[Bug 798040] [NEW] run command histroy not shown first time after reboot
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity When hitting alt+f2 the first time after reboot, it shows just the small bar where you can type the command, not the bigger window with most used/recently used commands. When you type just one letter in the box the window will expand to show the history. I think this behaviour is inconsistent and requires users to perform an unnecessary extra action when they want to run a custom command. What I would like to see is that the alt+f2 window always opens up showing the most used commands, and not to make an exception when its the first time after reboot. [Bug 758785] Re: [arrandale] Display flickers or blank on login (x86_64)
Hi Stefan, Just wanted to check in with you again regarding this bug. It's great that you've been able to work around the problem by using the newer kernel. Talking with Jesse Barnes (Intel upstream), a number of fixes went in to the kernel for this generation of hardware subsequent to what was pulled for Ubuntu's kernel in natty, so it sounds like we're just missing a key patch or two. [@Kernel team - might want to pick jbarnes' brain for patches worth pulling.] I think the next logical step would be to do a git bisect search on the kernel to identify what the fix was. The kernel team may have some better suggestions, but if you want to go forward with the bisection search, they've documented the procedure pretty well here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection. Since it appears this is pinpointed to the kernel rather than X, I'm going to go ahead and close out the X task at this time. I'll try to set the kernel tasks tags and such to hopefully get it on that team's radar, but you may want to ping them if you don't hear from them within a few weeks. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Triaged ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu Natty) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu Natty) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu Natty) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Natty) Milestone: None => natty-updates ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Natty) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Natty) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Natty) Assignee: (unassigned) => Steve Conklin (sconklin) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/758785 Title: [arrandale] Display flickers or blank on login (x86_64) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/758785/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Printer sharing also doesn't work, I'm not sure if it's due to this bug or another. How to reproduce: 1. On the host computer directly connected to the LaserJet, apply the fixes as per comment #4, #5, #7 above. 2. Verify that the host computer can print to the LaserJet successfully. 3. On the host computer, enable print sharing. (System > Administration > Printing > Server > Settings > Publish shared printers connected to this system) and share the LaserJet if it's not shared yet. 4. On another computer, enable shared printer discovery (System > Administration > Printing > Server > Settings > Show printers shared by other systems). HP LaserJet should show up in a few seconds. 5. Print through that other computer to that LaserJet, it fails. When the LaserJet printer is inspected on the client computer, the Device URI says "file:///dev/null" A workaround is to add printer manually, and select Network Printer > Internet Printing Protocol (ipp), then configure : (for example) Host: 192.168.66.7 Queue: /printers/HP-LaserJet-P1005 This works, but is not practical for many number of computers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/783389 Title: HP LaserJet 1000/1005/1018/1020/P1005/P1006/... [Bug 798025] [NEW] no way in Ubuntu 11.04 to configure chromium to open links in a new window
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: chromium-browser I'm not sure if it was a GNOME or an Ubuntu decision, but removing the ability in the "Preferred Applications" GNOME capplet to use a customized command-line to open HTTP URL links in a preferred web browser in a customized way, _really_ irritates me. I guess this is a two part issue: 1) that Chromium apparently can't be screwed to give users the option to open URLs in new windows, and 2) that GNOME capplet guys zealously remove options with absolutely no regard to advanced users and commonly used advanced options. I've not yet found a way to work around this either. I even tried setting the preferred http* handlers in gconf-editor to open a shell script that in turn opened the URL with "chromium-browser --new-window $*", but that didn't work either, oddly enough. [Bug 798020] [NEW] MusicBrainz data not found if more than one release matching disc ID
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: banshee On numerous CDs I've tried to import, Banshee is unable to locate the release. The release shows up as Unknown Album / Unknown Artist, and a display indicating "Could not fetch track information" appears under the track list. However, matching releases are found for many other CDs. Sound Juicer is able to locate the metadata, so the release is there. However, in each instance where I've seen this problem, Sound Juicer has asked me to select one of several matching releases, so it appears that Banshee has failed because there were multiple matches. It had no issue when a single match was found (and Sound Juicer in this case did not prompt to disambiguate). This problem likely became frequent after the NGS (Next Generation Schema) update in May. When the schema was updated, releases with multiple "release events" were split into multiple releases, with one release event each but with all disc IDs. So, while the situation was possible before, it was unlikely, but after the update it would happen on any release with more than one release event and at least one disc ID. (Without a disc ID it's moot as there is nothing for Banshee to match). ** Affects: banshee (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/798020 Title: MusicBrainz data not found if more than one release matching disc ID To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/banshee/+bug/798020/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 763457] Re: pyopencl falsely depends on nvidia-current
Just an addition to my comment above. If you fail to find a .deb for the ATI opencl libraries, you could always install from source, and then use the equivs or checkinstall packages to enroll your ATI SDK installation into the apt/dpkg system. In that case the above patch would potentially be more widely useful. [Bug 714904] Re: /etc/network/if-up.d/ifenslave is missing (installed under if-pre-up.d)
Jim, update or fresh install should not make a difference (except if the currently installed version would be way old (older than Hardy) which is unlikely). The main difference to look out for would be that neither installation nor upgrade print a line about preserving old configuration files. About your questions: 1. I think it works similar as it did with the kernel package, that is all bug reports mentioned to be fixed by a package in proposed are checked after about one or two weeks after uploading. If there is no feedback about the bug not being fixed or new problems being introduced the package would get moved to updates. It is a bit hard to say what to do with your experience. Was bonding not working after an upgrade because of the package or some other problem? At least fresh install worked better than before and at least a working version upgrading does not get worse (what I basically did in my tests). That hopefully is acceptable enough. 2. The most documentation is in /usr/share/doc/ifenslave-2.6/README.Debian. Though it does not explain all the details. Some of the options may have a bit more help from the bonding module itself (modinfo bonding). But at least it describes a simple setup. In that doc dir there is also an examples directory that is helpful. Note that the options apparently can use underscore or hyphen, so bond-master works the same as bond_master does. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/714904 Title: /etc/network/if-up.d/ifenslave is missing (installed under if-pre- up.d) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ifenslave-2.6/+bug/714904/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Otherwise it has an advantage: We'll be able to easily count the amount of Linux users in the world in the future ;) PS: Why is this bug only on the wishlist? [Bug 798009] Bug is not a security issue
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug.
