[Bug 783825] [NEW] window's title bar disappears
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg window has no title bar. I can not move or resize the window. Visual Effects is "None" (By default, I choose "Normal", but it changed to "None" by itself). If I choose "Normal" again, the title bar appears, but next time I boot my laptop, the problem comes back. I add "metacity" and "compiz" to the startup application list, and it solves the problem, but a more serious problem comes that a process with no name but a big pid (>1 or >2) runs, then it terminates immediately and a new process (still no name) with a bigger pid runs. It looks like a endless loop, and my CPU gets hot, the display slows down. I know my laptop is an old one with legacy hardware, but Ubuntu 9.10 works fine on it, the display is good, and wireless netcard works fine. Now 10.04 does not support them any more. :-( ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: xorg 1:7.5+5ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-25.45-generic 2.6.32.21+drm33.7 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-25-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue May 17 13:59:00 2011 DkmsStatus: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release amd64 (20100429) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP Compaq 6515b (KS256PA#AB2) PccardctlIdent: Socket 0: no product info available PccardctlStatus: Socket 0: no card ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-2.6.32-25-generic root=UUID=041956dd-d8d5-4745-bfc8-0225d12c1410 ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display dmi.bios.date: 03/04/2008 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: 68YTT Ver. [Bug 783819] [NEW] Copied podcasts don't show up on iPod. This has been reported as fixed, yet still persists on v2.0
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: banshee I'm running Natty 11.04 and trying to get into Banshee and see what it can do. There is a serious problem with the way it handles podcasts on an iPod. I'd imported other podcasts using gPodder and then wanted to import music from Banshee. Everything's fine. Then I go my podcasts (Main Menu > Podcasts) only to find that it says I have nothing there. I reconnect and in Banshee everything looks fine. However, now I can't get gPodder to recognize that the iPod is connected. GTKPod says everything is there, but another (and wrong) playlist has been created called "Podcasts." Now I have two. So, what if I download the podcasts in Banshee and transfer them in Banshee? Same problem! This bug is four years old (https://bugs.launchpad.net/banshee/+bug/140489) and according to Launchpad has already been fixed when, in fact, it has not. [Bug 697358] Re: regression in window list applet (wnck-applet) behavior
This is a core compiz problem in Natty (not even a problem with the window-decorator) from what I can tell. I was using a Natty VM and selectively replaced some components from Maverick's compiz. Here are the results. Natty Compiz and Natty Decorator: this bug. Natty Compiz and Maverick Decorator: segfault. Maverick Compiz and Maverick Decorator: perfect. Maverick Compiz and Natty Decorator: works awful, but does not exhibit this particular bug. I looked at libwnck, metacity, and gnome-panel too, including diffing the source code between the two, but when I tried the different compiz packages I was convinced that these three aforementioned packages were not at fault. I didn't even think metacity was used at all during compiz, but I just wanted to make sure. My conclusion is that something in the core of Natty's compiz is an issue. Doing a diff between the two is difficult because it looks like they moved from C to C++ in at least some of the source code! I'm not so concerned about correlation, causation, and interaction between all these problems. As far as I'm concerned someone who updated compiz broke it and caused a regression and that's about it. Don't make major changes unless it's a major version update. I will try to limit it down to a specific commit but right now that's looking difficult and I might just throw in the towel and install Maverick's compiz back on my Natty system because there are definitely other compiz problems with this version, too. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/697358 Title: regression in window list applet (wnck-applet) behavior -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
