Hi Pedro! The bug seems to have gone away at some point. (I had disabled
the plugin for a while so I didn’t notice.)

[Bug 767009] Re: Can't upgrade from 10.4 to 10.10...

2011-05-31 Thread Javier Oliver
Initially, I needed to upgrade for some problems that I have with programming
libraries.
However, before I received your last email I had managed to correctly install
the dependencies that I needed, and have postponed the upgrade, which I will do
in a near future... but not now as it works perfectly...

Thanks for your help. I will let you know when I update the system.

[Bug 790635] Re: most benchmarks do not work at all

2011-05-31 Thread Andreas Glaeser
Upon trying to run those benchmarks, there was a process called 'backend' which
loaded the cpu to about 90%. Upon reboot that was gone.
By the Way: The package 'chromium-browser' is missing, but
'chromium-browser-inspector' exists, but it is impossible to report that.
Is it OK to use chromium-browser while not wanting to use google-web-search
anyway?

[Bug 791066] [NEW] Impossibile to change keyboard layout while renaming a file in Nautilus 2.32.2.1

2011-05-31 Thread Fiable.biz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

This bug concerns Ubuntu 11.04 64 bits with
Unity 3.8.12-0ubuntu1 .
The file management system has been changed to Nautilus 2.32.2.1. If I
right-click on a file name, choose "rename", type some Latin characters then
press on the right win key, which I've configured to be the keyboard layout
switcher, in order to add characters in Mongolian Cyrillic, then my changes are
dropped, so that it's very difficult to mix Latin and Cyrillic characters in a
file name. This is very necessary, for instance to name a file in Cyrillic with
a valid extension (in Latin characters), such as "Отгонцэцэг.txt". This bug
doesn't concern Ubuntu 11.04 classic 64 bits.
I would expect that, as in Ubuntu classic, when one switchs layout while
renaming a file in Nautilus, he be able to go on typing the file name.

[Bug 690092] Re: pcscd is not executed during startup

2011-05-31 Thread Amiad Salton
The same bug happens also if I install pcscd and ccid from Ubuntu
Synaptic Package Manager (which installs pcscd 1.7.0 and ccid 1.4.2).

However, what should I do in order to overcome that problem. I don't
like to go back and install older versions of pcscd (older than 1.6.0)
which load pcscd at startup and not on demand.

Brilliant find! Removing tangerine from the gnome 'Startup Applications'
list sovled the issue indeed.

Note that for one user, the 'tangerine' entry had already been disabled
(unchecked) _but_ I had to remove an entry listed as 'Unknown Program'
(or 'Unknown Application' ... don't remember sorry) as well. Inspecting
the details of that entry (by clicking the Edit button) showed that it
was linked to the tangerine executable as well!

Thanks, Jay, this helps a lot. I reckon not directly for tangerine
users, which I'm not, but at least this longstanding (!!!) annoyance has
been pinpointed and it will be easy to fix, I feel, tahnks again,

Seth

[Bug 556782] Re: [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200

2011-05-31 Thread Brian Visel
It seems to decrease the corruption initally, but doesn't fix the issue.
My system was workable for about five minutes or so before corruption
became a major issue (but I think it depends more on patterns of usage,
though -- if I open more apps, corruption shows up more quickly). Also,
running just glxgears, it takes a while (and some dragging of glxgears
around the screen) to start in with the corruption.

The fix is pending. Have a look at
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~unity-team/compiz-core/core.fix_edgebuttons/revision/2755

It is dependent on a few other things though, so once we land them
we'll land this one too.

[Bug 701294] Re: Always show menu bar for non-maximised windows

2011-05-31 Thread Johannes Gowin
I totally agree with Robert's suggestion about the Global Menu. And by a
possible configuration option it wouldn't have to look like this anymore
(I guess the intention was to show which menu I'm working with, but it
looks quite ugly (unaethetic) to use the space of the buttons to show
the application's name).

[Bug 787995] Re: Leafpad segfaults

2011-05-31 Thread tdn
I am runnning the distributed Ubuntu-package version of leafpad.
However, during my investigation of the problem I wanted to run it
through gdb and produce a useful backtrace to see where the error
occured. Thus, I needed debug symbols. As I could not find any -dbg
package in the mirrors, I did an apt-get source leafpad in order to
obtain the source code. Then I compiled it myself and ran it through gdb
in order to produce the above traces. Please note, I did not change
anything in the source AND it produces the same error when using the
pre-packaged version of leafpad as when I am using the self-compiled
one. This bug is reported for the Ubuntu-packaged one and not the self-
compiled version. I am sorry for any confusion and I hope this is clear
now.

According to the backtrace, the error happens on line 83 in window.c.
This is what hinted the theme relation.

They won't work when the window is not focused, yes.

Have a look at section 6.3 of the ICCCM for why they can't work:
http://tronche.com/gui/x/icccm/sec-6.html . In order to raise windows
we need to ensure that we can capture button clicks on them (otherwise
click raise won't work on anything other than the titlebar). By doing
this it will trigger a "grab" on the other application and it gets a
LeaveNotify event (the same kind of event that is given when the
cursor leaves the subwindow).

... unfortunately there is a bug in GTK+ where it does not actually
check the *reason* the LeaveNotify event was given, so the link will
not work in the case where we have the grab. I poked through the GTK+
code to try and figure out why this was, but I couldn't get a
substantive answer.

I've changed the compiz code in N to reflect this problem, so now we
do passive button grabs as little as possible, and only on windows
that we actually own.

Let me know if you're still experiencing this problem on focused and
raised windows.

[Bug 791058] [NEW] anjuta-python-autocomplete.py missing

2011-05-31 Thread Thorsten Sick
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: anjuta

In Anjuta for 11.4 anjuta-python-autocomplete.py seems to be missing:
(anjuta:5473): language-support-python-WARNING **: Problem in python script:
/usr/bin/python: can't open file

I just copied it and code completion seems to work now. And no complains
on stdout.

[Bug 106529] Re: update-manager loses the selection

2011-05-31 Thread Sitsofe Wheeler
Brendan, Robert:
You're right - there is barely anything between these two so duping either way
seems fine. I should have looked at the initial reporting dates rather than
just bug number.

Robert:
You know what you're doing far better than I :-) My apologies for commenting in
error and from above it appears most agree with your decision so I wouldn't
worry.

[Bug 551467] Re: Synaptic touchpad Smart Mode is grayed out (systemsettings)

2011-05-31 Thread Stephan Diestelhorst
So let me try to summarise what has happened here: The fix was to remove
the "Smart Mode" altogether, because it was broken? This is a little
underwhelming, you know :-)

Is there any specific problem with the config tool cofiguring an
instance of syndaemon that gets started at KDE session start?

[Bug 791051] Re: Chromium B.S.U game's start screen lettering is blocked and blurred

2011-05-31 Thread Micah Gersten
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in chromium-bsu.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about
this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Re: [Bug 588569] Re: Uses excessive memory on import

2011-05-31 Thread Dave
Hi Vera,
About 1/3 of the photos would have been RAW, no more, taken with Nikon
digital SLRs, so NEF file formats.
Shotwell was installed as part of the regular Ubuntu 11.04 installation
process. No special debs or ppas involved.
I will try to reproduce myself again to confirm. I've found Unity to have
some problems so will also log into Ubuntu Classic and see if I can
reproduce.

Since upgrading to Natty I can't run unity (or compiz) with Nvidia proprietary

Using nouveau drivers unity session is loaded correctly and fully working.

This is not a duplicate of bug #709461. It needs to have its Importance
upgraded. It needs to be fixed - and soon. I'm trying to do
development that requires extensive use of the mouse. This bug makes it
impossible to do so.

2011-05-31 Thread Martin Pitt
I backported the patch to natty's gvfs, and uploaded to the natty-
proposed queue, as per request from Ayan/OEM. Ayan, once Clint or
another ubuntu-sru member reviews this, can you please test the proposed
package, so that it can go into -updates?

Thanks!

undecided - well to those experiencing, it is Urgent. It severely

[Bug 777498] Re: indicator does not light up or indicate number of new messages

2011-05-31 Thread Honestleaf
I have two IMAP(one Gmail and the other is from my university) accounts
and one POP3(MSN) account. This notification works all fine with the two
IMAP accounts but not the POP3 account. My workaround for this is using
a Gmail(or other IMAP service provider that makes the indicator work) to
warp the POP3 account. I keep the account's outgoing setting unchanged
and replace the receiving option by the new Gmail account. Now the
indicator works ... not perfect, but I think I can accept that ...

[Bug 791039] [NEW] Scanner would not shut down following end of scanning.

2011-05-31 Thread Catin Dehat
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: simple-scan

Used Simple Scan with HP Officejet 6210 for first time. Upon last page
finished scanning, last sheet was not ejected and scanner (an all-in-
one) display persisted showing "Scanning" for so long it appeared
something was hung. Forced to remove last sheet by hand and press on/off
button to force shutdown. I do not know if this was a communication
failure between Simple Scan and the scanner.

[Bug 511379] Re: Jockey fails to install Broadcom STA wireless driver (BCM4311)

2011-05-31 Thread brianfactors
The same problem on my Dell Inspiron 1545, which is running Broadcom
Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY (rev 01) according to lspci.

I SOLVED this problem using the guide from Broadcom:
http://www.broadcom.com/docs/linux_sta/README.txt (see at the bottom
under "Ubuntu"). I think this is the same solution given by Stanley.

The weirdest thing about this bug is that IT DID NOT HAPPEN WHEN I RAN
THE LIVE CD. Probably means that Jockey needs to recompile the bcm
kernel (which isn't really a problem when running from a thumb drive).
