My system just had the same partial freeze -- apps still running but mouse and keyboard largely ineffective. It happened when I clicked on Clementine while a song was playing. I was able to get gnome working again with DISPLAY=":0.0" gnome-shell --replaceIt had failed with an error that indicated --replace hadn't been used, so I added it. 30 minutes ago I disabled the mgse-mediaplayer in Advanced Settings and replaced the menu extension with the extension.js provided above. Is there anything else I need to do to get those changes to be effective? Or are they just not working for me? Other than Clementine, I had firefox, gnome-terminal and eclipse-CDT running, and hadn't used the menu in a while. Finally upgraded the kernel. Problem still happens. At this point I suspect the rt2500(?) module as that seems to be the module that loads just before everything goes crazy. The kernel that shipped with the boot disk has been completely perfect. After some more testing, it appears the problem only appears when I use the NVidia proprietary driver. I'm guessing they're calling some kernel function that resets the keyboard. Okay, I was able to try this with Picasa (after I finally figured out how to download it as Google kept telling me my OS wasn't supported). What I am seeing with Picasa (in Oneiric with wine 1.3) is a slightly different problem. The problem is really that the window decorations don't get removed when Picasa is maximized, resulting in a "double" title bar. There doesn't appear to be a mouse offset problem, as best as I can tell. Public bug reported: When converting state outline data, I found that for various states that inkscape would perform an unauthorized partial fill of the outline at various zoom levels, especially low zoom levels. This was seen for all states combined and for individual state files. Looks like a classic case of a rasterization/fill algorithm being confused counting edges by minute details but why is such an algorithm even running on unfilled region? About this I was thinking that this solution could fit most cases, for quick Alt+Tab / Alt+`: - If an application has some normal windows opened and optionally some transient windows: both quick Alt+Tab and quick Alt+` switch between main windows. - If an application has only one normal window and one (or more?) transient: quick Alt+Tab should switch to another application, quick Alt+` switch to the transient window.
