problems like KVM switches it's not uncommon to need a separate fix for each specific type of device. In this sort of situation, it's really helpful to have each person's problem as a separate bug report, so as we generate or locate patches we can keep track of which KVMs still need attention and which are solved. Also, bug trackers tend to make it really cheap and easy to dupe multiple bug reports, whereas splitting one bug report out into several isn't possible. So even in the case where everyone's KVM scroll lock issue was identical, it's not hard for us developers to quickly verify this, and then easily mark them as dupes. Then, if later on we find we've made a mistake we can undupe bugs on a case by case basis and carry on. Anyway, I'm belaboring the point. But trust me, it really does help to have separate bug reports for each person and each particular piece of hardware. :-) > Moreover "scroll lock doesn't work in ubuntu" on a search engine is > likely to land here, leaving this issue open helps collecting everyone's > experience in one place. Actually, if the bug is closed, the search engine will still be able to link to it, so that's not a problem. But I think what you are wanting in this case would be best served as a discussion thread on a technical support forum such as askubuntu.com or the ubuntu forums, which I think would be a really good idea. Meanwhile, in the bug tracker we really should just focus development efforts towards *fixing* the bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/59417 Title: Scroll lock does not work in X -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 727610] [NEW] multiple errors USB, graphics, skype, control bar...
Public bug reported: error 1: USB won't work properly. first drive won't show, but second will. need first to see second flash drive. works in reverse order also. error 2:graphics wont work. need to go into fail-safe mode to reconfigure graphics for nvidia geforce 7000m graphics card, before boot, or the screen will flicker as the computer attempts to use the card with what i assume are bad settings. error 3:skype does not use the camera/mic properly all the time, it will work one or the other or both or neither, requires multiple restart to function correctly. this is true for both 10.10 and 12.04. error 4: the control bar at the top of the screen with stop working on occasion, it will disappear and i will need to restart by cutting power to my laptop. ---low priority--- I dislike that the control bar is at the top, and that the programs settings and buttons are located in the control bar. as an optional update i feel that others may agree, as in problem 4 i cant exit all programs and others are harder to exit from. also when i upgraded i lost apps that were in the control bar and have not been able to put them back as i can not accses these settings and still have yet to figure out how. [Bug 619981] Re: mono apps crash on omap4 due to no smp support for armel
This has been fixed in git for mono 2.10 with implementation of OP_MEMORY_BLOCK in the ARM JIT. With this patch, most of the mono test suite passes with only two regressions, but due to issues with the Ubuntu toolchain, mono upstream is requesting that we test against Debian sid to disprove the Ubuntu toolchain as the source of these regressions. Since Ubuntu is shipping 2.6, as are all the support libraries, there is no sane way to test banshee against this version of mono to determine if the regression has been truly passed, but the massive improvement on test suite results is encouraging. Currently, the in-archive mono is still affected by https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gcc-4.5/+bug/721531 - I have not been able to isolate the workaround committed to our version of mono. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/619981 Title: mono apps crash on omap4 due to no smp support for armel -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
