[Bug 477978] Re: AT SPI Registry Wrapper not responding when I try to shut down
It might be a coincidence. Ënvironment is 11.04, fully updated. Every occasion when I do start indicator-datetime-preference (setting systems time / date) this application hangs (see bug report # 751175). When indicator-datetime-prefence hangs and I try to reboot or shutdown the system I get the error related to this bugreport. Pop-up windows is shown with message that an application is still runnning (I do assume indicator-datetime-preferences) AT SPI REGISTRY. Whenever I killed the indicator-datetime-preferences process not only the application runs fine when retried to execute, but also the AT SPI REGISTRY error doesn't appear and reboot/shutdown goes fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/477978 Title: AT SPI Registry Wrapper not responding when I try to shut down To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/at-spi/+bug/477978/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 819661] [NEW] Xubuntu 11.04 windows misconfigure
Public bug reported: I installed Xubuntu 11.04. Runs fine for a few days. Then one day boot it up and windows are seriously misconfigured. By "misconfigure," I mean the border around the windows disappears. Some windows (like Firefox) peg themselves to the upper left corner. Trying to open the drop-down menus in the windows with a mouse click fails - then menus open and immediately close, making it impossible to select anything. Basically, the entire desktop becomes unusable - almost no applications work as expected. I've seen this on two separate computers now, both with Xubuntu 11.04. I found that switching to the plain XFCE4 desktop finds the same bad behavior as Xubuntu desktop. The problem occurs randomly, immediately upon user log-in. I found a way to "fix" it, but the fix is only good for maybe a few days and then it recurs. No pattern - it happens whenever it happens., and then won't go away until I apply my fix. So I installed Lubuntu desktop and am using that for now. The problem doesn't recur if I stick with Xubuntu, but if one day I switch back to Xubuntu, then it will happen again eventually. My fix is a lousy one. I've got to log in as another user, open a terminal, su to root. Then cd to my home directory and delete all hidden files and directories. For example, if you are user "john" then log in as somebody else, open an xterm and do this: su cd /home/john rm -fr .[a-zA-Z0-9]* I can then log out, log back in as user john. Now my desktop works fine. Of course, I've blown away all my configuration files (Firefox bookmarks and extensions, for example). So I've gotten in the habit of saving my bookmarks file. I haven't been able yet to narrow the problem down to a specific configuration file. I tried just deleting ~.config but that didn't solve the problem. It's probably just one broken file, but I don't know which one. This launchpad bug reporting software only allows me to add one file attachment, but I wanted to send you three. So I uploaded the three screenshots to my own web site and have included the links below. Please view these. [Bug 819532] Re: Please sync gnote 0.7.5-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
Gnote 0.7.5 is for the most part just a minor bugfix release with no major changes (see http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/gnote/0.7/gnote-0.7.5.news), so it should be safe to sync. I'm not sure if this particular release fixes any of the existing bugs filed against gnote, but at the very least, I can confirm that the current version of gnote in Oneiric (0.7.4) fixes LP #510008. [Bug 709245] Re: panda: USB disk IO slow
Maybe the 1ms threshold thing is just to do with a threshold heuristic where it stops using the scheduler and sleeping and instead spins udelay() style, hence the 100% CPU. That's not to write off its effect on the bug just a possible explanation of why it cares about 1ms or less. Reading these new findings yesterday and today I wonder if it's somehow related to when the ehci stuff schedules the URB. Like if the CPU is totally up it can pack USB transactions to go out immediately, but somehow when "idle", although what exactly is in what kind of idle is unclear, it bumps it to the next frame or so. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/709245 Title: panda: USB disk IO slow To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linaro-ubuntu/+bug/709245/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 815306] Re: Banshee sees iPod nano as read-only
Giving it a try with Windows + iTunes, it apeared that there was a problem with the iPod's filesystem. Windows fixed it and I was able to read and write on the iPod using iTunes. [Bug 651104] Re: intel graphics turbo disabled
This is still a persistent problem with me on my Dell E6510 with i5 processor. Unlike some, I still had the problem after upgrading to natty. In an effort to fix it I upgraded to a version of the 2.6.39.3 kernel compiled with corei7 as native which some people said fixed the problem. It didn't work for me. OK - I reason. If the problem is modules loading out of order, then lets get rid of the whole module loading issue completely. So I compiled a 2.6.39.3 kernel with all components involved actually compiled into the kernel and not merely compiled as modules. The results are ... interesting. $ dmesg | grep intel [3.321097] intel_idle: MWAIT substates: 0x1120 [3.321099] intel_idle: v0.4 model 0x25 [3.321100] intel_idle: lapic_timer_reliable_states 0x [3.546876] ACPI: acpi_idle yielding to intel_idle [3.994957] [drm:i915_init] *ERROR* drm/i915 can't work without intel_agp module! It seems to me therefore that this problem is a little deeper than just a problem of modules loading out of order. Even when you compile everything involved into the kernel itself, it still won't work. The intel_agp module is compiled and therefore present in memory. The i915 module is compiled and therefore present in memory. And yet they STILL can't find each other. Are we perhaps looking at something as simple as a spelling error which stops i915 from recognising intel_agp because its name is misspelled? After all if the person who coded this can manage to misspell "graphis turbo" perhaps they also misspelled more important things. Anyway I hope someone finds the information valuable. [Bug 709245] Re: panda: USB disk IO slow
When running just dd at 1MB block size, I get ~5.5MB/s. [Bug 819532] Re: Please sync gnote 0.7.5-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
Does the new upstream fix any of the bugs filed against this package on Launchpad? Since we're after DIF we generally want some justification for the sync. This is also a problem for the Khmer language (Cambodia) but Simos's suggestion fixed the problem: Specifically, 1. Type sudo gedit /etc/environment 2. Add a line GTK_IM_MODULE=xim 3.
