[Bug 891839] Re: xscreensaver will not unlock when using Kerberos authentication

2011-11-24 Thread Tormod Volden
If you get the same issue using gnome-screensaver, it is likely that the
bug is not in xscreensaver. I'll reassign the package for now.

** Package changed: xscreensaver (Ubuntu) = libpam-krb5 (Ubuntu)

[Bug 885280] Re: internal compiler error: in add_phi_arg, at tree-phinodes.c:391 [maverick]

2011-11-24 Thread Alex Valavanis
Hi Bryce,

I'm not sure if it's really resolved in Ubuntu Maverick - the package
would presumably still FTBFS for any user who tried a local build.
However, pushing a new version of GCC is understandably a very big deal.
Probably best closing as Won't fix rather than Fix Released so that
users at least know that the bug still exists and can see the reason for
not pushing the change.

[Bug 870969] Re: Microphone doesn't work on Skype or Flash

2011-11-24 Thread David Henningsson
Hi Ilias,

From the log it seems like skype is using the output monitor as the
input source, instead of using the mic input. I'm a little unsure what
causes this though. Could you please try the following in a terminal:

echo autospawn = no ~/.pulse/client.conf
pulseaudio -k
mv ~/.pulse ~/.oldpulse

This will remove any saved pulse settings. Restart pulseaudio by clicking
speaker icon, then sound settings.
Now retry skype call. Did it resolve your problem?

[Bug 877012] Re: [panel] on a multi monitor setup the panel length appears to be calculated with the screen in focus at the time of execution

I just encountered the same problem. When running an Xmonad/Gnome
session with unity-2d-panel, the panel would not choose the correct
width on a multi-display system. Using the branch lp:~mardy/unity-

[Bug 894294] [NEW] lost sound and network

2011-11-24 Thread Stephen Jessop
Public bug reported:

I am new to this OS but I have tinkered with Linux on and off for a
number of years and as I was having problems with getting windows 7 to
run my satellite card I though I would give Ubuntu ago. Any way to the
point I have been trying to get a satellite TBS card working which it
did to the point of no picture but I had sound and net work. After a
while following the instruction for MythTV I got a picture but no sound
:( but the sound was working for normal opperation of the OS . I
thought give it a reboot which I did. Unforunatly Ubuntu was also
downloading the update to the latest version because after the reboot I
had a new desktop and no sound at all nore any network. :( So after
days of trying to get a picture I am now stuck as to what to do.

My PC is a quad core 2.66 Ghz, Audigy 2 sound card, network, NVIDIA 460
GTX 1GB and network is off the motherboard Gygabite P35-DS3L ver2.

[Bug 608907]

2011-11-24 Thread Vietor
I'm experiencing the same issue on a new U160-0894 (i5-470UM, working
Turbo). I've tried current (Thu Oct 28 15:22:13 PDT 2010) versions of
the fixes/next/staging branches to no effect.

To be clear:
Backlight is on, no output appears once the i915 driver loads.
External monitor works fine.
i915.modeset=0 'works', but of course the intel driver then cannot load later.
No other framebuffer driver is compiled in and dmesg says: fbcon: inteldrmfb
(fb0) is primary device

In my dmesg I'm also seeing: [drm:intel_panel_get_max_backlight]
*ERROR* fixme: max PWM is zero.

Which I did not see in either of the posted dmesg outputs. However the
backlight appears to be fine, and even responds to the Fn+Up/Down
controls while the screen is blank (more or less bleed-through), so
probably not useful.

Please let me know what I can do to help.

[Bug 608907]

2011-11-24 Thread Vietor
Using intel_reg_dumper, the suggestions in this discussion, and a bit of
poking around, I've attempted to harmonize the output from
intel_reg_dumper between the plain no-frame-buffer output, and the
intelfb using KMS.

Specifically I'm using the drm-intel-fixes branch of the current version
of drm-intel, and have applied the two suggestions in this thread, and
reverted commit 12e8ba25ef52f19e7a42e61aecb3c1fef83b2a82.

None of this has caused any change in behavior which I've noticed, but
the diff of the intel_reg_dumper output is getting fairly small and
perhaps someone who actually has some idea what they are doing can find
some insight in it.

Marc Bevand:
However I discovered that what actually happens is that the moment i915.ko is
loaded, the output switches to HDMI. I found this out by connecting a monitor
to the laptop's HDMI output while the LCD panel was blank.

I do not think this is correct, rather I think what you are seeing is
the HDMI port correctly detect a connection and begin using it. I can
plug a VGA connector into my U160 and see the same behavior you
describe, however, if you look at /sys/class/drm/card0-*/enabled I
think you'll see what's actually happening here (At least what I *think*
is happening...).

To begin with, in my configuration, only
/sys/class/drm/card0-LVDS-1/enabled says 'enabled', however, as I plug
in a VGA connector /sys/class/drm/card0-VGA-1/enabled transitions from
'disabled' to 'enabled' and I see the expected output on the monitor.

It looks very much like everything is working, except the LVDS output.

[Bug 608907]

2011-11-24 Thread Marc Bevand
I have an additional piece of information that other users did not
report. I can reproduce this bug on my Lenovo U160 laptop. When loading
i915.ko, the laptop display panel (LVDS) becomes blank. However I
discovered that what actually happens is that the moment i915.ko is
loaded, the output switches to HDMI. I found this out by connecting a
monitor to the laptop's HDMI output while the LCD panel was blank.

Like many reporters, I can reproduce the bug with different kernels:
Ubuntu 10.10's 2.6.35-based kernel, as well as a vanilla 2.6.36.

After discovering this, I tried playing with xrandr --output LVDS
--auto (and --off) but all it seems to do is to turn the backlight on
and off. The display remains blank.

PS: Vietor Davis' last message reveals what seems to be an important difference
in the registers, between using vesa and i915:
- CPU_VGACNTRL: 0x0020298e (enabled)
+ CPU_VGACNTRL: 0x8000 (disabled)
Anyone can comment on this?

[Bug 378794]

2011-11-24 Thread Mathias-bavay
As of Today, with all latest updates from Ubuntu 11.10, that is:
Xorg 7.6, video-intel 2.17 on a 3.0.0 kernel, on a i915M (pentium M CPU), the
bug is still here... Some portions of the screen are not refreshed, some menus
are not refreshed (the K menu is never correctly displayed, one has to wave the
mouse pointer up and down to show it), KDE4 notifications are usually only
partially displayed, and the whole background sometimes shows stripes.

[Bug 277404]

2011-11-24 Thread Roger
My printer is a HP M1522NF

I'm seeing a similar bug to this too, except only one or two fonts are
replaced with a square/rectangle char.

Changing postscript level within the ppd file only works around the
problem.

I first noticed this with using Abiword. Open abiword and enter the
available chars of the alphabet with numbers (ie. ABC..., abc...,
123...) and print using cups. Even printing to file and transfering
the .ps file to and printing from Windows shows this problem.

Another method to find the problem, is create or view a webpage using
utf-8 and print a list of chars (similar to above). I happened across
this method by finding and randomly printing a website within Seamonkey.

www-client/seamonkey-2.3.1-2.3.3 (I haven't tested the specific site since
2.3.1 or 2.3.2??)
app-text/poppler-0.16.7
app-office/abiword-2.8.6-r1
app-text/ghostscript-gpl-8.7.1-r6

I've got threads concerning this on the abiword cairo mailing lists.

2011-11-24 Thread Roger
net-print/hplip-3.11.7

Oh, hplip comes with several ppd files for this device. Using the pcl
ppd file which uses PS Level 3, does print just fine, however the file
printed has some unusually high margins -- but everything here is set to
print Letter and not A4 or Legal.

A little more info, the HP M1522 is a PS Level 2 with PS Level 3
emulation. Does this matter?

I don't think you are reading the specifications correctly. It is PS
Level 3 emulation which means it contains a non Adobe PostScript
interpreter that implements all the Level 3 features.

Have you tried a firmware update?

[Bug 277404]

2011-11-24 Thread Roger
I've found Ubuntu (via the Launchpad Ubuntu bug), as well as the Windows
HP driver seems to be forcing HP product (M1522NF here) to use PS Level
2, even though PS Level 3 is specified.

In other words, you can explicitly state within the application to print
PS Level 3, but you'll get a rendered PS Level 2 file instead without
you knowing it. I kind of complained this is hackish to the Ubuntu
Launchpad filed bug. At most, the box should be greyed or unavailable
for these products that do not support PS Level 3.

On Gentoo here, cups printer support is setup to obey the user's
configuration files -- as well as probably most others except Ubuntu.
I've made note of the PS Level 3 printing problems for HP products known
on Gentoo Wiki.

(Also note, irrelevant to this bug, using a the HP M1522NF fax plugged
into a phone outlet using DSL with a DSL filter, the fax modem on this
device seems to misinterpret the DSL signals as a fax signal sometimes,
and you'll hear noise through the HP product speaker. Hard reset is the
only cure, aside from also unplugging the phone/fax line when you're not
using it.)

RE: [Bug 894190] Re: 'Could not write bytes broken pipe' occurs just before log in with Lubuntu 11.10

2011-11-24 Thread Orographic
Thanks for getting back to me.

Yes, that was the exact error message, that I recall. Although, it may have
been slightly different the first time
I observed the message. After the first time, the error message changed a
little, from memory, to the words that I described.

At the moment, the message has gone away.

Is this the exact error message? I think there may be some words
missing here; that's ok if you don't have the exact message, I have a
pretty good idea of what the right message is anyway.

Our bug bot has marked this as a bug against the plymouth package. The
message is related to plymouth, but we have not in general heard reports
of this problem with Ubuntu 11.10. We *have* heard of such things on
Lubuntu in particular. So there seems to be something wrong in the
Lubuntu startup sequence that causes plymouth to be killed earlier than
 it should be.

[Bug 894292] [NEW] Sandybridge suspend/resume regression on 3.0.0-12-generic/3.0.0-13-generic

2011-11-24 Thread Pascal Hartig
Public bug reported:

I'm using a Samsung Series 9 notebook (900X3A). With 3.0.0-11-generic
the suspend/resume cycle works flawlessly, but starting with
3.0.0-12-generic the notebook does not wake up anymore. The screen stays
unlit and I can't toggle the Caps Lock or Fn Lock keys. There is no
flashing caps lock key, either.

pm_trace did not bring up anything interesting. 3:366:726 on a first and
3:22:878 on a second test. The first time it matched the loop6 device,
which was probably coincidental.

Manually downgrading to 3.0.0-11-generic works for me.

MS Word docx with a wide table

I have a Word docx created with MS Office 2007, landscape, legal paper
size.

I'm using latest version of LO. When I open the file with either Libre
Office or Open Office the table columns lose all width information.

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10, 64-bit.

To me this is a show-stopper from getting folks to use LO. It is also a
surprise because I have had great results with OO in the past.

I have attached the docx file and the pdf generated from it with MS
Word.

Export to PDF. Tables are fucked. Lines look bad and height of rows is
not preserved.

This is really pretty severe. LibreOffice should work with tables
produced by other word processors.

Interestingly though, Okular, which also uses poppler, does. I attached the PDF

The version of libpoppler used was 0.16.4 on a Ubuntu system

It's absolutely worse that what is describe on 3.4.3 version

If the document used was created by a previous version, trying to edit
an existing charts remove all references to the data series sources.

The previous data, sometimes exist but as a table, like if they were
copied from the initial data series.

On columns chart type with 3.4.3 the data source is killed, and then
there's no way for the users to retrieve it. Even ctrl+Z doesn't restore
the chart.

- Data corruption ! You need to use a previous version of the document
if it saved, there's no more data.

See the different print-screen attached.

This as been tested and confirmed under Linux 64bits (openSUSE 11.4 /
12.1 ) + windows 7 64bits, and windows xp 32 bits (legacy LOO.exe

The last case makes it sound like there potentially should be a per-seat

A test account for a very old version of amarok with X forwarding

Accounts that can only be accessed by ssh or that don't make sense to
log in directly (and are just noise for other users on the machine) but
that are otherwise still normal user accounts with home directories and
that don't really belong in the system account pid range.

Arguably some of this is better handled by virtual machines nowadays;
but the separate build user case for mock is, I believe, still strong.
And the ssh keys in a separate account case is reasonable, isn't it?

[Original Description]
This happens when I play the game Minecraft in 11.10 Oneiric. To be honest, I
don't know if it is my video card, Java, or my processor that is the problem.
When I run Minecraft, Java usually crashes after a few minutes. And not just
Java, it usually beings down a few other processes with it. I could run this
fine in 11.04. After Java crashed this time, Apport had me report this bug.
Also, after Java crashed this time, Unity also crashed, so I currently have no
panels or window decorations. I'll reboot and try to crash it all again, and
see if I can get some more useful information. All I know is that Java
consistently crashes in Oneiric while running Minecraft on my system, and
almost always causes more problems when it crashes.

[Problem]
GPU lockup on Sandybridge. User had 10+ applications open, but don't know if
that was involved in the cause.  User doesn't think any of the apps were 3D;
perhaps the crash was triggered by compiz itself?

 DocxAttributeOutput::PostitField(...)

needs an implementation, worse since you don't output the comment but a
reference to the comment you need to cache those comments ( per
document/paragraph ? ) and then dump the comment meta-data into a
comments.xml file in the docx zip.

[Problem]
ATI card fan is always on with opensource radeon driver

[Original Description]
$ cat /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_profile
low

When I use the opensource driver for my ATI card the notebook fan is
always spinning and temperature of outgoing air from fan is very high,
even when I set /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_profile to low and cpu
mode to powersave. With proprietary drivers (fglrx) I set video card
performance to ondemand (I forgot the exact name of this mode in ATI
control center) and cpu mode to ondemand, and the notebook isn't hot,
fans are not spinning (if I don't start flash, games or some similar app
with high cpu load). So with fglrx I can use the notebook on battery for
1.5 - 2 hours and it's not hot, but with the opensource driver notebook
on battery is dead in 50 minutes, the fan is always on, it noise is
loud, and the notebook is very hot.

According to
https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/fi/wiki/Tiedosto:KB_Finnish_Multilingual.svg
the hyphen key should have some deadkey diacritic that would appear OVER
a letter but, instead, /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/fi has
dead_belowcomma, which is apparently a non-existent symbol, which makes
console-setup complain loudly.

key AB10 { [ minus, underscore, endash,
dead_belowcomma   ] };

[Problem]
Output on external screen with VGA is described as having waves that makes it
unusable. The problem has been observed with kernels up through and including
3.0 release candidates. This problem was also discussed on
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28306, and a patch that helped was
provided there (commit 633f2ea drm/i915: Disable SSC for outputs other than
LVDS or DP) but was later reverted (commit fc9a222), so the issue is still
outstanding. It was requested that a new bug be opened as a result of confusion
from unrelated issues.

[Original Description]
A similar problem with Lucid was reported mainly by users of ATi Radeon
graphics hardware. I also experienced the wavy output in Lucid, although the
graphics h/w is the integrated intel that comes with the Core i3 processors.

It is easy to reproduce. Just plug in an external monitor or projector.
The output is not stable/solid and has waves that make it unusable.

I tried the Maverick Alpha3 to see if it had been addressed in the
2.6.35 kernel but the problem is still apparent.

The LCD display of the Laptop is rock solid and sharp. This only affects
the external VGA from what I can tell. I do not have any hdmi devices to
test with so cannot confirm if the symptoms are just VGA or any external
monitor connection.

Similar bug reports from Lucid include: 537640, 541501, 557814, 562138
although these all seem to relate to the ATI chipsets, the description
of the problem sounds the same.

I am happy to try upstream kernels and build/patch/compile if necessary.

It would be handy to be able to create temporary accounts using accounts

LightDM currently does this (with code modified from an Ubuntu patch to
GDM) [1] [2]. The behaviour is basically:

1. Something requests a guest account
2. A new account is created with a random username guest-XX
3. Some OS dependant code is run to lock the account down
4. The username is returned
5. The account can be deleted using the username

Are there any plans for this in accounts service? If not, I'll start
working on a patch.

Hey Robert,

if you want to work on something like this, that would be great.
Some things to consider:

- it is probably a good idea to have an IsGuestAccount? method on the
user object, so we can eg. do the right thing in the user panel

- should it be possible to turn a guest account into a 'real' account ?

- probably needs to be possible to disable guest account creation

As I don't have a Windows system on which to test, I don't know. On Mac,
you don't get the choice of not installing one or more of the
components, it is all or nothing. On Linux, the official debs install
everything too. Someone with a Linux distribution package set would have
to try to see if not installing the Base packet causes the same
behaviour on Linux.

Failing that, I agree that the bibliography db should be deactivated or
unregistered by the Windows installer if the user decides not to use
Base (although to be fair, it doesn't take up a lot of space). Whether
that is seen as vitally important to the development team is another
matter. Data loss might, and I say might, only occur in the particular
circumstances you have set out, and if the user has willingly decided
not to install the Base module, why on earth would he or she go looking
for the bibliograhphy db ?

I was not aware Base is used for the bibliography db, or rather, for using the
references and index tables for my sources when writing a doc in writer.
When installing, I thought it was more of a DB backend if I want to use it as a
DB for other data. More like scripting or coding something.

Original report at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/437173
Look like I've forgot for years to report upstream. Sorry :(

Used default of the intel driver:

when booting a laptop with an external monitor connected, the
default is mirror mode with a resolution that is 'biggest' one
supported by _both_ monitors. (Compare:
http://keithp.com/blogs/X_output_status_july_2008/)

Problem:

The visual impression is often (always in my experience) very bad:

 * external monitor often do not support the naive resolution of the laptop
   display
 * Even worse: first common resolution supported by both monitors has not
the same aspect ratio as the displays

Suggested solution for same aspect ratio:

...much better would be: If both monitors have the same aspect ratio (e.g.
16:10 or 4:3) choose the smaller resolution as the common base and scale to the
size bigger monitor. (Because only one monitor needs scaling it should even save
tons of GPU cycles.

With the proposed algorithm, one output runs with the 'perfect' native
resolution and only one is transformed, with taspect ratio is presered!
Currently base resolution is: lower than min. of both display, _both_
are transformed, aspect ratio is not kept.

At https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/437173 you can find lots of xorg.log
and xrandr output. Lemme know if you need more other input.

Thx,

[Bug 876762] Re: KDE crashes at login with desktop effects enabled

2011-11-24 Thread jhoechtl
The work-around described in #7 #4 of course only works if

- you do not switch between DRI modes (eg. ALT-SHIFT-F12)
- you do not have power save enabled to alter desktop effects

otherwise you will lose any unsaved work when you detach you power cord.

Kent, I don't speak chinese but since it doesn't do substring matching
your example would work:

的办公软件套装 doesn't start with 办公软件 so that's probably why typing that doesn't
work

Does typing 兼容开 or 的办公 or ODF work?

Re: [Bug 787210] Re: ath9k drivers freeze the system when changing state

2011-11-24 Thread Sam VdE
Hi guys

In the end I replaced the module by a Broadcom one a few weeks ago. The
laptop is running as clean as can be. It never freezes, I suspend/resume it
all the time and I disable/enable network at will. I rebooted maybe 2-3
times over the past weeks, mainly because of installed updates.

I could not get a meaningful error code out of the ath9k driver although I
tried all procedures. I am not a developer, but maybe a debug module
printing out some essential status information could help here.

Kind regards
Sam

A simple sudo rmmod ath9k suffices to freeze the system completely

I'll try the steps of comment #6 at home as I don't have any wifi access

 Title:
ath9k drivers freeze the system when changing state

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

 Bug description:
  Binary package hint: linux-image-generic

The ath9k driver freezes the laptop when the adapter changes state.
Reproduceable by enabling/disabling wireless adapter using the network
manager applet, or by suspending the system. The issue exists at least
in 10.10 as well, but never had issues running 10.04. Since applicable
in several kernel versions, reported this against linux-image-generic.
It's 32 bit stock kernel, latest updates, Natty 11.04 i386.

On 10.10 the system got freezes randomly just while browsing, which
was even worse. Used compat-wireless which made it much better but not
perfect (only freezes on state changes as mentioned above).

I am 100% sure it is triggered by the wireless driver: issuing rmmod
ath9k ath9k_common ath9k_hw ath prior to suspending the laptop,
followed by modprobe ath9k after resume, makes the freeze disappear.
I actually added a script in /etc/pm.d/sleep.d issuing these commands
  and now laptop works normal.

[Bug 894302] [NEW] log4j jar files do not include OSGi metadata

2011-11-24 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

apache-log4j1.2 1.2.16-2 introduced OSGi metadata using the bnd package;

[Bug 755791] Re: [RS690M] No 3d acceleration in Radeon X1200 with new Gallium r300 / 3d drivers in 11.04 (Needs kernel quirk)

2011-11-24 Thread Ian McMichael
Having upgraded to the 3.0.0-13-generic #22-Ubuntu kernel (without the
RS690M patch) after the security release a couple of days ago, I realise
that there is really no improvement on my HP Compaq 6715b whether I run
Alex's patch or not. The graphics are very lagged in both Unity 3D and
2D.

For an example of this, pull down the far-right (what is the name for
that, settings?) from the top bar and move your mouse pointer up and
down over the menu items. The orange highlight bar lags substantially
behind the mouse pointer position. The same can be observed by picking
a window up by its title bar and dragging it around the workspace. The
mouse pointer becomes more and more detached from the title bar of the
window as you drag and the window lags behind.

Hopefully this explains the usability impact of this bug? If there's
any more technical data I can collect from my particular RS690M
installation that would help, please just ask?

[Bug 614238] Re: Intel Core i3 External Monitor Wavy Output

2011-11-24 Thread Martin Fisher
I don't have much of an understanding of bug reporting and fixing - my
interest here is simply this bug and hoping to see it resolved for 11.10

I have come across this, howev.er:

and post it here in case it is relevant.

Thanks, Martin

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report. We understand the difficulties you are
facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in
the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are
uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see

[Bug 894201] Re: Upgrade-tool is not upgrading but replacing

2011-11-24 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Ok, reading again your description:

 What happend:
I couldn't select the Ubuntu Classic session, NOR find a menu of all
applications, PLUS all my panel links were not there once I
 installed the gnome-session-fallback package

Those are somewhat GNOME upstream issues, sorry about that but we will get them
on any distribution:
- gnome-panel has been ranked as a fallback session in GNOME3 and is not really
maintained, the choice would be to give you gnome-shell or unity on upgrade,
both are different interfaces from what you were used to and will have a
somewhat clean configuration

The fact that the gnome-panel configuration is not migrated is a gnome-
panel upstream decision, not something Ubuntu is reponsible for doing

 Conclusion:
The upgrade tool installs the new Ocelot release without any option of using
my old settings, shortcuts or panels used in my previous Ubuntu Classic
 sessions.
It's more like a new installation than an upgrade.

Sorry about that, linux desktops got a refresh recently that happens
every few years, all your applications and program configurations are
still there though, it's just the desktop ui which changed

I'm not able to make people who are new to Ubuntu happy. There is no way they
find any of the programs, games, etc. They would have to KNOW the name!
For calculator its quite obvious but for something like Excel they can't find
it because Math or Open Office isn't something they'd look for.

It's an interesting point, could you explain what is your issue to find
programs? You can click on the Ubuntu logo on the left launcher, that
will open the dash screen, there click on the find extra applications
or at the bottom on the second icon that will give you the application
lens. This view has filters on the top right similar to the menu
categories you have and a list of all installed applications, you can
basically browse them as you used to do it from there. Isn't that
working for you?

Note that you don't have to know the name of an application to find it,
the code look into the description and keywords as well we do plan to
improve the use of keywords this cycle, but i.e looking for excel should
maybe list libreoffice-calc...

So this upgrade is no upgrade at all if they lose the functionality.
This will lose me as Ubuntu user, and hold new users from becoming such.

What functionnality did you loose? Note that if Unity displease you,
there are other desktop environment available in Ubuntu: gnome-shell,
gnome-panel, xfce, lxde, kde, etc, no need to change to another system,
it's easier to just install the desktop you want to try

[Bug 874254] Re: top bar, integrated menu - when a application is first launched, the integrated menu should be displayed for 2 seconds before fading out of view

2011-11-24 Thread John Lea
@Treviño; to answer your questions:

- menus should be shown every time a application is launched (not once per
session)
- If another application opens less than 2sec after app A is opened, the top
bar switches to displaying the new application's menus (for 2 seconds).
- If the user switches focus from and back to the application in under 2
seconds after opening it, the menus should not be displayed a second time.
After a menu stops showing, it should not start showing again.

Hi Juergen,

The workaround, until someone decides to fix it, is to use the JDBC3

The alternative JDBC driver does work but is 10x slower. The performance
difference is so big that it cannot be considered a 'real' alternative.

Hi Ferry,

Probably - there is no one in the LibO dev team at the moment with a
particular interest / availability for fixing DB related issues, so it
is not just postgres.

I can not even find the postgres SDBC driver source code anymore (the
connectivity/postgres directory has disappeared from the LibO repo), so
unless Joerg or someone else is willing to help out then it might just
die.

[Bug 805586] Re: i915 Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung

2011-11-24 Thread HAL 9000
I'm having the same problem on oneiric. The screen randomly freezes for
a few seconds (the mouse still moves, but everything else is dead), then
everything turns black for a second, and then it all goes back to
normal. Afterwards, I find this in my syslog:

[ 200.319085] [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed...
GPU hung

[ 200.700351] [drm:ironlake_update_pch_refclk] *ERROR* enabling SSC on PCH

The enabling SSC on PCH-error also appears randomly from time to time,
but I don't notice it otherwise.

Also, it only seems to occur when I have my second screen connected.

[Bug 778464] Re: typo in xdg-email script preventing processing destination email address

2011-11-24 Thread Fredrik-lysholm
So for us still clinging to 10.04 you can edit /usr/bin/xdg-email by
your selfs...

May I also suggest allowing correct processing of links where for
example body and subject is not always in lowercase ? This can be done
by adding the -i flag to grep and do a s/^subject=/subject=/i via sed.

Furthermore, since I often stumble upon emails written with @ replaced
with (at) and . with (dot), which actually displays correctly using
chromium, I added support for this via this line:

TO=$(echo $TO | sed 's/\s*(dot)\s*/./g' | sed 's/\s*(at)\s*/@/');

My changes to allow for non-lower case body= etc. in mailto URLs:

MAILTO=$(echo $MAILTO | sed 's//\n/g')
TO=$(echo $MAILTO | grep '^to=' -i | sed 's/^to=//' | awk '{ printf
%s,,$0 }')
CC=$(echo $MAILTO | grep '^cc=' -i | sed 's/^cc=//' | awk '{ printf
%s,,$0 }')
BCC=$(echo $MAILTO | grep '^bcc=' -i | sed 's/^bcc=//' | awk '{ printf
%s,,$0 }')
SUBJECT=$(echo $MAILTO | grep '^subject=' -i | tail -n 1 | sed
's/^subject=/subject=/i')
BODY=$(echo $MAILTO | grep '^body=' -i | tail -n 1 | sed
's/^body=/body=/i')
ATTACH=$(echo $MAILTO | sed 's/^attach=/\n\nfile:\/\//gi' | awk '/^file:/
{ printf %s,,$0 }')
ATTACH=$(echo $ATTACH | sed 's/,$//')

Note the -i flag passed to grep and the sed to replace non-lowercase
keys which is also need.
