Yes, that could explain it. Anyway, since the package works for you
now, I'm closing this bug report.

[Bug 735283] [NEW] compiz 64bit - maximizing.

2011-03-14 Thread Henry Charles Barfield
Public bug reported:

I am using 10.04 64bit.

running 32bit live cd does not present the problem:
there is a momentary hang when maximizing windows
i also describe this bug in Bug #588982

entering the CLI text found here for disabling compiz causes problem to go away:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=588497
/usr/bin/metacity --replace &

assuming problem is only in 64bit, and maximizing is the only one i have
found a problem with.

looking for more permanent method of disabling.

[Bug 735244] Re: package portmap 6.0.0-2ubuntu5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2011-03-14 Thread Alex Kras
Running your command:
# dpkg --configure -a
Setting up portmap (6.0.0-2ubuntu5) ...
There are RPC services which were registered with the portmapper
before the configuration was changed.
You need to manually restart them in order for the changes to take effect.
Current registered services:

1000241 udp 59244 status
1000241 tcp 32898 status
1000211 udp 34084 nlockmgr
1000213 udp 34084 nlockmgr
1000214 udp 34084 nlockmgr
1000211 tcp 54754 nlockmgr
1000213 tcp 54754 nlockmgr
1000214 tcp 54754 nlockmgr

Restarting portmap:
#/etc/init.d/portmap restart
Rather than invoking init scripts through /etc/init.d, use the service(8)
utility, e.g. service portmap restart

Since the script you are attempting to invoke has been converted to an
Upstart job, you may also use the restart(8) utility, e.g. restart portmap
restart: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type="method_call",
sender=":1.56" (uid=1000 pid=3662 comm="restart portmap ")
interface="com.ubuntu.Upstart0_6.Job" member="Restart" error name="(unset)"
requested_reply=0 destination="com.ubuntu.Upstart" (uid=0 pid=1
comm="/sbin/init"))

Seems like it's ok. One note I was restart my PC after that problem was
happend. May be this is why it's ok now?

[Bug 735008] Re: Missplaced Ubuntu dash logo line

2011-03-14 Thread Vish
Nice catch Paul!

I think the problem here is that, _Unity_ draws that line (using a
pixmap? or is that cairo drawing a fixed-color line?)

If we let the themes draw the line as a GtkSeparator, we wouldnt be having
this issue.
Maybe as a widget_class GtkSeparatorUnityPanel ?

Ok, so portmap is running and upstart knows about it. If you try to
configure the portmap package again (by running, e.g., 'dpkg --configure
-a'), does it succeed?

[Bug 661546] Re: Slow graphics on Mobile Intel 943GML

2011-03-14 Thread Grant Likely
I'm running into the same issue on Natty. This is on a MacBook 2,1 with
an external monitor. Intel 945GM chipset. It appears to be related to
the framebuffer size. The laptop panel works fine alone, as does an
external monitor at 1920x1080 alone.

However, if I enable both displays at full resolution, then I get the
"Failed to set tiling on frontbuffer" error message in Xorg.0.log, and
compositing is *very slow*. If I reduce the resolution on both
monitors, then I can get it working correctly again.

Here's an error log from the failed case:

Yes, upstream switch from gtk to qt.

Yes, according to my understanding, hgtk will no longer be developed.
natty will still have hgtk though, the switch to the qt version will
happen with ubuntu 11.11.

I actually do not want to rename the package. What about just having
hgtk to be a script that warns the user about the switch and then call thg?

I cannot answer this question.
Note that I am speaking about the tortoisehg package in Debian which
will be merged in ubuntu 11.11. Such package for version 2 does not
exist yet.

You are using a package from a PPA.

Thank you for your comments and suggestions!

debdiff attatched.

The resulting package openbox-3.4.11.2-0ubuntu2 should be in my PPA soon

[Bug 453747] Re: Wrong folder size on folder in smb shares

2011-03-14 Thread kolya
Hi

This is probably not nautilus bug. This looks like libsmb bug. Libsmb generates
same inode numbers for different files which makes nautilus (gvfs) treat them
as hardlinks and count their size only once.
I've submitted bugreport with patch to samba bugzilla:
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8010 .

Thanks.
Nikolay.

[Bug 259219] Re: Broken TLS support in libGL.so AKA: software-center crashed with SIGSEGV in __cxa_allocate_exception()

2011-03-14 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package mesa - 7.10.1-0ubuntu2

---
mesa (7.10.1-0ubuntu2) natty; urgency=low

  * The “stop SIGSEGVing unrelated code” upload.
  * debian/patches/113_partially_fix_tls.diff:
- Fix TLS usage: initial-exec is not appropriate for a library that
can be dynamically loaded with dlopen. (LP: #259219)
- Partial patch: missing IA32 assembler dispatch code.
  * debian/rules:
- Build without optimised assembler on i386, as we haven't fixed that
  yet. Opens LP #735188.

[Bug 614696] Re: openbox-dev contains incorrect symlinks making it's totally broken

2011-03-14 Thread Jonathan Marsden
A similar issue occurs in the current Natty 11.04 package, opendev
3.4.11.2-0ubuntu1

This time the link is to libobrender.so.21.0.8 when the real file is
libobrender.so.21.0.9

The relevant packaging files are debian/openbox-dev.links and
debian/libob*.install

A fix to make them by in sync seems trivial; a fix to automatically
ensure they *stay* in sync will be more work, but would be better, if it
can reasonable be done. Investigating...

[Bug 424648] Re: "Error: ssh program unexpectedly exited" when trying to browse files on router

2011-03-14 Thread Mario Rugiero
Did you (users suffering this problem) checked that you are actually
connected to the computer you try to use SSH with? In my case, I forgot
to switch to the other wifi router to connect, and that's what is
killing the program. Maybe that is the "bug".

My case is not bug (or at least, the action which triggers it is to not
be connected to the same router with both computers, the other one is
connected to another router and is the routers which are connected each
other, anyway, the bug is triggered when using in a useless way XD).
F*ck my memory.

[Bug 683957] Re: guest ata controller becomes unresponsive

2011-03-14 Thread Steven Wagner
It in fact did not fix the problem. The problem was that writeback cache is off
by default in Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS, but the default was on in Ubuntu Server
8.04 LTS. It was a backwards incompatible change that was not documented, and
it took months of my time to resolve. The solution was to specify,

on all of my guest config files.

Kubuntu Natty alpha 3 completely up-to-date as of this post. This

[Bug 734116] Re: Following an upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 the old GRUB configuration was lost

2011-03-14 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. We'd be grateful if you
would provide a more complete description of the problem.

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!
