[Bug 785353] Re: Dash should have list of categories instead of menu

2011-08-30 Thread Robert Roth
Can this be set to Fix Released? A fix for this has been released, see a
screenshot of the current dash in Oneiric at
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/183140/unity.png, taken from OMGUbuntu,
http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2011/08/ubuntu-11-10-development-update-9/, and this
does have category buttons.

[Bug 837851] [NEW] "Color" tool in GNOME System Settings only recognizes my webcam as color-manageable device

2011-08-30 Thread Till Kamppeter
Public bug reported:

When I open the GNOME System Settings and click on "Color", I am
supposed to get the list of color-manageable (via colord) devices. As
the only device I get my webcam there, not the screen, no printers, ...
Seems to be a problem of colord not recognizing the devices or of GNOME
System Settings not polling the info correctly from colord.

[Bug 837846] [NEW] Segmentation fault in OpenJDK 6 JRE running Eclipse with FDT plugin

2011-08-30 Thread Maciek
Public bug reported:

When running Eclipse with the FDT plugin ( http://fdt.powerflasher.com/
), I see intermittent segmentation faults. Unfortunately, I can't see
any patterns in the various crashes. This happens every couple of weeks,
and there is no obvious patterns (though it typically happens when I'm
trying to do something in the UI while another update is still in
progress).

I don't know if the attached log is useful by itself, but since this is
a JVM crash, I thought I would submit an issue.

[Bug 461211] Re: Tiny screen with xrandr monitor switch

2011-08-30 Thread mback
I don't think this should have been put into expired state. It's still
an issue that xrandr & display settings is really finicky with compiz &
fglrx. I just crashed my box a little while ago and was fiddling with
this again -- with not perfect success... I had to look back at this
bug report to get my magick xrandr juju back (hope it still works in
natty -- will try tomorrow).

[Bug 837844] [NEW] no content in the categories of unity lense

2011-08-30 Thread funicorn
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu Oneiric. Click on the unity button, all the four buttons in
the top row, i.e., multimedia, internet, more app and search files, are grey.
Clicking on these buttons gives nothing and the unity lenses exit itself, which
indicates there is no content in these categories. But I have installed a lot
of softwares and there should be something in each category.

2011-08-30 Thread Robert Roth
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a
"regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this
bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries
nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other
bugs you may find.

[Bug 713295] Re: shotwell crashed with SIGSEGV in data_source_get_typename()

2011-08-30 Thread Adam Dingle
Mark,

what versions of Shotwell and Ubuntu are you using? Are you seeing the
same crash others have reported here (SIGSEGV in
data_source_get_typename)?

[Bug 516123] Re: xvfb does not support randr

2011-08-30 Thread Mugendai
This issue seems to have come back in Natty.

I see a slightly different error message than I have seen most people
report(in regards to previous versions)

"RandR extension missing"

Trying to get this working in regards to a Minecraft map generator, which has a
decent wiki page.
Wiki page shows it worked on Maverick and Lucid, and then stopped working in
Natty.

So far as I saw, the upstream bug was never fixed. Perhaps a merge to
upstream reverted this?

Please let me know if there is something I can do to provide more useful
details, but the basic thing I am doing here is:

xvfb-run -a xrandr

and simply receive the before mentioned error message.

[Bug 822071] Re: no arrows appear on scrollbar when mouse cursor is on it.

2011-08-30 Thread Kyle Kalstabakken
The scrollbar that you see in Firefox is the same that you should see in
most 3rd party applications.

The behavior you describe where the two arrow buttons appear is
something that I only see in Ubuntu specific things, like the file
manager and the control center. This is simply a design feature that
isn't included in every app.

[Bug 833397] Re: indicator power displayed twice on panel

2011-08-30 Thread Martin Pitt
I updated the seeds to remove gnome-power-manager, as the functionality
moved into gnome-settings-daemon. However, it is just an unnecessary
dependency at this point, and otherwise harmless. The package only
contains /usr/sbin/gnome-power-backlight-helper (which is unused now),
and /usr/bin/gnome-power-statistics (which we don't strictly need).
Also, the indicator patch was dropped.

Thus the existence of gnome-power-manager can't be responsible for
showing two power indicators. Therefore I set the ubuntu-meta task as
fix committed, as unseeding it is as much as we can do for dropping it
from a clean installation. For cleaning up on upgrade we'd need to add a
Conflicts: somewhere, we can't do that in ubuntu-meta. But the package
is rather harmless, and once it moves to universe, update-manager will
propose to clean it up anyway.

[Bug 807636] Re: ubiquity doesn't show console when clicking in detailed view

2011-08-30 Thread Joaquín Ignacio Aramendía
Well now the console appears but is too small to show messages. Of
course you can scroll it to view them but is not really helpful, isn't
it? It should be at least 2+ lines larger or the newline attached to
every echo will cover the message.

Thanks for replying to this "insignificant" bug anyway (:

I think patch is what you need (maybe the last chunk only):

[Bug 833952] Re: "Ask me everytime" cookie dialogs pile up and can't be clicked

2011-08-30 Thread Kyle Kalstabakken
** Description changed:

+ Steps to reproduce:
+ 1. Open Firefox with a new profile
+ 2. Set cookies to 'Keep until: "ask me every time"
+ 3. Go to http://community.htc.com
+ 4. Click "Deny" for each request that pops up. Go slow enough that you can
see if multiple dialogue boxes pile up.
+ 5. The boxes don't always appear in the same location. When you can see part
of a dialogue box behind your current one without dragging it away, click on it.
+ 6. Continue clicking "Deny" in the boxes that are presented to you.
+
+ Expected result:
+ Each cookie is denied in turn.
+
+ Actual result:
+ At some point, you reach a dialogue box where it will not respond. You then
need to go back to the one that you skipped (in step 5) and deny that request
before you can move on. This can be difficult to find if a lot of requests
build up.
+
+ This seems pretty contrived, but when you are quickly trying to click
+ through a lot of requests, it can happen unintentionally and without
+ notice.
+
+ It might not happen every single time - the changing display location of
+ the boxes seems (to me) to be random, so sometimes you might just get
+ "lucky" and not run into any issues. On this particular site
+ (community.htc.com), the cookie requests seem to be infinite if you
+ don't click "Use my choice for all cookies from this site", so you have
+ plenty of chances to see the problem.
+
+
+ Original report:
+
If I have the cookies setting "ask me everytime"
(Edit->Preferences->Privacy->Accept cookies from sites->Keep until: ask
me every time) and I go to a site that sets a bunch of cookies the
dialogs to accept/reject the cookies pile up quickly. This in and of
itself is a bug as most of the time each dialog asks the exact same
question. But the bigger problem is that these dialog boxes must be
clicked on *in a particular order* and they get out of order. So I'm
stuck with maybe 30 dialog boxes that are all piled up on each other. I
have to move them around in order to find the correct one to click on
and most of the time give up and kill the browser - which has to be done
from the command line since the window kill button must be disabled
  because of the dialog boxes.
