[Bug 835304] Re: contained fontconfig setting files force to make it default font

2011-10-14 Thread Jinkyu Yi
Scott Moser,

Thank you for report it to upstream.
But in my opinion, this can be not bug to debian.
Ubuntu use language-selector and it link fontconfig files - not in debian - to
set default font.
The problem is these settings are duplicate to fontconfig files
language-selector use.
It looks like this is bug to ubntu, but just workaround at debian.
How about modify ttf-nanum for only in ubuntu and wait for upstream fontconfig
settings ready in debian?
I think there's no needed to patch ttf-nanum in debian for now.

After I create a bzr branch and commit, I can't find any link for "propose for
merging" at lp:ubuntu/ttf-nanum page and that's why I only attach debdiff file.
I am wondering some packages need higher permission for proposing.

[Bug 874829] [NEW] Permission problems when booting

2011-10-14 Thread Johan Palmqvist
Public bug reported:

After upgrade from natty or reinstall from scratch to oneiric mandos-
client abruptly stopped working and doesn't manage to talk to the server
side. While still on natty mandos-client managed to unlock the dmcrypt
root partition and boot the system.

Version: mandos-client 1.3.0-1ubuntu1

This is the debug output:
"Begin: Running /scripts/local-top ... /lib/mandos/plugin-runner: Could not
open plugin dir: Permission denied
Going to fallback mode using getpass(3)
Password: "

If I add ",go=rx" to the mode parameter where "${DESTDIR}${PLUGINDIR}"
is created in /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/mandos it gets further.
It still doesn't work though since after working around the plugin dir
permissions problem the PGP key files can't be opened (currently not
sure if this is also related to permission problems).

I would agree that if Ubuntu ships in this configuration by default,

I still can't calibrate webcam or monitor even with argyll gnome-color-

When changing monitor profiles, the color temperature does not change.

When I try to calibrate my webcam it prompts me to download

The package fails to install as it doesn't exist.
The process fails with the error: "Failed to calibrate, failed to match

2011-10-14 Thread Brad Figg
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue.

However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during
any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all.
Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request
further testing. This is such a request.

We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel
than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test
again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still
exists or not.

If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to
Confirmed. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from
Incomplete to Fix Released.

Thank you for your help, we really do appreciate it.

[Bug 874823] [NEW] Firefox won't unload

Public bug reported:

When I close firefox and try to start it again, I receive the following
message:

"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new
window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart
your system."

It didn't do this until your update mechanism installed a new Flash
Update. Now, every time I close Firefox, I have to reset my machine to
get it running again. Every time I get my machine running perfectly, you
guys have me do an update, and something screws up. As much as I hate
Microsoft, I'm just about ready to go back to Windows again.

After three years of Ubuntu, I'm right up to my neck in your updating
scheme. You guys are upgrading, or 'improving' Ubuntu right into the
dumpster. That's a shame, as you had a good thing going, but Unity has
destroyed it for me. 10.04 is as high as I am going as long as Unity
remains.

[Bug 156790] Re: firefox-bin still there when I close Firefox

2011-10-14 Thread Tom Janes
My firefox is doing the same thing now, but it didn't do it until you
forced me to get a Flash Update. Every time I get my machine running
perfectly, you guys have me do an update, and something screws up. As
much as I hate Microsoft, I'm just about ready to go back to Windows
again.

Every damn time I close firefox I have to reset my machine. All I get is
"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new
window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart
your system." I close it, the task bar clears, then the same thing
happens when I try to run firefox again.

After three years of Ubuntu, I'm right up to my neck in your updating
scheme. You guys are upgrading, or 'improving' Ubuntu right into the
dumpster. That's your choice, I guess!

According to your logs, it seems that "playonlinux" has some dependency
problems. You can try to uninstall it, try the upgrade again, and
reinstall it back if the upgrade completes.

2011-10-14 Thread franco_bez
Same story here.

Even worse when I try to open the menu using the keyboard (F10),
sometimes the keyboard and mouse gets almost functionless. You can no longer
enter Text, nor click with the mouse.
Only the ALT-PRINT-K helps.

I think its related to

Jason, thanks for the quick response.

The last line: Read from socket fialed; Connectino reset by peer

means that sshd on your desktop did something to disconnect rather
unexpectedly. It would help to see the contents of /var/log/auth.log
from your desktop, though please remove any sensitive information from
it before posting.

ilf, if you have ideas for how we can identify interfaces as non-critical
then please do suggest them. I think that deserves a new bug report
explaining exactly what you expect to have happen, as this bug report
is effectively closed. I would suggest reporting that bug against the
ifupdown package..

[Bug 855199] Re: 2.6.39 and later have lost "irqpoll" functionality

2011-10-14 Thread Edward Donovan
Ok, now I'm going through the git logs, between March 14, when 2.6.38
was released, and March 29, the date of .39-rc1. As I can get time.,
I'll pull, build, and test versions that seem to have interrupt-related
changes.

The earliest change that looked important was this, on March 16:

  Merge branch 'irq-core-for-linus'

http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=5f6fb45466b2273ffb91c9cf209f164f666c33b1

The breakage has not shown up yet; this kernel tested out fine.

There are changes in the interrupt code committed by Thomas Gleixner; a
couple on the 17th, and several on the 23rd and after. I hope to get
to these soon.

[Bug 874819] [NEW] Xorg doesn't dectect 1600x1200 resolution for VGA-1

2011-10-14 Thread Erik B. Andersen
Public bug reported:

Xorg didn't detect that my screen could do 1600x1200. I have to set it
each time I log in with "xrandr --addmode VGA-1 1600x1200" and then use
the display configuration tool to use the larger resolution.

(Hopefully apport gives you the info you need to know. I don't know what
else you need to know, but I'm willing to get more information if you
need it).

Same story here on oneirc 64bit with intel graphics.

Most of the time the indicator menus work as intended on the primary screen,
and the bug occurs on the secondary.
But, in rare cases I had the bug also on the primary screen.

Even worse when I try to open the menu using the keyboard (F10),
sometimes the keyboard and mouse gets almost functionless. You can no longer
enter Text, nor click with the mouse.
Only the ALT-PRINT-K helps.

A very nasty regression compared to natty.

[Bug 873970] Re: update from natty to oneric failed (amd64): E:Sub-process dpkg returned an error code (2)

2011-10-14 Thread progmachine
The problem is strange, i conducted a little investigation.
That happened on my work, on work computer. Now is a weekend and exact
information would be available on Monday. But the same problem seems to be on
my home notebook. Here dpkg (1.16.1~natty+1) also not know what is
foreign-architecture, and i can't find that option in man page for dpkg,
although i find with google man page on Debian for dpkg (for 1.16 version), and
that man page includes --foreign-architecture option. Ubuntu living on my work
computer without reinstalls since 9.04. I used only upgrades. On my laptop, i
don't rememder, but i installed the first ubuntu release with GRUB2, and, also
only upgrades.
I used only these repos: pitti for PostgreSQL, ondrej for Redmine, wine,
muCommander, third party developers, Canonical partners. Now i see that dpkg
was from ondrej-redmine repository.

apt-cache output on my notebook:
dpkg:
  Установлен: 1.16.1~natty+1
  Кандидат: 1.16.1~natty+1
  Таблица версий:
 *** 1.16.1~natty+1 0

I'll try to disable that repo, and reinstall dpkg.

[Bug 764330] Re: Move window annoying slow with compiz

2011-10-14 Thread Reet
Phil Doroff,
Thank you very much for your investigation to this problem. I have had this
issue since 11.04, and now with 11.10 Ubuntu. On both these versions I
installed gnome-shell and had no problems with window movement and general
animation jitters.

I've changed my mousepolling to "10" which has solved this problem.

Instructions for anyone who would like to replicate my solution:

sudo gedit /etc/modules

Append the following:
-r usbhid
usbhid mousepoll=10

Save the file and reboot. To verify that the setting is in effect, run the
following command:
cat /sys/module/usbhid/parameters/mousepoll

If the result is "10", you have succeeded. You should also now have
smooth window movement.

[Bug 874693] Re: Invalid chars 'v' at the end of expression '4mv'

2011-10-14 Thread Paul Gevers
Hmm, can't be "really":

paul@stromboli ~ $ grep 4mv /usr/share/winff/presets.xml
paul@stromboli ~ $

But I expected this bug to appear. You updated winff from a previous
version and winff unfortunately stores a copy of the above mentioned
file in ~/.winff/ the first time it runs. So the package is fixed, but
winff still uses the old file and the user has to replace (or merge in
the case of local changes) the presets.xml file in the package with the
presets.xml file in the user folder.

When no changes were made locally the procedure is simple (in a terminal
window):
mv ~/.winff/presets.xml ~/.winff/presets.xml.old

You can then start winff again. I propose to make the backup, just in
case you discover that you did make relevant changes. Of course you can
make rename that file also in you favorite file browser.

Unfortunately there is no plain method in packaging land to do such a
thing in the package, so the only other option would be to fix winff to
do that. Unfortunately, this has not been accomplished by upstream due
to complexity to do it programmatic, and due to lack of urgency. It now
hits us by an major change of ffmpeg, and has hit us long time in the
past when we didn't understand the direction of the solution yet.

** Changed in: winff (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Confirmed

** Summary changed:

- Invalid chars 'v' at the end of expression '4mv'

winff package is fixed

[Bug 843431] Re: Logitech camera microphone does not work / makes "chipmunk" sound

2011-10-14 Thread sordna
Adding patch that fixes the issue. Patch taken from kernel bug #35922 as
well as archlinux and redhat who already fixed the issue in their
kernels. I added many more affected cameras in the present patch. I hope
we see it applied to oneiric kernels soon, otherwise the wikis that
report how nicely all these Logitech cameras play with linux should be
rewritten because the audio has been terribly broken, while it worked
fine with natty.
