[Bug 769652] Re: tab display is degraded, must be opened up in a new window
I've confirmed the same problem that was reported above. I have a "Checking" Account Name under the Accounts tab. When I double click it I see The green banner of column names {Date | Num | Description | Transfer | R| Deposit | Withdrawal | Balance (ignore the '|' between column names - I just used it to separate the names). At the very bottom I see the summary of my account with (Present: $xx Future: $xx: Cleared: $xx Reconciled $xx Projected Minimum: $xx). Here again the $xx, are my amounts. Right above the summary is a cut off $ Grand total: $xx line. Other than that everything is unchanged as it appears as if the Checking tab wasn't ever opened. In other words everything else on the page shows as if the Accounts tab was the only tab. What is probably going to make this problem difficult to debug is that I don't see this on all of my accounts. Just this one. I have another account which opens fine in the tab when I double click it. The issue that I am seeing with my "Checking" Account Name is repeatable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/769652 Title: tab display is degraded, must be opened up in a new window -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 773789] [NEW] Distribution upgrade to 11.04 failed silently when directory has wrong permission
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager I tried to upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 using update-manager started from the System menu. I clicked "Upgrade" to bring up the release notes, and then clicked "Upgrade" again. At this point I get the release notes window closes and I get back the previous window (the one when update manager first starts). There was no indication of what has gone wrong (or even that anything had gone wrong). When I ran update-manager from command line, I see the following error message: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/UpdateManager/UpdateManager.py", line 962, in on_button_dist_upgrade_clicked fetcher.run() File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/UpdateManager/Core/DistUpgradeFetcherCore.py", line 247, in run if not self.fetchDistUpgrader(): File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/UpdateManager/Core/DistUpgradeFetcherCore.py", line 217, in fetchDistUpgrader result = fetcher.run() SystemError: E:Archives directory /var/cache/apt/archives/partial is missing. - Acquire (13: Permission denied) Somehow my directory has the wrong permission. That was easily fixed. The "bug" here is that the error message should be reported so the user can do something about it, and not just fail silently leaving the user waiting to see if anything is happening (though I could tell from ps that nothing was happening). ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/773789 Title: Distribution upgrade to 11.04 failed silently when directory has wrong permission -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 766549] Re: et131x: cannot connect to wired network after hibernate
Yes, later I noticed this should not be a regression. I didn't saw before that in fact et131x is missing suspend/resume hooks, so any kernel version should fail, and the original error in first dmesg you posted is another problem (which the fix I included in first kernel works). I implemented suspend/resume support, and uploaded a new kernel to the same previous url, please download and check linux-image-2.6.38-8-generic_2.6.38-8.42+lp766549r2_i386.deb Do the usual suspend/resume test you did, and attach here the dmesg. If it works, then please also test these cases: - boot without network cable, suspend, resume, and after this attach cable again. - suspend with cable attached, remove before resume, and resume the machine. - suspend without cable, attach the cable before resume, and resume the machine. In all cases you should not have problems after resume, if there is any issue please report. If everything works, I'll submit the patch upstream and work to integrate it into Ubuntu. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Herton R. Re: [Bug 648180] Re: Unity is not an adequate replacement for Gnome2 (and sucks a little bit less then it used to)
Please stop changing the bug title and please don't use this bug as a meta-bug to complain about how things are different. If you have an issue with the way Unity is designed or an issue with stability or an issue with something not working the way it should then file a separate bug detailing your issue under ayatana-design, unity or compiz. Every time you comment on this bug with a separate issue or change the bug title, the developers get more bug spam to deal with every morning, and this makes them less productive and less likely to fix the bugs that you want fixed. @Samuel As Lucas says, reporting this bug in linux in Ubuntu was appropriate. But you're right too--it should be reported upstream if it hasn't already. And this bug should be linked to the upstream bug report (with the "Also affects project" link near the top of this bug page). [Bug 311179] Re: libparted does not return the correct devices to ubiquity
I tried installing onto a nested fakedraid and since 9.10, have never gotten it to install. This bug seems to be the problem, and removing the patch as described here got me close to complete. The Grub2 didn't seem to like the nested fakeraid, at that point. Anyway trying just now with 11.04, dmraid doesn't seem active when the installer is run straight from boot. When you have the option to try or install, click "try" to start the livecd, and use a terminal to execute "sudo dmraid -ay", which will start the device mapper. Then you can click the shortcut on the desktop folder to install, and the RAID partitions will be there. Whether or not this bug bites you then, is another question. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311179 Title: libparted does not return the correct devices to ubiquity -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have this bug too, but a bit different. Loaded 10.10 on Asus eeeBox EB1007. No wired LAN connection after boot. Wireless is OK. I can solve this by unplugging LAN cable just for a second and replug it back in. I can also get a connection by doing sudo ifconfig eth0 down, and then sudo ifconfig eth0 up. [Bug 648180] Re: Unity is not an adequate replacement for Gnome2 (and sucks a little bit less then it used to)
"You know you can go back to Gnome 2." Yes, I know. My wife has already opted to do so. She tried Unity for about 2 days, thought it was some kind of sick joke and requested that I "fix" her computer. I'm a ten year Linux veteran and I figured we were finally getting somewhere with this Linux on the desktop thing. Often when a piece of software is this badly designed, you just throw it away and start over. Treat it as a learning experience. In this case I think there are some good ideas floating around. :) They're just in the wrong place, behave the wrong way, and provide the wrong functionality. :-P And if I can stay and help "fix" unity, I'm just stubborn enough that I will. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/648180 Title: Unity is not an adequate replacement for Gnome2 (and sucks a little bit less then it used to) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 486303] Re: Every illegal character aren't well detected and forbidden
Bonjour Thibault I don't like to see you ending this participation with bad feelings. I understand that from your perspective you are making an effort to contribute, and you are using your valuable time for this. I tried to identify positives in your contribution and I must honestly say that the only thing I came up with is effort. And a lot of it. If I may give you a feedback regarding this interaction, you need to be more patient and consider the effect of your efforts on others. Please consider that it is not only your time, but also the time of those that read the reports and act on them. When you post the patch twice in two different places (mailing list and bug tracker), it is more work for us (two downloads, that must be compared to make sure that they are really the same, and if not to find out which one is the newer/right one). Furthermore, when you write on the ML "I'm not on the ML, don't forget me in your eventual answers.", it puts the onus of not forgetting you on eventual replier. If you want a reply, it is up to you to make the effort to receive it; and if you send something to an ML, it is the minimum respect and courtesy for those whose time is used reading your post to go back to that ML and read their replies. As far as testing is concerned, best practice is to use the latest repository version, or at least a version after the fix. If you can't build yourself, for whatever reason, wait until you can get a binary produced after the fix. If you relies on the nightlies, wait for a more recent nightly to be available. This may mean waiting a day or two. Or more if the nightlies-process is broken, as it sometimes happens, but it is important to respect the time of those reading the feedback. Feedback on a version prior to Thomas modification is a waste of time - yours and ours. Ultimately, it seems to me that you lack patience. I did not look if you posted first on the bug tracker or first on the mailing list, but it seems to me that you did not wait for feedback and just re-posted. You did not wait for the change to propagate to the binary that you use for testing, resulting in testing against an obsolete binary that wasted the time of everybody involved - including you. You are welcome to contribute again. Just learn to be patient and adapt to the project's pace and communication means. If you are not sure, ask (e.g. ask if a patch is better posted on the ML or in the BT).
