[Bug 851172] Re: [regression] Drag and drop inside dash is very slow with Active Blur activated
Understood. The slowness of the active blur code in oneiric has caused multiple bugs; 861061, 880707... But I don't think we should aim to put it in a thread just because it is slow. In a thread it will still use up the same (too much) CPU/GPU. Instead we should aim to make it fast. I do wonder why Unity requires hardware shaders (to draw icons !?), and yet when it's really really important to have fast hardware shading we use a slow blurring method that has severe impact in multiple components :( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/851172 Title: [regression] Drag and drop inside dash is very slow with Active Blur activated To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/851172/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 893473] [NEW] Libreoffice Calc hangs system in copy paste operations
Public bug reported: When doing a copy operation from a calc spreadsheet to another spreadsheet or to writer, calc hangs the system. Nothing works except the mouse cursor. All displays, panels etc. freeze. Sometimes there is screen flicker in which the screen suddenly seems to go blank and calc/writer may start work again after a few seconds. However, the general rule seems to be to hang the system. In my view there is something about selecting a range of cells that causes this. Because I find abnormal behaviour during selection/copy- paste operations. If in a sheet I select a range of cells and copy them to another sheet, then come back to the earlier sheet, I find the selection still highlighted. Cross-referencing cells across sheets for formuale etc. become a problem under the circumstances. [Bug 668234] Re: acer_wmi is blocking wireless on Ideapad S12
Hi, So far what I know is that acer-wmi register rfkill of acer-wireless on lots of laptops, including several ideapads. Unfortunately there are something wrong with soft block. Even the wireless is powered on, rfkill shows wireless is soft blocked and we find no way to unblock it. So, with this test kernel, please check the output of `rfkill list` and ideally there shall be no acer-wireless, then you can unblock all by `rfkill unblock all` and wireless shall work fine. If not, please attach the output of `rfkill list`, `dmesg` and `lsmod` and I will try to find out why. I've built another kernel with the same patches and put at http://people.canonical.com/~ikepanhc/lp/875659-3/ if you would like to test on Oneiric. [Bug 745994] Re: Can't hear sound effects when in Unity
I am also seeing the same with Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric. It is almost exactly the same with steps to reproduce and results. Also when I login to guest the login sound works there. I also tried with the Oneiric Ocelot live CD. 1. After booting to desktop sound was muted in the top panel speaker icon. 2. Opened the Sound Settings from the speaker icon, unmuted. 3. Selected diffierent sounds in Choose an Alert Sound, they all sounded and were audible. 4, Logged out 5. Logged in. Result no login sound. Diferences with my setup (doesn't play in Live CD) is: pressing tab in terminal causes alert sound to work there. [Bug 893464] [NEW] D-Link DWA-525 wireless desktop PCI adapter doesn't work under Oneiric
Public bug reported: I recently purchased a D-Link DWA-525 wireless desktop PCI adapter. It is identified as a RALINK rt2800 style card but the driver provided with the system does not work with this device (wireless networking disabled). The latest drivers from http://www.ralinktech.com/en/ - that is, DPO_RT3562_3592_3062_LinuxSTA_V2.4.1.1_20101217.tgz - work fine when installed as per the following instructions: http://steveswinsburg.wordpress.com/2011/03/12/how-to-install-a-d-link- dwa-525-wireless-network-card-in-ubuntu-10-04/ Of course, they need to be re-built and re-installed every time a new kernel comes along... and meanwhile, the network isn't working... Is there any way to get this fixed so that the correct drivers, correctly configured, are installed by default for this device? Thanks! [Bug 875659] Re: RT3090 wireless conflict with acer_wmi
This is my last approach for acer-wmi rfkill related issue. The root cause of this issue is we can not update the soft block status of acer- wireless rfkill. This patched acer-wmi will try to change the rfkill status and see if the status is *real*changed. If not, driver will not register acer- wireless rfkill. So, please test the kernel deb at http://people.canonical.com/~ikepanhc/lp/875659-3/ And not to blacklist acer-wmi or set any kernel parameter on acer-wmi. [Bug 778520] Re: install on degraded raid1 does not boot, drops to initramfs shell
It appears my degraded RAID1 problem was actually due to an instance of bug #699802. After working around this bug, I am able to boot with a degraded RAID1 and get the appropriate prompt, or skip the prompt with BOOT_DEGRADED=true. This is with quiet and splash removed. There is still a problem when using quiet and splash, but I think that this is far more likely to be a UEFI/video related problem. [Bug 893450] Re: KVM guest fails to autostart sometimes with virSecurityDACRestoreSecurityFileLabel error
Thanks for submitting this bug. I'm marking it high priority as it fits 'severe impact on a small number of users'. The problem appears to be that the logical volume is slow in coming up, such that libvirt starts before the udev creates its device node. Working around this in your particular case should be pretty easy, but a general fix will be harder. To work around it in your case, please try adding the following to your /etc/init/libvirt-bin.conf file, at the end of the 'pre-start script' section: while [ ! -e /dev/vg_default/lv_robot-pv0 ]; do sleep 1s done So, for instance, the pre-start script section would probably become: pre-start script [ -r /etc/default/libvirt-bin ] && . /etc/default/libvirt-bin [ ! "x$start_libvirtd" = "xyes" ] && { stop; exit 0; } mkdir -p /var/run/libvirt # Clean up a pidfile that might be left around rm -f /var/run/libvirtd.pid date >> /var/log/libvirt-upstart echo $$ >> /var/log/libvirt-upstart cat /proc/self/cmdline >> /var/log/libvirt-upstart cat /proc/self/cgroup >> /var/log/libvirt-upstart while [ ! -e /dev/vg_default/lv_robot-pv0 ]; do sleep 1s done end script Please let us know if that does not work around your problem for now. ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/893450 Title: KVM guest fails to autostart sometimes with virSecurityDACRestoreSecurityFileLabel error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/893450/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
