[Bug 849967] Re: [Lenovo Y300] Microphone is unable to record any audio

2011-09-14 Thread Rigved Rakshit
I have tried that too as it was mentioned in the askubuntu answers. I
have even tried to mute one of the capture Front Left/Right and tried to
keep the other at maximum. I am still unable to record any audio.

If the problem is with the values, is there some way to force alsa and
pulseaudio to recheck them again. Like when alsa/pulseaudio are
installed for the first time, they make some checks to adjust the values
based on input from the audio driver. Is it possible to redo these
steps?

I cannot un-install and then re-install pulseaudio/alsa as there are
many applications that depend on it.

[Bug 846572] Re: gnome-language-selector crashed with DBusException in call_blocking(): org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: Method "SetLanguage" with signature "s" on interface "org.freedesktop.

2011-09-14 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Thanks for your effort to improve Ubuntu by reporting this issue! I have
a couple of questions:

1. From Traceback.txt it looks like the crash happened when you tried to
set a new user language via Language Support. Could that possibly be the
case?

2. Are you able to reproduce the crash, or was it a one-time thing?

[Bug 850651] [NEW] Keyring forgot LUKS passphrase

2011-09-14 Thread Christophe
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have an encrypted volume using LUKS on a iscsi device. When my
notebook was returning from standby mode, I couldn't access it anymore.
I restarted open-iscsi, but there was still a device which I removed
with dmsetup. I still couldn't mount the volume (the passphrase is
usually in my login keying) so I restarted my notebook. I couldn't login
afterwards, so I checked the keyring and the passphrase was gone.

The keyring must not under any circumstances forget one of my
passphrases. Otherwise I have to keep all passphrases in a separate file
which shouldn't be necessary. I luckily did.

[Bug 850638] [NEW] DuplicityInstance.vala:552: duplicity exited with value 1

2011-09-14 Thread Rigved Rakshit
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS
Release:10.04
deja-dup:
  Installed: 14.2-0ubuntu0.1
  Candidate: 14.2-0ubuntu0.1
  Version table:
 *** 14.2-0ubuntu0.1 0
500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-updates/universe Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 14.0.3-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/universe Packages
duplicity:
  Installed: 0.6.08b-0ubuntu2
  Candidate: 0.6.08b-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 0.6.08b-0ubuntu2 0
500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/universe Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
Expected Outcome: deja-dup should have continued with the remaining part of the
earlier backup. (I had clicked on "Resume Later" when an earlier backup was
going on.)
Actual Outcome: When I run deja-dup Backup or Restore, I get the message:
"deja-dup exited with unknown error". So, I ran it from the terminal and this
is the output that I got:

[Bug 760814] Re: Compiz Very Slow and Choppy in Natty Classic

2011-09-14 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I think it's safe to say that comment #13 is not relevant to this bug
report. This bug is about constantly poor framerates, not degrading
performance over time like comment #13.

Misplaced comments are a common problem in graphics bug reports. I've
made the same mistake in the past. But we have to be careful to focus on
the bug described in the Description of the original bug report.

[Bug 829491] Re: indicator-applet version 0.4.12-0ubuntu1 failed to build in oneiric

2011-09-14 Thread Tobias Wolf
Come on, man. You can’t be serious.

There are many people who are neither ready for Gnome Shell nor Unity yet.
Why can’t I get keep my trusted setup and still get the benefit of the updated
apps?

This whole indicator thing took so much development effort to get right,
to integrate into gnome-panel. It finally worked properly.

Just throwing it out now is way to early, IMO. I’m really miffed by
this. In particular Ted Gould dropping the ball.

[Bug 763005] Re: Compiz's "Sync to Vblank" makes display stutter/slow with some drivers (like fglrx)

2011-09-14 Thread Daniel van Vugt
OK, I have proposed a new version of the fix that will work upstream
without any changes to header files. So should be good to go in compiz
0.9.5 and oneiric.

But I still think the first version was API-safe too :)

[Bug 850626] [NEW] Connected to home wifi, but can't transfer data

2011-09-14 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
Public bug reported:

It might happend that even if the wifi is correctly connected to my home
router, it can't transfer any data, either to/from internet, but also
to/from the router or other devices connected to the home network.

Usually a workaroud is to disable wireless from the network-manager
menu, and re-enable it, until you get a "good" connection.

In the attached logfiles I had a "bad" connection.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 838555] Re: Support complex authentication requests

2011-09-14 Thread Robert Ancell
So, I think the logic is, if Unity Greeter interprets a prompt from PAM
as a username or password entry it displays those as it does currently.
If any other prompt is detected, it uses a "continue" button, then
slides to the "complex authentication dialog" which can ask those
questions / show prompts.

[Bug 847944] Re: UIFe: Alt-Tab: Update layout behavior to make previews larger and outline active preview

Seems I misunderstood this. The screenshot is not for the "normal

additionally press Cursor down. This is already quite similar, and
outlining the current selection indeed makes sense. Sorry for the
misunderstanding!
