[Bug 855251] Re: Error in special characters in gnome-language-selector

2011-09-21 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Ok, thanks for the additional info. I'm glad you made it work, btw. :)
Hopefully you are still willing to answer the below questions.

When I said that 'pt_BR' is not a valid locale name, I meant that it
shouldn't have been a valid locale name considering that this is Ubuntu,
which by default only uses UTF-8. (I don't know if Lubuntu differs in
this respect, though.)

Anyway, it seems like you in addition to the pt_BR.UTF-8 locale also
have a locale for latin1. Can you please let us know what the 'locale
-a' command outputs? I'd guess that the lines

pt_BR
pt_BR.iso88591

are included in the list.

Did you possibly play around with locales in a way that might explain
how the latin1 locale (ISO-8859-1) is available on your computer?

[Bug 680588] Re: gcore produces core file without backtrace capability

2011-09-21 Thread Martin Pitt
This is quite an intrusive patch, maverick's gdb is not totally broken,
and maverick certainly isn't a very active development platform any
more. Given the regression potential and that this is not a serious
issue for users, I have some doubts that we should SRU this for
maverick.

[Bug 654988] Re: Unity doesn't mirror its interface for RTL locales.

2011-09-21 Thread Martin Pitt
We discussed that in #u-desktop. For Oneiric we should ship the feature
in the distro, but disable it by default. Then we can send a call for
testing and document how to turn it on, so that interested people can
test/use it.

For P we should turn it on early, and also get this fixed in 3D, so that
the two are consistent.

not seem to produce a crash anymore. For some further information

[Bug 831488] Re: Xubuntu should not call gnome-control-center

2011-09-21 Thread Martin Pitt
So what should we do here? We could hide the "Settings.." menu entry if
control-center is not available, that should even be upstreamable. I'm
just not sure how far you can get without the capplet, i. e. whether you
can even pair.

The alternative is that the Xubuntu team uses a different bluetooth
configuration tool, perhaps blueman or an earlier version of gnome-bt
packaged separately?

[Bug 842745] Re: Stacked Monitors: missing screen area when lower (low res) monitor is centered under high-res monitor

2011-09-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Partly confirmed. I can't reproduce the misplaced indicators, but the
launcher will fail to display if it's set to autohide. You need to push
the mouse all the way to the virtual left hand side of the largest
monitor (still on the small one) before the launcher appears on the
small monitor.

WORKAROUND: Configure the Launcher to never hide in CompizConfig
Settings Manager.

Just noticed that's related to the IP address I entered. I manually
configured the address to 192.168.111.199. The 192 got used for
hostname (see Bug 856088) and this is ~the rest of it.

[Bug 856092] [NEW] 11.10 beta1 alternate install broken dependency libsasl2-modules xserver-xorg-video-ati

2011-09-21 Thread Ben
Public bug reported:

The select software section of the installation process failes because
the libsasl2-modules and xserver-xorg-ideo-ati packages are "not
installable" causing libpurple and x-server-xorg-video to not be
installable and subsequently ubuntu-desktop. The workaround is to boot
the minimal install, configure apt sources and install from the network.
