[Bug 22070] Re: Logitech Quickcam Messenger is not usable

2011-03-15 Thread Lee Jones
In which case, download the *.deb

  sudo aptitude download linux-image-2.6.35-27-generic

Extract it

  dpkg -x linux-image-2.6.35-27-generic /tmp

And copy the modules you need from the extracted deb

  cp /tmp/lib/modules/blar to /lib/modules/blar

You can see if they updated correctly using modinfo

  modinfo gspca_stv06xx

[Bug 387308] Re: HTTPS Proxy Support for file sync

2011-03-15 Thread Richard Klein
How this is not of high importance baffles me.

This breaks U1 for everyone at our university. We're behind an
authenticating squid proxy... For a program that ships with Ubuntu by
default to not work behind a proxy is unbelievable.

As for SabreWolfy's post, I'd expect this issue Has a severe impact on
a s̶m̶a̶l̶l̶ large portion of Ubuntu users (estimated)

[Bug 726142] Re: Wacom tablet mouse does not work properly when monitor set to vertical resolution

2011-03-15 Thread Susan Cragin
Yes, setting the stylus and eraser to setting 1 made the touchscreen
work correctly when the tablet view was set to left rotation.

xinput list
xinput list-props Serial Wacom Tablet stylus
xinput set-int-prop Serial Wacom Tablet stylus Wacom Rotation 8 1
xinput list-props Serial Wacom Tablet eraser
xinput set-int-prop Serial Wacom Tablet stylus Wacom Rotation 8 1

Anything I did not re-set manually did not work,
Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4[slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPadid=11 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Serial Wacom Tablet eraserid=13 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Serial Wacom Tablet stylusid=14 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint

In addition (as I am sure you know) the tablet settings were changed, so
that when I set my monitor back to normal view, I had to manually re-
set the xinput back to 0.

So, I should test for the other rotations? Right and Upside Down

2011-03-15 Thread Fabio Marconi
Thank you for taking the time to make Ubuntu better. Since what you
submitted is not really a bug, or a problem, but rather an idea to
improve Ubuntu, you are invited to post your idea in Ubuntu Brainstorm
at http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/ where it can be discussed, voted by the
community and reviewed by developers. Thanks for taking the time to
share your opinion!

[Bug 735081] Re: Sync scribus-ng 1.4.0.dfsg~rc2-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2011-03-15 Thread Martin Pitt
Note that we currently have 1.3.3.13.dfsg~svn20081228-2ubuntu4 in natty,
not 1.4.0.dfsg~rc1-1. So there are probably more changes than this, and
it might also need a merge instead of a sync? Or can the remaining
Ubuntu delta be dropped?

Please set back to New once this is resolved.

[Bug 636693] Re: Premature lock when launching guest session

2011-03-15 Thread Martin Pitt
For the record, I would also prefer that the indicator not locking the
screen by itself. The documented interface to launching a guest session
including screen locking is to simply call /usr/share/gdm/guest-session
/guest-session-launch.

But oh well, seems we agree to disagree, so the Opinion status seems
appropriate.

[Bug 735445] [NEW] clock doesn't update on timezone change

2011-03-15 Thread Kalman Reti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-datetime

I booted the natty 3/12/2011 daily build amd64 desktop image, which
starts up in GMT. I used the Time Date Settings... entry of the
clock's menu to change to EDT. The time in the dialog for that setting
promptly changed, but the time in the clock didn't, i.e. it is still
display 12:00 PM when it is really 8:00 AM (as the date command in a
terminal window demonstrates).

[Bug 735452] [NEW] IOMonitor Plugin does not use optimal /proc parameter to find process PID

2011-03-15 Thread heckheck
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: powernap

I have been looking at the forthcoming changes to powernap in natty and
noticed something I think can be a significant enhancement for the
IOMonitor Plugin.

The IOManager Plugin currently uses a regex search of '/proc/%s/cmdline'
to find the process name pattern for a process it will be monitoring.
Many processes that may be of interest to monitor with the IOManager do
not have a command line. For example, NFS daemons processes, which
would be very useful to monitor don't have a cmdline with the process
name.

I suggest that instead the IOManager perform its regex search to find
PIDs on the Name: field that is at the start of the /proc/PID/status
record to search for process names. This would allow many more
interesting processes to be monitored.

This would require a relatively simple modification to the Python
script. Normally I'd code and test this myself before submitting the
bug report, but I thought I'd report quickly in case there is any chance
such a change can make it into Natty.

It's possible laso that you have to install propretary hardware drivers.

[Bug 733536] Re: Add XInput 2.1 support to xinput utility

adds support for new attributes, but doesn't change existing behaviour,

Just installed Amarok 2.4 from lucid-backports, and afaict the single

Now all tracks belonging to the same album are listed together. Also in
the playlist there is an additional column giving the track artist if it
is not the same for all.

[Bug 732860] Re: Please upgrade exuberant-ctags to 5.9 SVN snapshot

2011-03-15 Thread Martin Pitt
Do you know if upstream plans to do an official 5.9 release in time for
natty? If we can, we should rather ship an official release than a
snapshot?

[Bug 732848] Re: Feature request: add unread items count in the Unity Launcher entry

2011-03-15 Thread Martin Pitt
I reviewed the diff, it's small enough. Also, this isn't a dependency
for other features/packages, so it's easy to back out if it causes
trouble. Approved.

[Bug 732759] Re: [FFe] [needs-packaging] python-ethtool

2011-03-15 Thread Martin Pitt
Seems fine, approved. (Note that I didn't review the packaging, that'll
be done as part of NEW).

[Bug 727814] Re: [Maverick] Reboot of linux-virtual hangs on EC2

2011-03-15 Thread Brandon Black
Anyone have a userland workaround (other than ec2-reboot-instances of own
instance-id, which requires auth keys on the node...) for getting an ec2 node
on these kernels to reboot itself successfully?

Also: note that once we have a release kernel w/ the fix, new Maverick
AMIs will have to go out before the problem is really solved (or else
you can't really reboot to the fixed kernel from a fresh image after
update).

[Bug 705112] Re: the menubar with appmenu-gtk is 1px tall

2011-03-15 Thread Andrea Cimitan
the only thing I would do is trying to make the coding style a little
bit more consistent with the rest of gtk+, like the order of
variables/g_return_if_fail. aparto from that, I trust you if you tested
it and it seems to work. did you test it globally and in all your
previous testcases? if so, seb, could you add this in the next gtk+? I
need that for some theming changes. many thanks santtu for your precious
work

[Bug 656745] Re: notebook always crashes if on battery (dell vostro 3700 and others)

2011-03-15 Thread Colin King
@Miroslav, thanks for the update. I hope to be getting access to one of
these laptops in the near future to debug this a bit deeper.

[Bug 570949] Re: the screen is blanked even if totem is playing a video

2011-03-15 Thread Kevin Hunter
Erm, I'm new to this aspect.

1. Is it still building? That link doesn't seem to work for me.
2. Do I need to be running Natty? I'm currently running Maverick.
