[Bug 669211] Re: Xpdf segfaults on start in libpoppler.so.7

2011-06-08 Thread Horst Schirmeier
Ursula's PPA works fine, thanks!

I cannot believe Ubuntu's xpdf is still *completely unusable* seven
months after this bug report, even though there's a known fix, be it an
unfavorable one or not.

[Bug 725580] Re: black screen on boot on radeon 9200

2011-06-08 Thread Sergey "Shnatsel" Davidoff
Doesn't work for me - hangs up even earlier than it used to. However, it
might be a different bug. Too bad it doesn't support my keyboard at boot
time.

  * dbus_backend/ls-dbus-backend:
- When applying the language settings system-wide, set the fonts
  configuration also when the first LANGUAGE item is just 'ja' or

2011-06-08 Thread Eliah Kagan
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

  On a Sony VAIO VGN-NW13F laptop with a single on-board Intel video chip
  and no external monitors running Lubuntu Natty amd64 in a Lubuntu
  Desktop session, a GPU lockup was reported by Apport to have occurred.
  This did not happen upon or shortly after login--I had logged on over 14
  days previously, and the computer had not been hibernated or suspended
- in the intervening time. Therefore, while otherwise similar to bug
- 767475, this bug did not occur under similar circumstances. However,
- like in bug 767341, which is a duplicate of bug 767475, I was running
- VMware virtualization software when the crash occurred. Specifically, I
- was running VMware Workstation 7.1.4 build-385536, with a single virtual
- machine running. The virtual machine did not itself have graphics
- acceleration enabled, but I wouldn't expect that to be necessary for
- triggering this bug. Unlike bug 767341, I was not interacting with the
- virtual machine when the bug occurred, but I wouldn't expect that to be
- necessary either.
+ in the intervening time. Furthermore, the vesa video driver (with which
+ the i915 driver may have conflicted to produce this, had it been
+ running) was not loaded, according to the output of lsmod. Therefore,
+ while otherwise similar to bug 767475, this bug did not occur under
+ similar circumstances. However, like in bug 767341, which is a duplicate
+ of bug 767475, I was running VMware virtualization software when the

  I am filing this report in case, upon further inspection, there is
  evidence that this is a separate bug, or valuable information not
  present in other reports. I will probably mark this a duplicate of bug
  767475 shortly, after more closely examining the information
  automatically attached by Apport.

[Bug 794474] Re: latitude e6420 screen flickering (sandy bridge intel video card)

2011-06-08 Thread Manuel
Actually it seems to be a HW related issue as moving the laptop in
another office "solves" the flickering issue.

Though, the latest xorg-edgers packages broke the external VGA output,
but it's not related to this issue.

[Bug 794855] [NEW] Sync gdmap 0.8.1-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2011-06-08 Thread Stephen Kitt
Public bug reported:

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

Please sync gdmap 0.8.1-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
All the patches new to the Ubuntu package have been imported in the
updated Debian package.

Changelog entries since current oneiric version 0.8.1-1.1ubuntu2:

gdmap (0.8.1-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * New maintainer (Closes: #594406).
  * Switch to source format "(3.0) quilt":
- Drop dependency on dpatch.
- Drop 01_gtktooltip.dpatch, unused.
- Drop 02_gtk-disable-deprecated.dpatch, unused.
- Import 03_manpage.dpatch as manpage.patch.
- Import 04_deprecated_GTK.dpatch as gtk-widget-macros.patch and
  handle GTK_WIDGET_SET_FLAGS as well (Closes: #621983).
- Drop data/gdmap.desktop, intltool-extract, intltool-merge and
  intltool-update (they are generated during the build).
  * Simplify debian/rules using dh 7 and autotools-dev.
  * Correctly load gdmap's icon, and avoid printing an error message if
the settings file doesn't exist (Closes: #579043).
  * Use link to specific GPL version in debian/copyright, and update
copyright dates.
  * Add ${misc:Depends} dependency since we're using debhelper.
  * Add watch file.
  * Remove the obsolete "Encoding" directive from the desktop file.
  * Import patch adding new file types from Ubuntu.
  * Standards-Version 3.9.2, no further change required.
  * Convert debian/copyright to DEP5 format.
  * Reduce dependencies by linking with --as-needed (thanks to Stefano
Rivera for this and other suggestions!).
  * Fix grammatical mistake (as suggested by Lintian).
  * Wrap and sort dependencies.

[Bug 734798] Re: nvidia-current gifs no video in videoplayers

2011-06-08 Thread Yuji Yamagami
Exact same problem here : Ubuntu 11.04 unity, Graphics card GeForce 8400
GS, nvidia-driver-173

By accident, I found that by running NVIDIA Xserver setting, right click
on the NVIDIA icon on unity menu bar, and mark it as "Always show" is
enough to have the same effect as running the same program from system
setting. This is only a workround, but in effect, I can watch videos
immediately after login without running the xserver setting thing.

Hope this helps.

This is not a regression, so this doesn't block propagation of the

2011-06-08 Thread Zero
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 649809 ***

This seems to be related since symptoms are exactly the same:

There seems to be a way to workaround the issue stated un the page
bellow and also this seem to be related to this bug report in
particular:

[Bug 794851] [NEW] Exit "Full screen" mode Problem

2011-06-08 Thread Pratik Patel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

When I press F11 to exit full screen mode in Natty Narwhal with Unity 3D, I
can't see Dash or top-most panel,
I mean when I press F11, I certainly exit from Full screen mode but I can't see
any thing on top of New Tab ([+]) button, I mean I can't have title bar with
Dash, that's why I can't minimise firefox or close it, or I even can't even see
launcher.
This happen after a long time of Full screen Browsing.

[Bug 794849] [NEW] Remove mpeg4ip from oneiric

2011-06-08 Thread Maia Kozheva
Public bug reported:

mpeg4ip is a very old unmaintained package. All upstream development
stopped in 2007. ( http://mpeg4ip.sourceforge.net/ )

Previously, mpeg4ip was included in multiverse because of libmp4v2,
which was used by some applications to read/write MP4 file metadata.
However, the MPL license of this library meant it could not be legally
linked against GPL software without a special exception, so most
programs depending on it in fact violated its license.

(In fact, it's not even strictly MPL - it's a mess of four different
licenses - but that's not the point here.)

Now all hard dependencies on libmp4v2 have been removed from oneiric.
Seeing how having the library in the repository doesn't seem to be
useful at the moment, and following previous discussion on the ubuntu-
motu and ubuntu-devel-discuss mailing lists, I suggest removing it
altogether, along with the rest of the mpeg4ip package.

If - *if* - we need libmp4v2 in the future, we can upload a new version
from the Google Code fork ( http://code.google.com/p/mp4v2/ ), which is
still MPL, but at least actively maintained. For the time being,
however, I see no point in packaging it.

[Bug 794843] [NEW] Wallpaper slideshow memory leak

2011-06-08 Thread TuTToWeB
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I'm experiencing memory leak with xorg in both lucid and maverick if I
set an .xml file for wallpaper slideshow. Xorg gets all the memory up to
4GB in few minutes. Using top, I saw memory usage increased when
wallpaper changes. Because it changes every 5 secs, lacking is totally
out of controll. Disabling compiz the issue seems disappeard, even
though (with top as well) leaking is still there (but slower than when
compiz is running)

[Bug 374900] Re: Libfaac not LGPL

2011-06-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package faac - 1.28-0ubuntu1

---
faac (1.28-0ubuntu1) oneiric; urgency=low

  * New upstream release. Package based on Debian Multimedia team git.
(LP: #395902)
  * debian/copyright documents all applicable licenses. The package as a whole
is not LGPL and will stay in multiverse. (LP: #374900)
  * Back to using a bundled internal copy of libmp4v2 in the frontend. The
external libmp4v2 will eventually be removed.

faac (1.28-0fab3) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Andres Mejia ]
  * Various fixes for getting faac working on current Debian sid.
  * Include myself in Uploaders field.
  * Clarify comment about build fixes in patch.
  * Change this package section to non-free due to its conflicting
licensing terms.
  * Don't include libtool file.

  [ Maia Kozheva ]
  * Add .gitignore.
  * Remove explicit quilt dependency, migrate to 3.0 source format.
  * Remove autoreconf.patch, using dh_autoreconf.
  * debian/control:
- Reword binary package descriptions to remove initial articles.
- Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.2.
- Update maintainer field.
- Add myself to uploaders.
  * debian/control, debian/rules:
- Remove quilt, add dh-autoreconf support.
  * debian/faac.manpages, debian/manpages/faac.1:

[Bug 794841] [NEW] fsck prompt for missing device doesn't time out, hangs unattended/headless server boot indefinitely

2011-06-08 Thread Craig Ringer
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 571444 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571444

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mountall

During boot, an Ubuntu machine installed as a server from the
"alternate" CD will pause indefinitely waiting for console input if an
fstab line points to a device that is not present and fsck would
normally be run on that device. It prints "The disk drive for / is not
ready yet or not present. Continue to wait; or press s to skip mounting
or M for manual recovery" then waits for input. This halt occurs before
sshd comes up and is only on the console, so a headless server has to be
physically accessed to resolve the problem.

This is not a crash. Pressing "S" allows the server to continue booting,
but you have to have a keyboard plugged in and a display to see what you
need to do, or at least need a serial console in place. This is far from
ideal for a remote headless machine.

This is particularly problematic because mdadm doesn't auto-assemble and
start degraded RAID arrays that are not the boot device, so a server
with a degraded RAID array will fail to boot if that array is not the
boot device. I encountered this on a big RAID backup server where the
device containing root,boot,usr,var etc is is a little low-power SSD and
all the real storage lives on a RAID array. When a disk dropped out of
the array and we lost power, the server failed to come back up because
it was sitting at this fsck prompt.

Recommended fix: Time out on the prompt after 60 seconds, defaulting to
"S" for skip. Do not wait for input on subsequent prompts if more than
one is displayed, automatically skip if the first prompt timed out. The
latter is important because many servers will have 10 or more file
systems and you don't want a 60-second timeout on each.

[Bug 771875] Re: Compiz Screenshot renders blue overlay on screenshots

2011-06-08 Thread Erin Heimer
Bug seems to have something to do with the quickness of grabbing the
screenshot. When I take it really quickly, while still moving the
mouse, it comes up with the blue transparency. When I pause the mouse
for a second before letting go of the button, I get a good screenshot
without blue overlay.

[Bug 794828] [NEW] overlay menus make some important features disappear

2011-06-08 Thread Louis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: denemo

Using ubuntu 11.04 with Unity...

Took me a while to realise why the menus were not as complete as I read
in the manual... but a screenshot confirmed it and I was able to run the
denemo app properly after sending the directive

export UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0

in a terminal and before launching denemo... I think this means that
denemo should be on the menuproxy blacklist...

** Affects: denemo (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Tags: menuproxy unity

[Bug 794230] Re: Please merge rsyslog 5.8.1-1 (main) from debian unstable

2011-06-08 Thread Scott Moser
well, at this point I have 3 builds:
 a.) debian archive build (5.8.1-1)
 b.) debian build (5.8.1-1) in oneiric sbuild
 c.) build on the runtime system using bzr bd of debian source (5.8.1-1)
 d.) build not through debuild (CFLAGS="-g -O2" ./configure --prefix=...)
 e.) build of same source from rsyslog git

a and d do not fail.
b and c do.

I'm not sure what changes there are between c and d.
