[Bug 760131] Re: Power consumption raised significantly in natty

2011-10-25 Thread FrankSL
I have a HP 6710b laptop and still have this problem in Natty with latest
updates. My system i a dual boot with windows xp, so I can easily compare
battery life and with natty is way shorter than with windows.
Please tell me if I can provide any info.

[Bug 881830] [NEW] Track pad does not respond properly

2011-10-25 Thread Lars Noodén
Public bug reported:

On a MacBookPro8,2, the track pad does not respond properly. Single
clicks are nearly always interpreted as double clicks and it is not
possible to 'click-and-drag'. Perhaps the second problem is tied to the
first.

The expected behavior is that if the trackpad is tapped once, then the
machine interprets it as a single click not a double click.

[Bug 835304] Re: contained fontconfig setting files force to make it default font

2011-10-25 Thread Martin Pitt
I'm not sure why this is necessary. "make it default Korean font by
itself" sounds perfectly right, not a bug. It would be a bug if merely
installing this package would make it the default font for _other_
languages, such as Latin based ones. But that doesn't seem to be the
cause? It is a lot better if packages configure themselves instead of
having to use the language-selector fontconfig hacks.

[Bug 881821] [NEW] Cursor randomly drops at zero in Gimp

2011-10-25 Thread Julien Jorge
Public bug reported:

Hi,

When using a Wacom tablet with Gimp in Oneiric the cursor randomly drops
at zero on one axis or the other, making the software unusable.

The bug is reported on Gnome's Bugzilla and the discussion pointed out
that the cause may be the driver or GTK. See the report for the complete
discussion and a screencast of the problem:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=661872

The problem did not exist in Natty. I have also installed the xserver-
xorg-input-wacom package from Natty in Oneiric with no success.

** Affects: xf86-input-wacom (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

Apport crashes, so sorry if there were duplicates.

I ran apport after the machine was warm, not hot. Also, the machine

apport information

** Attachment added: "UdevLog.txt"
   https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/881593/+attachment/2573018/+files/UdevLog.txt

** Description changed:

Parts of the notebook computer become painfully hot to the touch while
running Ubuntu, and the fan is not running. When I boot back to OS X,
the fan kicks in and runs until the computer returns to being cool to
the touch. What metrics do I need to collect to help fix the problem?

There seem to be two problems, one is that the hardware near the screen
(GPU?) getting WAY too hot, another is that the fan is not turning on
when the hardware gets too hot.

  This is the recent ubuntu:
  $ lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 11.10
  Release: 11.10

This affects the lifespan of the computer and it could conceivably be used to
burn out and destroy the hardware very early.

[Bug 881593] Re: Hardware temperature hazardously hot

2011-10-25 Thread Lars Noodén
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected running-unity

** Description changed:

Parts of the notebook computer become painfully hot to the touch while
running Ubuntu, and the fan is not running. When I boot back to OS X,
the fan kicks in and runs until the computer returns to being cool to
the touch. What metrics do I need to collect to help fix the problem?

There seem to be two problems, one is that the hardware near the screen
(GPU?) getting WAY too hot, another is that the fan is not turning on
when the hardware gets too hot.

  This is the recent ubuntu:
  $ lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 11.10
  Release: 11.10

- This affects the lifespan of the computer and it could conceivably be
- used to burn out and destroy the hardware very early.

[Bug 865612] Re: Unity slow at logout/shutting down

2011-10-25 Thread Johannes Gowin
May be just stopping NetworkManager isn't enough. I did the replacement
with wicd on to different laptops and they are both fast at shutdowwn
again. For me the console messages looked like this: 'nm-
dispatcher.action: Caught signal 15, shutting down'.

[Bug 881816] Re: package linux-image-3.0.0-12-generic (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: corrupted filesystem tarfile - corrupted package archive

2011-10-25 Thread Brad Figg
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue.

However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during
any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all.
Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request
further testing. This is such a request.

We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel
than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test
again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still
exists or not.

If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to
Confirmed. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from
Incomplete to Fix Released.

Thank you for your help, we really do appreciate it.

[Bug 881819] [NEW] Pidgin doesn't automatically log in accounts

2011-10-25 Thread Ivo Wever
Public bug reported:

Ever since the upgrade to 11.10, pidgin never recovers from being auto-
started before there is a network connection. It remains in "Waiting for
network connection" and never logs in its accounts. I need to go to the
accounts tab and uncheck and recheck all accounts to get them to sign
in.

[Bug 826771] Re: indicator-appmenu leads to have a nautilus menubar displayed on top of the screen

2011-10-25 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
@Matthieu:
What I did is just a workaround, but I don't think that many users use Unity
with transparent panel and without AppMenu, so it's fixed for 90% of users.

Maybe it'll also be efficient to change "if (proxy != NULL)" check to
"if (proxy != NULL && g_str_has_prefix(...))".

As I said in comment #17, the actual problem is not in Nautilus, but
probably in appmenu-gtk.

Checking for unity-panel-service is not a good idea because Nautilus
process can be launched before that one.

[Bug 876930] Re: Sync gcc-mingw-w64 1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2011-10-25 Thread Stephen Kitt
Not quite, it needs to control dpkg-buildflags' output appropriately
(dropping all hardening options). I'm working on getting a fixed version
into Debian (so that the package can be resynced).

[Bug 881792] Re: System will not power down after shutdown

2011-10-25 Thread Brian Wright
The latest kernel that I have installed is linux-image-3.0.0-13-generic,
version 3.0.0-13.21 and the system will not power down.

Where can I find kernel-request-3.0.0-12.20?
