[Bug 769362] [NEW] add Download stats to published files
Public bug reported: I use UbuntuOne to publish some electronic books. It works now very well and is quite convenient. One thing is missing with the "Publish" function. [Bug 751018] Re: i386 installer CDs are named improperly
Howdy, OK, I'll take your advice. I am not trying to cause trouble. I just wanted it to be clear. I know when Maverick came out, I was one of those who missed the reference in the release notes and I messed up one of my servers and had to rebuild it. The name i386 in the architecture seems pretty obviously to mean that it supports 386 or higher cpus. But, there are more important things to focus on. The text in the Maverick note seems fine. It did not look like something that would carry over to Natty. As long as it does, it is good enough for me. Intel does not call it EM64T anymore. They use the name Intel 64 for the feature. It does not seem like a good name to me, since it might confuse some people who had Intel 64 bit machines with the older 64 bit architecture. But, it is the right name, so I propose it be used. And there are lots of computers out there that are not 686 processors or higher with cmov support. So, I changed almost all to most computers. I say this because of how many embedded devices there are out there with geode or via processors. Lots of thin clients and firewalls can't run newer versions of Ubuntu. I am not criticizing here. The compiler optimizations were probably worth the move, but it did drop a lot of older computers out as candidates for Ubuntu. For the text at http://releases.ubuntu.com/natty/, here is my proposal. PC (Intel x86) desktop CD For most PCs. This includes most machines with Intel/AMD/etc type processors with 686 cpus or higher with cmov support. This would be most computers that run Microsoft Windows, as well as newer Apple Macintosh systems based on Intel processors. Choose this if you are at all unsure. 64-bit PC (AMD64) desktop CD Choose this to take full advantage of computers based on the AMD64 or Intel 64 architecture (e.g., Athlon64, Opteron, EM64T Xeon, Core 2). If you have a non-64-bit processor made by AMD, or an Intel CPU with IA-64(their older 64 bit technology) support or if you need full support for 32-bit code, use the Intel x86 images instead. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/751018 Title: i386 installer CDs are named improperly -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 408165] Re: Linksys By Cisco WUSB600N v2 Doesn't Work
Same user from #98 I wiped my computer and installed Ubuntu 9.10 amd64. Driver dated 2009_1214 compiled and worked. Did the distribution upgrade to 10.04 and recompiled and it worked. Upgraded to 10.10 and tried to recompiled but it did not work. Connected directly and upgraded to 11.04 and still the driver failed to compile. I have read that the drivers won't compile on a 64 bit system but i've compiled up to the last two upgrades. Also compiled in Mint 10 x64 and worked. I have also noticed that it will work with one kernel version, then an kernel upgrade will break it, then another kernel upgrade will fix it. It would be great to get this added out of the box. Any input is appreciated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/408165 Title: Linksys By Cisco WUSB600N v2 Doesn't Work -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 482419] Re: 802.3ad interface bonding fails if started too early
I can confirm that this bug still occurs. Although I've been using this configuration for ~6 months, it bit me today. This is on a box running Ubuntu server, with two bonded interfaces. [Bug 758687] Re: External disk icon keeps pulsating after nautilus has already launched
How to reproduce: 1. Do a cold start or reboot, and start unity. 2. Click nautilus/home icon to start nautilus. 3. Mount the disk within nautilus and a disk icon appears in the launcher. 4. Click the new icon in the launcher, nautilus is launched but the launcher doesn't recognize that and the icon just keeps pulsating, i can close all other instances of nautilus prior to clicking the icon and it makes no difference. This only happens for devices which don't have a icon in the launcher at startup and have to be mounted through nautilus. [Bug 769353] [NEW] Icon for Trash should be 2D, not 3D
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity When the launcher moves to accordion mode, icons that don't fit are deformed to make it appear that they have rotated backwards around their lower edge. The deformation is a simple skew, which works as long as the icon is perceived to be a planar object parallel to the screen. However, the trash icon is a 3D wastebasket. Were it to rotate back, we would expect a different view. Instead, the skew deforms the basket into a roll of duct tape (see image). The easiest solution would be to use a more cartoonish 2D image of a wastebasket, This is seen on Natty beta 2. ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/769353 Title: Icon for Trash should be 2D, not 3D -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 193848] Re: dput stalling forever during upload without returning error
This could be unrelated: I upload using the dput and the sftp mechanism and dput gets stuck in the "terminate" function of /usr/lib/python2.6 /dist-packages/bzrlib/transport/ssh.py waiting for ssh to finish (which doesn't happen). I just commented out this: _close_ssh_proc(proc) in the specified file and my problem went away without side effects (no ssh processes left behind). Looking at dotted_names = ['stdin.close', 'stdout.close', 'wait'], I assume stdin and stdout don't actually close. gdb says my processes is already in "wait". Pressing Control+C without the modification mentioned above says it's ignored in function "terminate" and then proceeds to tell me the upload was successful and pretend the lockup never happened. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/193848 Title: dput stalling forever during upload without returning error -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 743011] Re: Windows that reparent away from the root before they are mapped can cause other windows to become invisible (and compiz to crash)
I run gnome, 11.04, beta2, "Ubuntu Classic", and typing "gitk" from a git repo causes the screen to flash, and then flicker back but messed up, and the system is frozen. I've installed all updates before trying this. I've noticed that if I manually change Tk/wish to 8.5, running gitk no longer crashes. However, returning it back to the default, and running gitk will cause the crash. I just got a notification that this bug was expired. [Bug 769346] [NEW] Some Packages Refuse to Install
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: software-center I tried to install Kexi and the SQLite database browser. The Software Center will not all them to install. I don't care about security certificates. This is a MAJOR USABILITY PROBLEM. Most user will not know to go the command line and install software from there. This needs to be fixed. I call it a bug. Either remove the packages that will not install without a certificate or fix the problem so this doesn't happen anymore. I'm planning on training people how to install software. This puts a big roadblock in my way. I can resolve this issue, but most people will become completely lost and frustrated when they can't install software. [Bug 452067] Re: indicator-applet-session should launch empathy if I change my status
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 550824 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/550824 I think our wires are crossed, of course I agree with you that accounts need to be specified before the user can "go online". My issue is that every time I boot my machine I need to open empathy once per session to activate the Me Menu otherwise the "Change Status" options are disabled (greyed out) for the entire session (my accounts were configured long ago). I'm running the Ubuntu 11.04 Beta 2 so the bug 550824 issue has been fixed on my machine where as the issue from bug 452067 still remains.. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/452067 Title: indicator-applet-session should launch empathy if I change my status -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
