2011-05-03 Thread Brian Murray
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment to this bug report it
seems that there may be a problem with your hardware. I'd recommend
performing a back up and then investigate the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections and using software tools
to investigate the health of your hardware. Thanks and good luck!

[Bug 761723] Re: Computer unbootable after Natty install

2011-05-03 Thread James Pursey
Hi

I've had to re-install Maverick on this machine as I use it at work. I'd
like to try the procedure you mention this weekend. Will this be
possible under Maverick? I mean, if I follow the procedure before I do
an update -d, will Natty install with the proposed kernel? If not, how
can I get this to work? As I said, I've already tried modifying
sources.list and then upgrading via chroot, but I couldn't get it to
work.

[Bug 746904] Re: package traceroute 2.0.13-2 failed to install/upgrade: Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should reinstall it before attempting a removal.

[Bug 749986] Re: Windows resize problem

2011-05-03 Thread teimcrr
Confirmed here, fresh install of Natty.
However, this odd behaviour is present only the first time you try to resize a
LibreOffice window.
After pressing ESC and clicking on the desktop to unfocus the window, then
resize works normally.

[Bug 776892] Re: streflop needs packaging

2011-05-03 Thread Kip Warner
** Description changed:

  The streflop library needs packaging.

A computer has a finite memory, and cannot represent an infinity of
numbers. If you add 0.1 + 0.1 in C++ you will probably not get the
mathematical result 0.2. The problem is that what you get depends on
many parameters. On one configuration, you may get something like
0.1995, and on another 0.1999. For the vast majority of programs, these
small differences do not matter. But if you want to reproduce the same
results twice, for a scientific experiment for example, on different
machines or even on the same machine but with different options, then
you have to be more careful. Much more careful, because these small
differences can occasionally accumulate quite fast.

The STandalone REproducible FLOating-Point library which is the subject
of this page allows you to control how the computations are done in C++.
The goal is to make your programs give reliable and reproducible
  results.

[Bug 769298] Re: Global menu still displaying menu after app is close

2011-05-03 Thread DarkRedman
I've the same bug.

I got this after I closed nautilus which took time to close, and while
it was closing I "played" showing on and off the global menu by hovering
it. And finally it closed but while I kept the cursor on the global menu
which stay, that's the way to reproduce that bug.

I join a capture image.

[Bug 771905] Re: No logo at boot on nvidia card

2011-05-03 Thread Dizzy
The same story with my workstation: 1900x1200 and NVidia 9600GTX with
proprietary drivers.
I have pink screen at boot without logo and LUKS password prompt for encrypted
root partition.
However, system allows me to enter password without looking and then continues
to boot normally.

The following lines are set in /etc/default/grub:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset
video=uvesafb:mode_option=1920x1200-24,mtrr=3,scroll=ywrap"
GRUB_GFXMODE=1920x1200

If I set GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=1920x1200 additionaly, screen becomes
pink, then black with the same behaviour.

[Bug 776892] [NEW] streflop needs packaging

2011-05-03 Thread Kip Warner
Public bug reported:

The goal is to make your programs give reliable and reproducible
results.

[Bug 746941] Re: package linux-image-2.6.35-28-generic (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess dpkg-deb --fsys-tarfile returned error exit status 2

Adding a compiz task. Whether or not there's an actual compiz bug under
here, it seems like there's a workaround that could be applied in
Compiz.
