[Bug 808048] [NEW] unable to add accounts using Broadcast Accounts applet
Public bug reported: When trying to add Twitter and/or Facebook (I don't know about Identi.ca, as I don't have an account with that service) accounts using the Broadcast Accounts applet for Gwibber, I encounter the following problem: - After the Add button is clicked, and Authorize is clicked, I am able to successfully enter my credentials in the web page frame that appears in the window, however, after successfully authorizing, I am thrown back to the Broadcast Accounts window and the account does not appear. I was finally able to successfully add accounts after the actions performed below, however, I am unsure as to which individual action led to success. I plan on doing a fresh install of Ubuntu on another machine, so hopefully between that fresh install and using virtual machines, I can narrow things down to which specific action leads to a fix. - I closed the Broadcast Accounts applet since I was unable to add any accounts. I had originally opened this applet using the Unity launcher, just as I would open any stand-alone application. - I opened the Gwibber Social Client and accessed the Broadcast Accounts applet through the Accounts item in the Edit menu. - I attempted to Add a new account. Previously, I had been changing the color of the account label before authorizing my credentials. This time, I didn't change any of the options presented after clicking Add and straight away entered my credentials. This time, the authorization was a success and I the account showed up in the left-side menu of the Broadcast Accounts window. I then changed the color of the account label. - I was able to successfully add 3 Twitter accounts and 1 Facebook account by performing the actions above. I am unsure if changing the color was the issue, or if Gwibber Social Client needed to be opened at least once before a broadcast account could be opened, or if this was just a random glitch and I would have been able to successfully add an account after closing and re-opening the Broadcast Accounts applet. I just wanted to supply as much information as possible. I encountered this specific instance of the bug after a fresh install of Ubuntu 11 but I remember encountering it before in an earlier fresh install of 11 and after installs of previous Ubuntu versions. I can't remember what eventually led to successfully adding accounts in the past. ** Affects: gwibber (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/808048 Title: unable to add accounts using Broadcast Accounts applet To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gwibber/+bug/808048/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 498933] Re: Crash when restoring data KeyError
If it's any help, the place where my backup was located is a debian machine running samba, and I mounted it using cifs. I tried restoring older backups but with the same error. It also didn't work when i tried to restore using command-line duplicity, for obvious reasons. The laptop i backed up from was made by HP and was 3-4 years old. This probably won't help, but who knows. [Bug 808059] [NEW] update-grub is not run when kernel is installed or removed
Public bug reported: Most Xen hosters require legacy grub for PyGrub to work. I have grub package installed instead of grub-pc. I can manually run update-grub and it does the job correctly. But when new kernel is installed, or when old is removed, update-grub is not called. I lost my configured VPS after removing old kernel and forgetting to manually run update-grub. Re: [Bug 671923] Re: In XScreensaver unlock screen it is not possible to insert € sign
Try playing around with the various locale-related environment variables before launching the xscreensaver daemon. It *may* be that to make this work it's necessary for xscreensaver to call setlocale(), which it did briefly (possibly only in 5.12) but I turned that off because it screws everything up. See comment in xscreensaver.c: /* It turns out that if we do NLS stuff here, people running in Japanese locales get font craziness on the password dialog, presumably because it is displaying Japanese characters in a non-Japanese font. I don't understand how to automatically make all this crap work properly by default, so until someone sends me a better patch, just leave it off and run the daemon in English. -- jwz, 29-Sep-2010 */ #undef ENABLE_NLS #ifdef ENABLE_NLS if (!setlocale (LC_ALL, )) fprintf (stderr, locale not supported by C library\n); bindtextdomain (GETTEXT_PACKAGE, LOCALEDIR); textdomain (GETTEXT_PACKAGE); #endif /* ENABLE_NLS */ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/671923 Title: In XScreensaver unlock screen it is not possible to insert € sign To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xscreensaver/+bug/671923/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 808086] [NEW] Application menu vanishes from Unity top bar
Public bug reported: In Unity, a maximised window will have its application menu combined with the Unity top-bar. When the top-bar is hovered over, the title of the window disappears and is replaced by the application's menu, as expected. http://miscellany.chippy.ch/0007.png However, after closing the window and reopening it via the Mail icon on the top-bar, hovering over the Unity top bar will stop displaying the application menus. http://miscellany.chippy.ch/0009.png http://miscellany.chippy.ch/0006.png This means that the application menu is rendered inaccessible, meaning that the only way to access the settings menu, or to quit Quassel is via shortcuts (i.e. F7 and CTRL+Q respectively), which is a hindrance. [Bug 768714] Re: kded4 and knotify4 eats 100% cpu
Kubuntu 64bit - relatively fresh install with all current updates. htop tells me, I got between 90% and 130% CPU-load (Core i7 930) for knotify4. Mostly it keeps around 100%. It might be a coincidence, but I seem to only get that, when I have an active internet-connection (or had one previously in the currently active session). Which means, that once the bug gets triggered, deactivating the network-interfaces via network-manager does not cause the effects of the bug to go away. That's, what makes me unsure, if this is a coincidence, or not. Killing the process always works, though. Hope this helps to shrink the possibilities, where the bug might be situated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/768714 Title: kded4 and knotify4 eats 100% cpu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde4libs/+bug/768714/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
