[Bug 949424] Re: [UIFe] String and feature changes in new Rhythmbox

2012-03-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package rhythmbox - 2.95.5-0ubuntu1

---
rhythmbox (2.95.5-0ubuntu1) precise; urgency=low

  * New upstream release. (LP: #949424)
- Add support for allowing plug-ins to specify that they should be
  enabled by default. (LP: #934235)
- Magnatune plug-in is re-enabled upstream.
- Removal of gtk_dialog_run in most all cases.
- Porting of more plug-ins to python-gi.
  * debian/control, debian/*.install:
- Remove the useless coherence plug-in install file.
- Move some core plug-ins into main rhythmbox package.
  + audiocd, generic-player, iradio, mmkeys, power-manager, rb
- Split out the NPAPI plug-in to a separate package.
- Split out the zeitgeist plug-in to a separate package.
- Split out the magnatune store plug-in to a separate package.
- Split out the visualizer plug-in to a separate package.
+ Disable building the visualizer plug-in package, as it needs
libmx which is in universe and not main.
  * debian/patches/*:
- Refreshed patches against new source that had problems applying.
- Remvoe the mpris name patch which is included upstream.

[Bug 806291] Re: [needs-packaging] Boot-Repair

2012-03-08 Thread Fabrice Coutadeur
Hi,

Ok about root 'sudoing': I missed the fact that boot-repair is calling a
script that chooses the best 'sudo' command.

About the second part: I installed the package that I built locally, so
it seems that you are missing some dependencies. Anyway, I've not been
able to find a 'initialization' command in any Ubuntu package. Maybe is
it because this command should be run from command line by a user...

thanks!

Fabrice

Confusion for new users ? New users get confused by the software centre , min
max button on the left not the right and even more when the window has been
maxed and the min max button go to the top bar . None of these have been
dropped . Hud may will be confusing for new and old users alike but it wont be
defoult . Who would of guest we have been given a choice on this one . New
users are part of thhe 80 % market share that ms windows holds .
This is ubuntu not windows it has a steep learning curve for all new users
becouse its not the norm . As MS say Ubuntu is now about leading not following
. ( Confution WILL Follow if you are a leader and question or change the Status

[Bug 948914] Re: Cortina 07.3 in Precise is not working

2012-03-08 Thread Fabrice Coutadeur
Hi Eric,

thanks for taking care of cortina! As we are syncing this package from Debian,
would it be possible to upload it first there?
Wences, it seems that your are the Debian maintainer. Is it feasible?

In both cases, as we are past Feature Freeze, and this is a new upstream
version, you need to get a FFe (Feature Freeze exception) from the
Release team. Please follow the process described at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess#FeatureFreeze_for_new_upstream_versions
and provide the information requested there to get one.

Thanks,
Fabrice

[Bug 775950] Re: fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed! upon boot (always reproducible on battery only, but sometimes on AC too)

2012-03-08 Thread apinunt
A friend just brought his Acer Travelmate 2350 notebook over asking me to
remove WinXP and install a Linux OS. I tried to boot it with a Live DVD of
Linux Mint 12, and Linux Mint 11, and in both instances got only as far as :
Fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed!
Removing the battery resulted in the same.

It's getting to the point that I am reluctant to recommend a Linux OS to
my friends as each upgrade seems to introduce problems which remain
unresolved.

[Bug 949889] Re: Sync apper 0.7.1-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2012-03-08 Thread Fabrice Coutadeur
Hi,

Also, as we are past Feature Freeze, and this is a new upstream version,
you need to get a FFe (Feature Freeze exception) from the Release team.
Please follow the process described at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess#FeatureFreeze_for_new_upstream_versions
and provide the information requested there to get one.

Thanks,
Fabrice

[Bug 950537] [NEW] "Soundcard not detected" no sound at all since upgrade to 10.04 LTS

2012-03-08 Thread Brad Gulliford
Public bug reported:

Ran package upgrade when it was first released (didn't wipe disk & reinstall
manually, which a friend said I should have done since he thus avoided the
problem), and my computer has been utterly silent ever since. (I've been
living with this all this time, having submitted a problem report on a
Launchpad board at the time but the volunteer stopped answering e-mail after
trying a couple of things; I just decided to try once more.) I have no BIOS
startup beep, and sound files of all kinds play (progress bar advances), but no
sound comes out. Checked speaker connections & switches. At first, levels in
alsa-mixer were zero so I increased them; but that did no good.
apt-cache policy alsa returns
alsa:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: (none)
  Version table:

I allowed the installation of the new version (10.04) with the update
manager, never touched any volume controls or hardware, and sound died.
Any suggestions or diagnostics I should run, just let me know. Thanks
for your attention.

[Bug 947443] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 desktop freezes

2012-03-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
When the freeze happens next, please do this:

1. Switch to a virtual console: Ctrl+Alt+F1 and log in.
2. Run:
gdb `which compiz` `pidof compiz` | tee /tmp/compizbt.txt
3. At the (gdb) prompt type:
bt
quit
4. Revive your desktop by running:
sudo restart lightdm
5. Attach the file /tmp/compizbt.txt to this bug.

Thanks in advance. I hope we can make debugging steps like these simpler
in future :(

[Bug 950529] [NEW] 10.04 kvm vm upgrade to 12.04 - boot fail on 3.2.0-18-generic, but will boot 2.6.32-39-server

2012-03-08 Thread Nicholas Lee
Public bug reported:

Upgrade of a kvm based virtio vm from 10.04 to 12.04 (beta).

Note: slightly broken "do-release-upgrade -d" as some library keep
causing screen to crash. apt-get update and apt-get dist-upgrade
completed the upgrade.

Seems the Linux kernel server package for 10.04 - which is 2.6.32-39-server -
defaults to upgrading to 3.2.0-18-GENERIC. I think - have not confirmed - that
this kernel does not contain drivers for virtio blockio. So boot fails with
"Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block" boot errors.

I was able to boot into the 10.04 kernel, and after some investigation
replace the -GENERIC kernel with the -VIRTUAL kernel. The system now
boots correctly.

2012-03-08 Thread Britt Yazel
I tried the latest 3.3.0 rc6 kernel that you linked and the same problem
was there. There was little to no difference betwen the two kernels when
it came to this crash. The easiest way to cause this crash is to
rearrange the monitors in the display options and press apply. That will
instantly crash the machine on both kernels

[Bug 878516] Re: Regression, Window management - Restoring a semi-maximised window by dragging the title bar downwards restores the window into the wrong shape and position

[Bug 888661] Re: redshift crashed with SIGSEGV in geoclue_master_client_set_requirements()

2012-03-08 Thread Linux Lover
Running Xubuntu Precise 64 bit Live USB and I encoutered the same
problem.

Redshift crashed upon changing the Time Zone with "sudo dpkg-reconfigure
tzdata" and initiating RedSfhit within the menu.

The Xubuntu image is from the Daily Iso downloaded today at March 8,
2012.
