[Bug 855085] Re: Add libapt* to the striptranslations blacklist

2011-09-21 Thread Martin Pitt
Why do we need to do this? Blacklisting would mean that apt packages
will ship all *.po files right in the .deb, as opposed to through
langpacks. This will stop us being able to deliver updated
translations, and we'd install unnecessary translations, too.

[Bug 814598] Re: Launcher - Unity launcher shows windows in the order they were minimized. It should be the reverse.

2011-09-21 Thread Franck
Another use case...

1) open thunderbird
2) create a new message
3) switch to firefox
4) click on thunderbird icon in the launcher to come back to thunderbird

Result:
- thunderbird main window appears. You have to click again in the icon in
launcher to get the choice between the two windows, then double click on new
message window, to be able to go on with your ongoing work in thunderbird...

Expected result:
- the last active window in the thunderbird group is shown, that is the message
you're currently editing.

In fact this in not directly related to minimizing or not, so I'll edit
the bug title...

** Summary changed:

- Launcher - Unity launcher shows windows in the order they were minimized. It
should be the reverse.
+ Launcher - Unity launcher should show the last active window of a group on
top when the group icon is clicked.

I digged a little bit further into the issue. If I use a root partition
with only 2000G (which gets used in a software raid-1) the grub
installation works perfectly. It seems there is a problem when using
high partition sizes. The filesystem is ext3.

[Bug 764931] Re: desktop couch service changes to zombieprocess

2011-09-21 Thread i1abnrk
I have this problem, too. Essentially I have two instances of couchdb running.
One is a zombie called 'desktop-couch-se' that is zombie in 'do_exit()', the
other is called 'desktop-couch-service' in do_wait() that is fine' couchdb
itself has two instances as well, one is in 'do_wait()' the other is in
'pipe_wait()'. Also, when the thread becomes zombie my desktop wallpaper and
fonts become garbled and CPU gets laggy (like a memory leak). I am using the rt
overclock option for pulseaudio that can be installed with jackaudio and this
problem started for me with Ubuntu 11.04.

[Bug 460743] Re: [LucidKarmic] Cambridge Silicon Radio, Bluetooth Dongles do not work

2011-09-21 Thread Dennis R
I'm fighting the same issues with the same dongle. Mine looks exactly
like the Sabrent unit, except the Sabrent name is missing.
http://www.sabrent.com/category/wireless/BT-USBT/

lapdog ~ # lsusb
Bus 002 Device 009: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle
(HCI mode)

lapdog ~ # uname -a
Linux lapdog 2.6.35-22-generic #35-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 20:45:36 UTC 2010
x86_64 GNU/Linux

Here's the interesting part. If I plug the dongle into my laptop while
my Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse is trying to associate, I can pair with the
mouse, and everything works OK. But if I reboot, move the dongle, etc.,
then things don't work any more until I put the mouse back in pairing
mode, plug in the dongle, and re-associate them. When the Linux
bluetooth stack is loading after the dongle goes in, apparently the
hey, this device is trying to associate message causes the software
not to use the code that causes the error.

It's quite disappointing that all over the web, people report these
issues, the hardware works fine in that other OS, but 3 years later we
have no fix for LInux.

Examining your VarLogDistupgradeApttermlog.gz, it notice the following

/etc/default/grub: 11: splash: not found
run-parts: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/zz-update-grub exited with return code 127

Have you modified your /etc/default/grub file? This looks like the same
issue at bug 575834 (ie you've incorrectly edited your grub file).
Regardless, this does not appear to be a kernel issue. Thus I'm marking
the linux kernel task as Invalid. Thanks.

[Bug 799202] Re: wacom stylus jumps with latest xserver-xorg-core

2011-09-21 Thread Jussi Pakkanen
The Krita code that deals with tablet events seems to be this in
kis_canvas_controller.cpp:

-

void KisCanvasController::Private::emitPointerPositionChangedSignals(QEvent
*event)
{
if (!coordinatesConverter) return;
QPoint pointerPos;
QMouseEvent *mouseEvent = dynamic_castQMouseEvent*(event);
if (mouseEvent) {
pointerPos = mouseEvent-pos();
} else {
QTabletEvent *tabletEvent = dynamic_castQTabletEvent*(event);
if (tabletEvent) {
pointerPos = tabletEvent-pos();
}
}

The obvious failure point being that if the argument is neither a mouse
nor a tablet event, then pointerPos is uninitialized. I did not have
time to check yet whether the bug is caused by this or something else
entirely.

[Bug 832830] Re: qemu-linaro version 0.14.50-2011.06-0-0ubuntu1 failed to build in oneiric

2011-09-21 Thread Dr. David Alan Gilbert
I can confirm that 0.14.50-2011.06-0-0ubuntu1 gets further with that
patch; it does trip over a lot of set-but-not-used warnings converted
into errors that I had to comment out to get it to build in random other
bits of the code - some of which do look like real bugs.

The easiest thing would seem to be to pull it up to 0.15.50-2011.08

[Bug 854938] Re: Router WBR-1310 Crashes

2011-09-21 Thread dlalonde
Oh alright then, thank you.

I guess I'll wait until my router needs to be replaced before using
Ubuntu. I was hoping for this bug to be resolved but if it's nothing on
Ubuntu's part then there's nothing they can do! :)

Since my router isn't guaranteed anymore, they want me to pay for
support. So it's back to Windows for now! :(

[Bug 855630] [NEW] Qemu cant find SDL if --static build

2011-09-21 Thread Justin Shafer
Public bug reported:

when trying to build qemu I can build with ./configure --static
--enable-sdl --target-list=i386-linux-user just fine with 0.12.5

But when I try to go on 0.13.0 or higher (tested on 0.15.0) it will say
it cant find libSDL.

Tried with arm and x86 versions of Ubuntu 9.10 and 11.04. Same on all 4
tests.

I found I could run posix wine on 12.5 but I cant go higher for posix
wine because of that libSDL.

[Bug 855635] [NEW] [regression] Dkms quits with error if directory contains build, kernel etc

2011-09-21 Thread David Henningsson
Public bug reported:

In the Oneiric version of dkms, you cannot run this command:

/usr/sbin/dkms mkdeb --source-only --no-prepare-kernel --no-clean-kernel
--dkmstree /tmp/dkms-packaging/buildroot/build --sourcetree /tmp/dkms-
packaging/buildroot/src --installtree /tmp/dkms-
packaging/buildroot/install -m alsa-hda -v 0.1

This is because the tree path matches build. Looking at the code,
this seems to be added intentionally, but to me it is clearly a
regression and I see no reason for putting such restrictions on the
code.

E g, if my name was Harp Mason I can't even build anything in my home
directory /home/harpmason, because that contains the string rpm. That
does not make sense to me.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10

[Bug 855473] Re: File list not updated in dolphin

2011-09-21 Thread Christian Schürer-Waldheim
šumski, it does not happen all the time, but quite often so that it is
annoying. I found the b.k.o bug, which you linked, too, but as this
should be solved since 4.3.5, I'm not quite sure if this is the same
cause.

[Bug 749603] Re: number of reviews label is clipped

2011-09-21 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
I have occasionally seen this bug in the GTK2 UI. But I tried just now,
in trunk r2404, with both the Ubuntu font and other fonts at 12 and
several other sizes. The list view updated flawlessly each time, with no
clipped text.

So, I'm assuming this has been fixed by the GTK3 UI. If you still see
the problem, please reopen this report. Thanks.

[Bug 855568] Re: JPG files open in gwibber after upgrading to Oneiric

2011-09-21 Thread Camille Appert
Ok this actually happens system-wide, not only in firefox.

I thought firefox used a separate open with-list like before.

Re-affecting to gwibber.

** Package changed: firefox (Ubuntu) = gwibber (Ubuntu)

- I upgraded to Oneiric today, after that all JPG files I open from the
- Download Manager launch gwibber.
+ I upgraded to Oneiric today, after that all JPG files I open launch

  This seems to happen only with JPG files as GIF and PNG images open fine
  in Image Viewer (eog)
+
+ How did gwibber got assigned as the default opener of jpeg files ?

[Bug 750466] Re: no me deja instalar algunas aplicaciones y dice que tengo que actualizar

2011-09-21 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
(Google translation of the bug report: do not let me download some
applications and also says I have to update and do not let me but
neither is in the install that software center)

masterhack81, sorry, but this report doesn't contain nearly enough information
for us to be able to fix any problem. If you still experience the problem, you
could help get it fixed by providing the error message:
1. close Ubuntu Software Center, if it's open already
2. enter the command software-center in a Terminal window
3. trigger the error
4. copy any error output from the Terminal window, and paste it into this bug
report.

Thanks.
