[Bug 540042] Re: Freeserif Arabic version is broken
Hi, Last night I committed a change to FreeFont CVS that might be toward your problem #1. See: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ttf-freefont/+bug/730770 I looked at your picture. In order to use it, I really need the Unicode text by which it was generated. By the way, FreeSans has no Arabic range. You are seeing glyphs stolen from some other font in the picture. As you must be aware, there are technical problems in merging Latin text with Arabic. Besides the weight of the letters, Arabic letters tend to go much farther above and below the baseline than Latin letters. I am not personally satisfied with the Arabic range in FreeSerif in that respect. I'm sure there's a solution, but I lack the language and artistic skills to do anything about it personally. I was in contact with somebody who did some work in this regard, but the effort seems to have stalled. (But of course, since I got no bug reports, I assumed that I was the only one who notice the problems.) As to the style of the Arabic range in itself, I can be no judge. But if you don't like one font face, there is always another... That's the beauty of it! If you want to take this farther, please open a report on the FreeFont site as I recommended. Exact same problem on an Asus Eee PC 1000HA. Instead of dimming further (or to the same minimum level), it will actually brighten to about a 25-30% setting. It would be expected that the "Dim on Idle" dim in relation to the current brightness level, rather than to a set level. [Bug 267913] Re: hda-intel: IRQ timing workaround is activated for card #0. Suggest a bigger bdl_pos_adj
I should also note that I'm using Nvidia drivers 180.13 with a GeForce 9800 GTX, or GTX 560 Ti (when the latter is working--in process of RMA). Some previous posters have mentioned a possible link to the video card and its drivers. I'm currently doing a badblocks on my Linux drive, but in Disk Utility, there's something I thought I should mention, which I don't entirely understand: 5. Reallocation Sector Count: Good - Normalized: 200; Worst: 200; Threshold: 140; Value: 0 sectors. Does this mean that no sectors currently in use are bad, but 200 have been reallocated; or that the 200 number is some kind of setting for when to worry, and there have been no such incidents? I don't know whether this could relate to this bug, but if it does, it would be good to know what I'm looking at. [Bug 839303] [NEW] tsconf is not Multi-Arch compatible
Public bug reported: I ran into this bug when trying to install 32-bit directfb using multiarch on amd64. The install fails to find a candidate because tsconf is arch:all, not arch:i386. For some reason libts-0.0-0:i386 seems to depend on tsconf:i386 which makes nore sense. This package consists of one configuration file which has jitter in touchscreens. It is classified as "arch:all" because there is nothing here that depends on a particular architecture. [Bug 761578] Re: handle reaching inotify max watches better
Hi guys just to let you know I've experienced problems with running "less" command because of inotify limit which was 8192 on my machine It was hard to diagnose as a message I got from "less" was very misleading like tail: cannot watch `catalina.out': No space left on device there was plenty of space and the real reason was inotify watchers had been eaten by ubuntuone ;-) This can affect many users and a lot of others applications i so dropbox is displaying a message to the user when inotify limit is reached I think you should do the same to let the users know what is going on to avoid unnecessary frustration and save their time Thanks for making ubuntuone Szymon -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/761578 Title: handle reaching inotify max watches better To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntuone-client/+bug/761578/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 760131] Re: Power consumption raised significantly in natty
Even if that were so, when my laptop goes into battery mode, with all of the aggressive power saving modes throttling the CPU, etc, it's unacceptable for it to be running so hot. I wouldn't normally care if it's plugged in and sucking up power, but when the power is supposed to be scaled back, it shouldn't be taking up more power ( even at the cost of decreased responsiveness.) In any case, as of yesterday, after a kernel update, my laptop is now consuming 14-17W of power when on battery, as opposed to the 19-25W it was taking last week. While not as good as the 11-14W range I had going with Maverick, it's an improvement. I don't recall seeing anything in the kernel changelog that would indicate a change to the power consumption, but I'm not a kernel expert. In any case, I have not altered any of my power saving optimizations between the two tests, and I had used the force acpi trick much earlier on. If it stays this way for now, that's not a bad sign. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/760131 Title: Power consumption raised significantly in natty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-release-notes/+bug/760131/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: output of lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu oneiric (development branch) Release:11.10 Package: gnome-settings-daemon: Installed: 3.1.90-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 3.1.90-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 3.1.90-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Expected result: At the login screen, brightness keys increase and decrease brightness by one step. After logging in, brightness keys continue to increase and decrease brightness by one step. Actual result: At the login screen, brightness keys increase and decrease brightness by one step (same as expected, OK.) After logging in, brightness increases and decreases by two steps whenever a brightness key is pressed. This specifically seems to apply to the POWER plugin for gnome-settings-daemon. setting "active" to false via "gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power active false" returns the behavior to normal, but removes the gnome power indicator. However, since the battery indicator is present at the login screen, there must be a second application, hotkey, etc, trying to change brightness. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/839281 Title: Double brightness events after logging in. [Bug 834358] Re: Changing provider on search bar in Firefox causes 404 Error on Ubuntu default homepage
I believe the problem is in aboutStartpage.js I'm not sure what the intended functionality is here, but I feel like the start page should be using the default search provider instead of the one currently selected in the search bar. If this is true, I believe it would be fixed by replacing nsIBrowserSearchService.currentengine with nsIBrowserSearchService.defaultengine To prevent the 404 errors, a switch statement around the uri definition would allow access to the pages we know are available at start.ubuntu.com, and the default would just be Google... I'll make a patch sometime when I get around to figuring out how that works here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/834358 Title: Changing provider on search bar in Firefox causes 404 Error on Ubuntu default homepage To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubufox/+bug/834358/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
