[Bug 951597] Re: 1.1.7 : breaks xsession-errors, no more rotated

2012-03-16 Thread dino99
This issue still persist on Precise i386 logged as gnome-classic:

- the log is not rotated on log out/in and reboot
- new events are not added to the previous not rotated log, seems to be like
locked
- the only workaround to get a working xsession-errors log is to delete the
previous one before logging out or reboot

[Bug 624510] Re: Copying To USB Is Very Slow

2012-03-16 Thread Axis Mann
Hi, I created a separate Lucid instance to test your changes. I put it
on the external USB drive and then verified I could recreate the problem
before I installed the kernel images you provided.

I reran the hdparm command to check the read speeds. The results looked
reasonable. I was getting approx 30MB/s. I then tested reading and
writing from the external USB drive to the computer's internal hard
drive and back again to the external USB drive. Those results too
looked reasonable. I was getting approx 30 MB/s both ways. That sure
makes moving GB size files less painful!

Will I have to reinstall those kernel images you provided if Canonical
pushes out another kernel update for Lucid or will your changes be
present in any future kernel updates for Lucid?

Thanks.

the problem until the issue is fixed again in dash.

Here is the new bug about the problem:

[Bug 956865] [NEW] Cannot connect to destination (api.twitter.com)

2012-03-16 Thread Heikki Hellgren
Public bug reported:

After trying to authorize either twitter or facebook with Gwibber I get
error messages that the destination is unreachable after long time
waiting for authorization page to open. I am behind proxy and other
protocols (ssh/http/https) are running ok through the proxy. I am using
Gwibber version 3.3.2 on Ubuntu Linux 11.10.

Here is my system information:

Linux drodil 3.0.0-16-generic #29-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 14 12:48:51 UTC 2012
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Description:Ubuntu 11.10
Release:11.10

This might have something to do with earlier reported bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/gwibber/+bug/259830

I attached log file from gwibber-service -d -o to this error report but
it shows no problems to the connectivity. Are there any workarounds or

[Bug 460729] Re: Typo in fdupes manpage

2012-03-16 Thread James Page
Hi Vibhav

Thanks for the patch for precise.

I really thing that we should wait for this to trickle in from upstream
rather than maintaining a patch in Ubuntu as it only pertains to a typo
in the man page rather than missing options or suchlike.

Un-subscribing ubuntu-sponsors for the time being - lets hope upstream
release 1.60 in time to close this bug for Ubuntu Q!

Cheers

[Bug 956870] [NEW] growpart tickles overflow bug in klibc with big disks

2012-03-16 Thread Neil Wilson
Public bug reported:

If the number of blocks in a disk is greater than the maximum size of a
signed 32-bit integer then growpart will fail in the initramfs.

This is because the 'test' function in busybox gives the incorrect
answer with large numbers. Since the busybox test function works fine
under 'libc' when a server is booted, it looks like the root cause is a
32-bit overflow fault in klibc.

To check for the problem, boot a server with a 'break init' option to
force the initramfs to drop to a shell.

[Bug 955934] Re: Cheese webcam app not recognise logitech cam C250

2012-03-16 Thread candtalan
@ Vadim Rutkovsky (roignac)
Thank you
1) I installed Ubuntu 12.04 beta1 and completed updates
I used ubuntu software centre to install cheese webcam app
I connected the usb of Logitech webcam C250 to the PC
I started cheese webcam app.

2) I expected that when cheese app started, an animation should appear
in the cheese window suggesting connection of cheese to the webcam and
graphic data display starting, then almost immediately I expect a
picture displayed from the web cam.

3) Cheese app started, and showed an empty, black, cheese window, with
tabs greyed out. There was no progress animation indication of webcam
connection, and there was no cam picture.

Comment: This webcam otherwise works with other apps in this machine and
with this ubuntu, as mentioned in notes above earlier. The webcam also
works normally using the camorama webcam viewer app. However it does not
work using cheese app.

Background information: bug #886954 was raised when I believed the
problem was wider than just cheese, and tests, including upstream kernel
tests were done there.

Cheese app worked with this cam in earlier ubuntu version: 10.04
updated, but stopped working from ubuntu 11.04 onwards.

2012-03-16 Thread Rick Spencer
Public bug reported:

Steps:
1. open gedit
2. type 1 2 into gedit
3. hit alt to bring up the HUD
4. type un and enter to execute undo
Result:
the 1 and the 2 disappear, though they are 2 different entires in the undo stack
this is demonstratable by using the menu directly
this is effecting other applications as well

[Bug 377179] Re: Implement pdebuild-dist

2012-03-16 Thread Daniel Hahler
I would like to have this, too.

I have tried using pbuilder-dist as pbuilder for pdebuild, but that
fails:

% pdebuild --pbuilder pbuilder-precise --pbuilderroot sudo -u $USER
pbuilder-precise: Warning: Running under sudo. This is probably not what you
want. pbuilder-dist will use sudo itself, when necessary.
pbuilder-precise: Error: --build is not a recognized argument.
Please use one of these: create, update, build, clean, login, execute.

[Bug 956853] Re: DVB-T card randomly stops working

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected running-unity

** Description changed:

I have a Nova-T-500 configured with tvheadend. If I set idle scanning in
tvheadend, it will crash at some point (it can be 20 hours later).
Disabling idle scanning seems to solve the problem. However idle
scanning is useful, because without it sometimes some channels can't be
read (maybe because of bad reception, I don't know).

[Bug 927243] Re: Search bar disappears when you stick the window to the side of the screen

2012-03-16 Thread Michael Vogt
Thanks for your bugreport.

When I set my display to a small resolution (like 1024x768) and push it to the
side I can reproduce the bug.
Doing that just by trying to resize the window will not work as there is a
minimal size that will be honored.

[Bug 647802] Re: amdcccle crashed with SIGSEGV

2012-03-16 Thread Mark Fernandes
I had this problem when I booted my laptop into single display
(basicially just the laptop screen) mode after having configured it
earlier in multiple display (extended desktop) mode.

Worked fine when it was configured in single display and later connected
an external monitor (in that situation only mirrored desktops worked)

2012-03-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hi,

I don't know if that's bug or will be fixed by final release. When I
open Gtk apps such as Nautilus, Transmission of Synaptic in Kubuntu
12.04 it can't disply content properly. Under Nautilus it chops the
content on top so you can open or access content [screenshot 1] Under
Transmission you can't see any menu items and on Synaptic when you click
on repositories option you just can't make any changes.

[Bug 956807] Re: ubuntu doesn't boot properly

2012-03-16 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with the disk to which you are trying to
install Ubuntu. I'd recommend performing a back up of your existing
operating system and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections for your disks and using
software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event
that is is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's
status back to New. Thanks and good luck!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 919437] Re: Lost window, cannot get it back.

2012-03-16 Thread micove
I'm using 2 worskpaces (vsize = 1, hsize=2) and tried what comment #2
said. On the very first try I lost my window towards the bottom of the
screen in the left desktop. I enabled 2x2 and I found it in the 3rd
workspace (lower left that I never had enabled before). I can replicate
it every single time I try.

1) Put 2 worskpaces (vsize = 1, hsize=2) and the grid plugin active.
2) Move a terminal to the left end to the screen so the grid plugin changes it
reshapes it to the left half of the screen.
3) Put the cursor in the center of the terminal windows (vertical and
horizontal center).
4) ALT + CLICK and move the cursor down.
5) The window unsnaps about where I have the cursor but 1 full workspace/screen
down.
6) Enable 2x2 to recover it.

I tested this because I thought it was related to an issue I had with
the wall/move plugin. When I enable edge flipping move on wall and
move windows between workspaces the windows appears several inches away
from the grab point (grab hand cursor is several inches away from where
I grabbed the window before dragging it to another workspace). One time
the windows I assume appeared so far away from where I grabbed it that
it disappeared. It probably entered a different workspace too.

In both cases the window appears several inches away from the grab point
since when I did what comment #2, I grabbed a snapped terminal near the
middle and when it unsnapped it appeared so much below where I grabbed
it that it appeared in workspace #3.

We found that two kind of files related to universe and Translation-en

[Bug 956888] [NEW] [sound-nua]: Not enough margin between header and right column

list in the right column.

In this case the margin between the right column content and its label
should be increased by 6 pixels. The result should look like this:

[Bug 946742] Re: Shotwell crashes on start with gstreamer0.10-vaapi

2012-03-16 Thread Roger
Yup, still valid. I've never even had intel-vaapi-driver installed since
I'm using an Nvidia card with VDPAU. But VA-API is supposed to work with
VDPAU as a backend using the vdpau-va-driver. And it does sort of work
when using VLC and libav (still relatively high CPU usage), so I decided
to try it with gstreamer codecs as well. But the I ran into this bug.

It appears the presence of gstreamer-vaapi is enough to trigger the bug.

[Bug 878061] Re: Wrong file selected from Recent Documents list in file menu

2012-03-16 Thread joehill
Thanks for checking up on this. I'm not sure it's the same problem as
the other reported bug, since that had to do with recent files not
showing up at all, and this has to do with clicking to open one file and
the file next to it in the list opening. But in any case I'm now using
3.5.0 (most recent in Precise Beta) haven't noticed it since upgrading.
I'll report if it happens again.

We reproduced this bug with the 20120313 image which is based on ubuntu-
defaults-it-0.1.5ubuntu2 (https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-defaults-it-
team/+archive/ubuntu-defaults-it/+build/3289547).

I tested the old image 20120311 based on ubuntu-defaults-it-0.1.4
(https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-defaults-it-team/+archive/ubuntu-
defaults-it/+build/3277318) and it's not affected.

I also tryied to build again today an image with the 0.1.4 package and
it's still affected, so it's doesn't seems related to the package
content.

I compared the /usr/lib/firefox-addons/distribution/ content and the
only difference is that in the working CD there's also an
distribution.ini.ubuntu-defaults file.

I'm keeping both working and not working images, let me know if you want
more files from them.

Thanks in advance

[Bug 956901] [NEW] Failing `import numpy.distutils.core` with python-numpy package installed

2012-03-16 Thread Logi
Public bug reported:

In the source folder for http://code.google.com/p/netcdf4-python/
running `python setup.py install` as described in the README file fails
with:

  logi@magni:~/python-lib/netCDF4-0.9.9$ python setup.py install
  Traceback (most recent call last):
File setup.py, line 2, in module
  from numpy.distutils.core  import setup, Extension

OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory

This has worked on Ubuntu 11.10, an earlier iteration of 12.04 (although
the exact package version number is lost in the mists of time) and a
Debian testing.

Running the same line interactively, either identically as `from
numpy.distutils.core import setup, Extension` or as `import
numpy.distutils.core` fails in the same way.

[Bug 927051] Re: On bootup, 'screenshot of shutdown' flashes up

2012-03-16 Thread Greg Auger
It's difficult to tell: I only get this when autologin is enabled.

It's probably worth noting that this only happens when restarting (as
opposed to shutting down, and then pressing the power button to turn
back on).

[Bug 717645] Re: software-center crashed with ValueError in __init__(): Need either appname or pkgname or request

2012-03-16 Thread Michael Vogt
Thanks for your bugreport.

Can you still reproduce this issue on 11.10 or 12.04 ? The latest dupes I got
are from previous versions and
the code got updated to no longer do the same call as the old code.

Your screenshot indicates its version 5.0+, could you plase attach your crash
file (in /var/crash) or paste the backtrace to this report? do you have a way
to reproduce the bug?

[Bug 925609] Re: install throws errors about SADeprecationWarning

2012-03-16 Thread James Page
Hi Vibhav

Thanks for taking the time to prepare a patch for this bug.

Looking at the bug history this has now been fixed in upstream; this
should land in Ubuntu precise in the new few days.

Unsubscribing ubuntu-sponsors as no action is require.

Thanks for your work

Cheers

James
