[Bug 751770] Re: cupsd crashed with SIGSEGV in dbus_connection_get_is_connected()

2011-04-18 Thread Martin Pitt
Potentially fixed with the upload below. Can you test this version and
see if it still happens? Thanks!

cups (1.4.6-5) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Till Kamppeter ]
  * debian/patches/cups-avahi.dpatch: Updated the patch to add Avahi support
to the newest state of the art from
http://twaugh.fedorapeople.org/cups-avahi/ (upstream of the patch),
in the hope to fix CUPS crashers like LP #759031, #754567, #711875,
#751770.

  [ Martin Pitt ]
  * debian/local/apparmor-profile: Add cap_dac_read_search for cups-pdf. This
circumvents the sandboxing even more, but with cups-pdf's architecture
there is no way around it. (LP: #295536)

Could you please reboot to ensure the aptdaemon is running and run
update-manager and update some packages to see if that triggers the bug
again.

[Bug 295536] Re: cups-pdf fails bad status reported and no pdf created

2011-04-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package cups - 1.4.6-5

---
cups (1.4.6-5) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Till Kamppeter ]
  * debian/patches/cups-avahi.dpatch: Updated the patch to add Avahi support
to the newest state of the art from
http://twaugh.fedorapeople.org/cups-avahi/ (upstream of the patch),
in the hope to fix CUPS crashers like LP #759031, #754567, #711875,
#751770.

  [ Martin Pitt ]
  * debian/local/apparmor-profile: Add cap_dac_read_search for cups-pdf. This
circumvents the sandboxing even more, but with cups-pdf's architecture
there is no way around it. (LP: #295536)

[Bug 761171] Re: Natty Narwhal No Sound

2011-04-18 Thread David Henningsson
Ok, I saw another thing in your alsa-info, it seems like the speaker pin
is not powered up:

Node 0x1f [Pin Complex] wcaps 0x400501: Stereo
  Pincap 0x0010: OUT
Pin Default 0x90170110: [Fixed] Speaker at Int N/A
Conn = Analog, Color = Unknown
DefAssociation = 0x1, Sequence = 0x0
Misc = NO_PRESENCE
  Pin-ctls: 0x40: OUT
  Power states: D0 D1 D2 D3 D3cold
  Power: setting=D3, actual=D3
  Connection: 2
 0x10* 0x11

Could you please try the following: download and install snd-hda-tools from
ppa:diwic/ppa (this is for natty). Then run this terminal command:
sudo hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x1f SET_POWER_STATE 0

And see if that helps to get sound out of internal speakers (you mean
*internal* speakers, right?).

[Bug 764265] Re: [natty] DNS server is not picked up on dhcp

2011-04-18 Thread LGB [Gábor Lénárt]
Hmm, by checking /var/log/daemon.log file, I see lines like:

Apr 17 15:28:35 oxygene NetworkManager[1076] get unmanaged
devices count: 0
Apr 17 15:28:35 oxygene NetworkManager[1076]: Error parsing file
'/etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf': No such file or directory
Apr 17 15:28:35 oxygene NetworkManager[1076]: Error parsing file
'/etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf': No such file or directory

The interesting part that those files really does not exist (only as
.dpkg-old and such) but another upgraded machine (to natty) have exactly
the same log messages, just it's not affected (I think) since it's not
DHCP based system, but "hard wired" IP settings (at least I think that
can be the reason). But btw, on that machine I _have_ file
/etc/resolvconf/run/interface/NetworkManager with the wanted content. So
maybe I am wrong with this guess ...

[Bug 765551] [NEW] kaffeine does not depend on libxine1-xvdr which you need to watch DVB-T

2011-04-18 Thread Bazon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kaffeine

On a fresh Kaffeine install, trying to watch digital TV (DVB-T) results only in
the error-message:
Cannot find demux plugin for MRL
"fifo:/home/username/.kde/share/apps/kaffeine/dvbpipe.m2t"

This can be solved by installing libxine1-xvdr, but there is no easy way
for users to find out.

So I suppose Kaffeine should depend on libxine1-xvdr so it gets
installed automatically with the packet-manager.

[Bug 764265] Re: [natty] DNS server is not picked up on dhcp

2011-04-18 Thread LGB [Gábor Lénárt]
Hmm, I have no file named /etc/resolvconf/run/interface/NetworkManager ...
(the directory
/etc/resolvconf/run/interface exists though). /etc/resolv.conf is a symlink to
file /etc/resolvconf/run/resolv.conf and that file only contains the comment
lines, but not even a single "nameserver" line. Another interesting thing: it
seems seldom it works correctly, other times it does not ... I try to find a
case when it works and I check out the contents of these files.

[Bug 765545] [NEW] nfs mounts in fstab are mounted before network is up

2011-04-18 Thread bwalex
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mountall

I have the following two lines in fstab:
nasi.local:/secure/alex /home/alex/secure nfs
defaults,rw,exec,user,nobootwait0 0
nasi.local:/data/home/alex/data nfs
defaults,rw,exec,user,nobootwait0 0

On every boot I get prompted with the famous "S or M" prompt to manually mount
or skip the mounting. The shares themselves ARE always available. Skipping
doesn't work for other reasons (see [1]), nobootwait doesn't work for even
other reasons ([2]). The only way to get the system to boot is to manually fix
the issue by pressing "M" and then starting dhclient manually:
# dhclient -v eth1
After that the boot can continue by simply exiting the emergency shell. This is
clearly an issue with nfs mounts being tried before setting up the network, or
at least running dynamic network configuration (i.e. DHCP).

Also note that this happens reliably on every boot, so a race is
unlikely. I also don't have /var as a separate mountpoint.

Just for completeness sake, my complete fstab:

[Bug 765539] [NEW] : global name 'trans' is not defined

2011-04-18 Thread antonfh
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: aptdaemon

allows you to install/remove software and to perform other package
management related tasks.

[Bug 764933] Re: HP network printer is not automatically detected in Ubuntu 11.04 natty (regression)

2011-04-18 Thread typo
It's ufw! After I entered "sudo ufw disable", I tried "hp-probe -bnet
-mmdns" and then it worked. When I enter "sudo ufw enable" it won't work
again. I also tried system-config-printer again and without ufw it
works.

You should add a new exception rule to ufw so that it works like before.

[Bug 652916] Re: ubiquity-dm crashed with ValueError in command(): invalid literal for int() with base 10: ''

2011-04-18 Thread Charles Comstock
I just used today's posted nightly build of 11.04 and encountered this
error. My bug submission was marked as a duplicate, but if this is
marked as the fix has been committed, is there some further vetting of
that commit before it makes it to the nightly? Just want to make sure
everyone is aware it's still an issue, and that if the commit was in the
nightly, it did not fix it. That, or my bug submission was incorrectly
marked as duplicate.

2011-04-18 Thread Cesium
Public bug reported:

power failure rebooted computer while performing an upgrade. Booting
failed. (That's a bug; upgrading software shouldn't leave the computer
in a state where a reboot will fail.) Built a live cd on another
computer. Booted from the live cd and did the upgrade plus dist-
upgrade. Upgrades mostly worked except they claimed they couldn't find
/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-30... I rebooted from the hard disk drive, which
now worked. I logged in and used the Upgrade Manager to check for
upgrades. Later I noticed this crash report was available for sending
