[Bug 402215] Re: ntop does not install correctly with no 'eth0' device
A fresh installation of the latest ntop will not try to use eth0 by default, but will listen on no interface. However if the answer "eth0" is cached by debconf from a previous installation and eth0 is not up or available, the installation of ntop will fail in the postinst. I have fixed this for the next upload to Debian unstable by preventing the init script to exit with an error if the user has specified an interface which is not available. In this way the installation will not fail, even though ntop will not start. It will be however possible to reconfigure ntop with dpkg-reconfigure. [Bug 838811] Re: load average too low
I have two test computers: One has my kernel build environment for this issue, and I don't want to mess that up just yet; The other is too pathetic to compile the kernel, and is the one on which I do these kernel request tests. I do not knnow if it is relevant, but yesterday I did a complete new install of the daily ISO of 12.04 Beta 1 for 2012.03.03 on the pathetic computer (and gave the related "PASS" feedback to the daily ISO testing web page) I did the "sudo apt-get update" and "sudo apt-get upgrade" just now, but I am still at kernel 3.2.0-17-generic-pae #27. I'm not sure, but I don't think the fix is in the development kernel yet anyhow. [Bug 946889] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 00000004
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue. However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all. Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request further testing. This is such a request. We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still exists or not. You can update to the latest development kernel by simply running the following commands in a terminal window: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to Confirmed. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to Fix Released. If you want this bot to quit automatically requesting kernel tests, add a tag named: bot-stop-nagging. [Bug 926135] Re: bamfdaemon crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message()
I had Firefox open to a static webpage, and was running System Monitor at the time. I went to System Settings, Removable Media, and then when I clicked on, "Never prompt or start programs on media insertion," I received this Problem message. Nothing happened, though - everything still seemed to be running and working like it should be. Info: I'm running Precise beta 1 32-bit, with updates. I couldn't repeat the problem on the same session. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/926135 Title: bamfdaemon crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bamf/+bug/926135/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 946888] [NEW] Loose security on Locked screen.
Public bug reported: What happens: Screen lock: prior to login the system responds to the first several characters typed and responds to mouse or trackpad movements. For security sake; Shouldn't this be tightened up? What should not happen: Input buffer should not accept signals (ie: characters, keyboard strokes; and not mouse or trackball inputs. What could potentially happen: the Hack of system by way of buffer use; thru the momentary laspe of security during the first instance of "locked screen" activity just prior to a login. [Bug 946886] [NEW] Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit/C/GTK 3 menu crash
Public bug reported: I have a C program I'm working on that uses GTK. 4 options - Create New File, Open Existing File, Save File and Quit were originally just gtk buttons on the window - short cut while initially coding. Now it's improved to the point that the few things I have working so far need to go out for testing to the users that wanted it. Well, in order to clean it up I made those 4 options into a "File" submenu on a menubar. The Create New File option, besides setting an internal variable, uses a gtk_dialog to send the message New CSS File Will Be Created With Your Changes When You Save The File There is newline after "Changes" - a "\n" in C, to force this to a multi-line display. Without the newline, the message was still wrapping to 2 lines. The message is displayed, and returns from the call to the common function I use that contains the dialogbox. As soon as the function "returns", so control is passed back to the menubar handling (e.g., code I didn't write) the entire process aborts. I have tried this without a multi-line message and it works - it only aborts when the message text was multi-line. I have screen captures and the source available, including the traceback, etc., in the terminal window. I am able to work around this for now, but wonder why this aborts. Everything I've seen indicates this can be a multi-line text string. Thanks in advance, Dave ;) ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/946886 Title: Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit/C/GTK 3 menu crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/946886/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 806291] Re: [needs-packaging] Boot-Repair
Hi, Given that Debian version won't be ready on-time for Precise, would it be possible to upload it to Ubuntu and then sync back from Debian? Any Archive admin volunteers to review it if it got uploaded? Reviewing it myself, I found the following 'flows' in the package/app: - desktop-file-validategives the following error: "boot-repair.desktop: error: value "3.08" for key "Version" in group "Desktop Entry" is not a known version" on both .desktop files - copyright file should name the files with his path for the MIT license (usr/share/boot-sav/bis*.sh) - the same for glade2script.py (usr/share/boot-sav/glade2script.py) - When launching boot-repair, I'm getting a popup stating that there is a newer version of boot-repair that I should download or use boot-repair-disk. I think this popup should be disabled for Debian/Ubuntu via a distro specific patch. - it installed syslinux and parted when launched. Shouldn't that be a Depends in the boot-repair package (control file) as this seems quite mandatory to have them? - I've got the feeling that boot-repair have ot be launched as root. Is it the case? If so, you should use gksudo or equivalent in the .desktop files - I ran cleanupubiquitybefore by error, and I got lucky because I wasn't logged in as root, otherwise I would have deleted all my system. Is it really the intention? If so, it should be clearly stated in the description and if possible, add a warning at the beginning of the script. [Bug 933474] Re: XMPP account can't login: "not authorized"
In the meanwhile I did another test and it turns out that the reason for this error seems to be that I use a different domain than the primary one of the server. This is MOST noticable with indicator-weather and xchat panel indicators. Should not have to logout/restart or restart applications in order to get full panel usage out of them. Ubuntu (and linux) are built around being up and running all the the time, not being restarted like MS windows every 24 hours. [Bug 946860] [NEW] Num Lock is off during login even when it is set "on" in BIOS
Public bug reported: Num Lock is off when at the login screen. My BIOS is set to have Num Lock on for default, yet when I get to the login screen it is off. If I turn it on, log in, log out, and try to log on again, it is again in the off position. To reproduce boot machine. When at login screen, attempt to use number pad, note it does not work until num lock is turned on again at every login.
