[Bug 815978] Re: EDID information not read
The logs you've provided don't seem to have an attempt at connecting the TV in them? Could you please try connecting your TV, set a mode on it (either 1024x768 or 800x600, it doesn't matter) and then attach the output of “dmesg” and your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file? That should help narrow down what's going wrong. [Bug 667479] Re: Firefox, GIMP unusuable slow by root running kubuntu
Same issue occurring on Debian testing (Wheezy), libcanberra-pulse 0.28-1 (e.g. while using iceweasel 3.6.18-1), menus take >> 5 seconds to open (on an Athlon XP). Since it appeared to be quite difficult to gather reference information about this phenomenon, let me add these keywords: iceweasel menu stall delay lockup timeout slow futex ETIMEDOUT mouse strace socket(): Address family not supported by protocol (some of those messages/keywords likely are not related, but they may occur nearby, e.g. in strace logs, and thus are the ones that affected people will search for) Uninstalling, restarting iceweasel makes menus work, reinstalling, restarting iceweasel makes it stall again --> clearly an issue that occurs when having libcanberra-pulse in the browser address space. Note that on Debian here, it is NOT just root that is affected, several tested user accounts had issues. IMNSHO this is a very annoying kind of a usability issue in a widely used variant (iceweasel) of a very frequently used application type (browser), thus it would be nice if it could get elevated (well, in case of further documented damage for many other users, that is, which would indicate higher priority). At least the usability loss is so severe that the only way out is to simply (and, well, fatally) uninstall libcanberra-pulse and regain some tiny shreds (the bug isn't fixed yet...) of peace of mind. [Bug 820117] Re: Rename ffmpeg package to libav
Do you think fixing the homepage field warrants a stable release update? I don't think so, as this issue seems rather cosmetic to me. Please reopen this issue if you disagree. As for the binary package 'ffmpeg', well, the package name is unchanged because: - it still installs the main binary into /usr/bin/ffmpeg - a lot of other packages declare a dependency on the package 'ffmpeg'. The next major libav release will bring a new binary that also has a changed command line interface. [Bug 820189] [NEW] GNOME notification daemon started if GNOME app is started before plasma
Public bug reported: This is a bit hard to explain so bear with me. I use Pidgin for IM and since I have the "restore previous session" option enabled (I think it is default) it usually gets started on login. If Pidgin is started at login I get the old ugly GNOME notifications (yellow ugly box) plus the regular KDE notifications. If Pidgin is not started at login, but after everything has loaded up then I only get the KDE notifications. I've noticed that when Pidgin is started at login and I get the GNOME notifications, there is a notification-daemon process as well as knotify4. If Pidgin is started after login I only see a knotify4 process. ** Affects: kde-workspace (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/820189 Title: GNOME notification daemon started if GNOME app is started before plasma To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-workspace/+bug/820189/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 820188] [NEW] Severe system freeze due to akonadi shortly after login (not just GPU lockup, but whole enchilada)
Public bug reported: I noticed a very severe freeze that began recently. I had done a couple of things simultaneously, so it took a bit of work to triangulate akonadi as the culprit. My user account was only usable if I logged into the console due to the freeze, and it was not a GPU lockup that I know of, because I could not ssh into the machine from the network. The freeze is the whole system, all work is lost if it was not saved. I was able to fix the problem by renaming ~/.config/akonadi to something else then logout/login. Perhaps the akonadi database had become corrupted in some way that caused the machine to lock up. It is interesting because I have not used any software that connects or uses akonadi on this particular machine. I have saved the offending .config/akonadi directory and can make a tar file of it if a developer wants it to test what is happening. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Use the corrupted config that is attached to this bug report. Actual Results: Severe freeze of the whole system, not just X. Expected Results: No freeze I have attached the offending config file. Versions: Kubuntu: 11.04 akonadi: 1.6.0 ** Affects: akonadi Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: akonadi (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/820188 Title: Severe system freeze due to akonadi shortly after login (not just GPU lockup, but whole enchilada) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/akonadi/+bug/820188/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 820183] [NEW] network management notifications should be off by default
Public bug reported: Since the network management plasmoid has very good graphics for showing the status of the network it seems a bit overkill to have notifications for network management. Currently the only notification for network management that is enabled by default is "The network management subsystem was stopped or restarted" which doesn't seem like something most users would want as a notification. I get this notification when resuming from suspend/hibernation. ** Affects: kubuntu-default-settings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/820183 Title: network management notifications should be off by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-default-settings/+bug/820183/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 715604] Re: FM took 10 min to mv 1.0 GB, contention on drive
I've worked in technical support for Sun Microsystems for 7 years supporting manual section 1 commands and shell programming and later compiler escalated bugs, so just telling me to upgrade to the next OS release and then killing the bug after two months is just kicking the can down the road. Unless you can tell me that there was a code change with addresses the symptoms I described, i.e. the same code was ported to Ubuntu 11.4, I hardly regard the bug as fixed. You could reply that nautilus is not supported under the next OS, even though because I don't have a true 3D graphics card and so can't run unity, I get Gnome if I try to run from a live DVD image, So, in that case the problem still exists in the next release as long as I run nautalis there, so unless there was a code fix that touched the Gnome Virtual Filesystem, i can't see how this has been fixed or that somehow nautalis is not supported. Forward the bug against the next release, then. I don't believe it as fixed.
