Thanks for the report, can you reproduce it everytime? could you get a
rhythmbox log? please run rhythmbox as: rhythmbox --debug rhythmbox-
debug.txt ; reproduce the issue and attach that resulting log file to
the report, thanks in advance.

[Bug 808963] Re: Ubuntu freezes when I try to connect to a wireless network

2011-07-13 Thread Tommy_CZ
This error report resolved by blacklisting module, but it has nothing to do
with freeze-issue.
I found similar bug report in OpenSuse pages -
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=676785
But in my case, it freezes with wl and also with brcm80211 drivers.
In OpenSuse 11.4 it seems resolved. Does anyone read this bug report btw?

[Bug 145380] Re: pam_env should document per-user environment file ~/.pam_environment more clearly

2011-07-13 Thread Hendrik
In Ubuntu 11.04, .pam_environment does not use the usual KEY=VAL
format, but the pam config file format! This is unintuitive, not
documented, and not useful (I was under the impression that
.pam_environment was supposed to be _the_ place to set user-specific
environment variables now). Even worse, if you try to add something to
PATH in .pam_environment, this will reset PATH and prevent you from
logging in via GDM (it will always throw you back to the login screen
without giving any information)!

[Bug 792179] Re: package python-reportlab 2.5-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess dpkg-deb --fsys-tarfile was killed by signal (Killed)

2011-07-13 Thread Brian Murray
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure can be caused by filesystem or memory corruption.
So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. If
this does resolve your bug please set its status to Invalid. Thanks in
advance!

capplet is the short form for 'configuration applet' I don't know if it

2011-07-13 Thread Steve Beattie
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 713950] Re: Improvement for zh-tw fontconfig settings of language-selector

2011-07-13 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
69-language-selector-zh-tw.conf has been changed as suggested, and
judging from the bug summary, which only mentions zh-tw, this bug is now
fixed. However, in comments #1 and #8 also 69-language-selector-zh-
hk.conf and 69-language-selector-zh-mo.conf are mentioned.

Can somebody shed some light on this please? Should the files for zh-hk
and zh-mo be changed as well, and if so, exactly how? Please note that
they did not exactly equal the zh-tw file before the change.

[Bug 810111] [NEW] Support for certain Ralink RT5390 driver not included

2011-07-13 Thread patman0623
Public bug reported:

In order to get wireless access on my desktop PC, it was necessary for
me to download the driver from the manufacturer's website and several
patches from opensuse.org. I then have to compile the kernel and
recompile it every time there's a system update (e.g., the one today
from 2.6.38-8 to 2.6.38-10).

A Google search shows this is a fairly common driver, with many users
having an issue.

Needless to say, it isn't very user friendly to have to do things like a
Google search and figuring out how to type sudo modprobe rt5390sta
into the terminal. I believe that Ubuntu should support this driver.

Hat tip to Dino99 from ubuntuforums for recommending I bring the issue
here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=11043009).

[Bug 776103] Re: package open-vm-dkms 2011.03.28-387002-0ubuntu2 fails to build against 2.6.39 kernels, due to missing linux/smp_lock.h

2011-07-13 Thread Nate Muench
Now that we got a package that builds successfully, I'm going to layout
the plan.

-Later today: Update the branch to June release (including adding the new patch
attached in the comment above)
-By Sunday: Input on anything that needs to changed in the patch. Stuff that
may cause issues, and can be improved upon.
-Monday or Tuesday: Create the proposal, and commit it. As I said before, if
approved, I want the main branch updated (if possible, Oneiric's branch still
shows my work for Maverick's release)

As I said before, I plan on pushing the July and August releases (if no
major changes). The August release will (as of now) have the vmmemctl,
vmxnet3, and the vmware-toolbox (NOT vmware-toolbox-cmd) manpages
removed since those components no longer exist. The former 2 are now in
the kernel itself.

So I have an idea, how about when i push the forthcoming releases, any
issues with my patch can be fixed with that released.

[Bug 809879] Re: Canon driver Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: cndrvcups-common (= 2.20)

2011-07-13 Thread Luca Falavigna
This is not a GDebi fault, but due to lack of cndrvcups-common in any
archive managed by apt. You have to manually install cndrvcups-common
package first, but bear in mind it is not provided by Ubuntu or Debian.

[Bug 777407] Re: Xorg freeze after Natty update - NVIDIA driver

2011-07-13 Thread poet_imp
I have been experiencing this for quite some time. While I can not
reproduce it at will I can say that I am seeing some events that have a
higher probability of causing it.

- Konsole resizing. Especially if it is on the right hand monitor
- Vmware resizing. Especially when it crosses monitor boundaries (this happens
often enough that I have quit doing it)
- Less often, Konsole drag to right monitor and bumped against edge to have it
go full screen

Envronment:

Byzanz is not dead for me, in fact I am very dependent on it.

I installed byzanz (package byzanz) and I can't choose the applet when I
select Add to panel in the GNOME panels.

I am using Ubuntu 10.10 64-bits.

It worked just fine for me on Linux Mint 11.
